Thread: Friends of the Brothers

Rubba - 1/12/2019 at 04:57 AM

Hey Fam. Wow.. have not been to this board in years. Call it hibernation, mourning...whatever. Good to see so many familiar names on these posts and hope y'all are well.

So... why am I here? Just like brother AlPaul said in an earlier post, I found his Friends of the Brothers band. I've got that void that most of you have where the Allmans used to be. Had not found a band to rekindle that mojo in me until now. Aledort, Jr. Mack, Levin, Al (as himself), Holloway...these guys are really doing the Brothers justice.

Im going to hit them up on Long Island on Sunday. You might wanna swing down if local or check youtube if you're not. I think Alan Paul streams the shows on his site too.

Miss y'all. Keep the music alive, and EAPFP! Thank you Alan!

Hey Rubba,

What's it been since we first and last met in Manhattan? I'm thinking twenty years or so. My memory sucks though. I'll be there with a couple of friends, maybe we'll find each other in the crowd, if not, enjoy the show.

Thanks guys. First two shows of this little run have been great. See you Sunday.

Whats up, John! Maybe the Sweeties will put together a pre-game plan for this show. Sure hope so.

I have SRO tix, so find me groovin' in the back I guess. Saw they added TAZ to this show too. Treats are in store!

Rubba,

If you go alone I might have one VIP ticket available. One of my friends has been feeling ill and it's a day of show call for him if h's going to go. No Charge because he already paid for it and he won't let me refund the ticket price to him. Again, one ticket and I won't know til an hour before the show if he's coming or not. I'll PM you with my cell # and if you could use the ticket, call me about 3pm and I'll let you know if it is available. Funny you mentioned The Sweeties, that was the last time I saw them if I remember right.

So I headed out from Cleveland to Philly for the show last Thurs night. Never had been to the Ardmore Music Hall and against my better judgement and at my bro in laws request I purchased GA seating tickets. Seating? Stood the whole show. What a friggin show. I noted in another thread from Al Paul that I was looking for a Beacon fix. Got it plus. Based on the music not the venue although no problems with venue - great sound. My perspective was set by four beers and two hits off a pen. And then all ABB jam. Statesboro Blues opener, Whippin Post early in the show. Dreams. Liz Reed. Jessica etc. And just like at the Beacon I would get lost in a jam and then freak out when the melody comes back at the end thinking wow we are still in that song. Love when that happens. We left saying declaring one of the best shows we have attended. Lots goes into that declaration including who you are with. I look forward to hearing from folks heading to the shows coming up. Oh yeah and if Scott Sharrard was the only act that would have been worth the trip. A wonderful night of music meant to be listened to live. Thanks for a great start for live music in 2019.

Thank you so much MustangBob. Comments like yours are worth a million bucks to us. It's why we are doing this.... well, it's the goal anyhow. Did you hear my shoutout? I was very touched by your coming from Cleveland.

One of my favorite things at The Beacon was the audience participation on certain songs. Don't think that will happen tonight but it will be quite cool if it does.

Be safe.
