The Beacon and The Brothers on 3/23/07
WOW !!! The Beacon run is always worth the wait and this year has been no exception. The show opened with an incredible 'Les Brers' and it never touched ground again. Gregg's voice was in fine tone and I have to say, it appears as though Derek's stint with Mr. Clapton has paid dividends !! When Warren completely TORE UP 'The Sky Is Crying', even the always inconsiderate 'talkers' (present at every show) quieted down !! (I've never understood why anyone would pay good $$ for a concert ticket and then proceed to talk during the whole show, make phone calls, etc., anyway, that's another topic.) As usual, the always dependable rhythm section provided the backbone to a superlative performance. Just when you think the band can't get any better, IT DOES. Just when you think you have it all figured out, YOU DON'T......'Manic Depression'....go figure. What a treat that was !! I was MOST impressed with the 'tightness' of the band that evening.....right on the money...almost scarey. Reminicent of an album recorded in the same town, back in 1971.
The best part was that the band REALLY seemed to be enjoying themselves AND each other and the phenomenal music is the result of that 'brotherhood'. Dare I say they were 'hittin' the note' that night ??
I think so.
