Marley I hear ya. I guess the reason I asked is that I heard after all those previous conversations that Derek would be taking 10 days off after the baby was born regardless of when the blessed event occurred. Sorry if I'm stirring up the pot over nothing.
Hey Marley...Looks like Derek will be touring the west starting April 1st including a couple of weeks opening for Robben Ford. I bet Susan and baby will travel with them.
Hey there sweet family,
"Charlie" it is - Charles Kahlil Trucks.
Take care and know that you are loved,
Lana
Brent: [Great] Scott brought the name to us. I've actually been wondering where he got it for days. Last night, I found him online and he said it came to him via a listserv, and that the originator was Christine King of Kid Glove Enterprises.
Scott, please let me know if I'm misstating something or putting words in your mouth. Just trying to set the record straight. Peace. --Marley
I think I might have missed something. Has Derek and Susan named their baby? Last I heard, the name wasn't picked out yet. Did the guestbook dub the baby "baby Charles" from "Cosmic Charlie" or is that the name?
Bum: I think the issue kind of died when it became clear that the future Charles was expected before the run. Besides, there has been a ton of time since we learned of Susan's pregnancy -- and later, the due date -- and now. No personal changes/issues have been announced. Thus, I think we can expected to see Derek on Friday night. The run is short this year, and I don't think the DTB has any touring plans in the immediate future (tell me if I'm wrong). So Derek should have lots of time to spend with Susan and Charlie between then and the quick June excursion.
That's all my understanding and interpretation, of course, and there are some who say that I'm wrong every once in a while. š Peace. --Marley
Hey bum: I asked the same question a few weeks back and got a lot of private messages and emails telling me that Derek will be there. In fact I think someone quoted Butch (from the Forum) as saying that Derek will definetely be there.
I'm surprised there has been little to no discussion about who will be playing guitar with Warren at the Beacon next week. It has been rumored that Derek would be taking a specific # of days to be with Susan and the new baby after the joyous event. If so, is someone else rehearsing with the band to fill the spot for the first couple of shows? Is this question "taboo" or has it already been definitively answered? Seems like a fair question for those of us going the ifrst weekend but if anyone feels this is not an appropriate topic for the GB given it partly has to do with Derek's personal life let me know and I'll delete it. I'm jazzed up either way.
Happy End of the work week to all.
Next week it's Beacon time. Looking forward to seeing the happy dancing crowd.
Beacon fever, irrational exuberance - call it what you will - it feels great just the same.
Here's wishin you all safe travels to our great city !!!!!!
Time to run for that 5:11 - See ya next week.
Hey all, i just wanted to thank all my new buddies, for the packages sent to me. i'll email each one of you, when i get a chance. just for right now i'm just getting so crazy, i can't think straight.
LETS GO BEACON!!!!
Hey Don,
While you're at SXSW, if you have the chance, maybe you could try and check out the premiere of Rising Low, the Mike Gordon-directed documentary of the making of Gov't Mule's The Deep End? It's playing there, somewhere. You can find out the specifics at mule.net. I'm just curious to hear how the film came out. Enjoy the festival. Lana, make sure you bake lots of cookes. š Peace. --Marley
Hey Mitch,
Will do - and brownies too š
Wow, gang, check these pix out. More from Robert Johnson from 4/9/71. Simply incredible!

Lana,
Bring some of those cookies to NYC! I love cookies! Mitch
Don,
They play Harpers Ferry every time, in Allston. I can surely let you (and the rest of the guest book) know when they are happening, or you can swing by Harpers and pick up a monthly calendar.
GO! You will not be disappointed. It is the best ABB tribute band (unless you are one of THOSE people who consider the current incarnation of the ABB to be only a tribute, as it contains neither original guitarist š )
Hey all, first post for me on the new site. Been traveling a lot for work so haven't been around much.
Just want to wish everyone a great weekend and can't wait to see the Beacon shows. Had a tough decision about the first week but eventually decided to head down to Austin next week for the SXSW Music Conference and Festival. Have heard great things about SXSW and finally have the opportunity to go. However, will be back the following week to catch the Thursday through Sunday shows. Also hoping to catch two good upcoming shows in Boston, Ryan Adams on the 18th and the North Mississippi Allstars on the 20th.
Melissa, have heard about the "Revival" shows in Boston. Do you know where one can find out about the shows in advance?
First off.....one short week till we are Peakin at the BEACON baby!
I probably should have posted this yesterday, in case any Boston folks were interested. Friends of mine, who are amongst the finest local musicians in Boston, occasionally do a show called 'Revival', which is of course an ABB tribute. It was truly wonderful last night, they opened with YDLM/AMCTB, which (if anyone with influence is reading this) would be soooooooooo wonderful to see next Friday. Also played nice versions of Liz Reed, Jessica, Revival, Melissa, Dont Keep Me Wonderin', Blue Sky and KIND OF BIRD!
It was really a nice warm up, but the best part was torturing all my friends because I get to see the REAL DEAL soon!
WOOOOOHOOOOO!
Call me demented but I have been analyzing and struggling over how to get the best tickets possible for the wiltern. Below is an exertā¦..

(GD) NOOOOO
(GB) Yah
(GD) well I care where we sit because I want to be able to make eye contact, see warrenās nasty faces, watch Derek move all five fingers so fast that it becomes a blur, see Oteil laugh, see Gregg complain about the monitors, see Jaimoe smile, butch bang on those tympanis with force and see marc play his ass off. I want to know what they are thinking, see the moment that Derek and Warren realize they are locked and going off. See it, hear it and feel like Iām in the knowā¦. Hey there sweet family,
Congratulations on all counts Neil!
I'm very much looking forward to the Beacon too and am glad the weather in NYC is great. However, it's hard to beat a day a blue sky day in NC that's so gorgeous even a Type A takes time out to bake sugar cookies and make homemade lemonade ... just to sit out on the porch with friends and enjoy. Y'all come down for some - or I'll bring 'em up to NYC š
Take care and know that you are loved,
Lana

Hey GB. Thank God its Friday. Neil good news about your father in law and congrats on your 17 years bro.
The Beacon is finally a week away and the weather in NY is awesome. In the 60's the last couple of days. Spring fever and Beacon fever plus March Madness(NCAA) makes this New Yorker foam from the mouth with anticipation. People can you feel it, love is everywhere. All the extended family have a great weekend on this fine day. PEACE!
Hey Ryan,
Everyone but Derek is in NYC now for rehearsals. He's a little busy with Charlie coming home and all š I'm sure he won't miss a beat when he does arrive, though.
