Johnny, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I've been trying to think of something to say since I saw your post, and I'm not having much luck. Last August, my dad and I hadn't even met you, and you still took us into your home, showed us (and our fellow travelers) unending kindness and hospitality, not to mention a place to sleep and a beautiful plaque from the dedication of Duane Allman Boulevard/Berry Oakley Bridge. All this after we'd known you less than 24 hours. You are in my thoughts and you have my deepest sympathies. The same goes for the family of your friend. I hope I can return the kindness you offered me someday soon. And at times like this, when you need it, I hope you realize just how many friends you have around here for much the same reason. Peace. --Marley

Pictures are okay at the Beacon, just no flashes. O'Hurley's has probably the finest Guiness on tap you'll find on the Upper West Side...nice neighborhood style restaurant and bar, with reasonable prices (for NYC).

johnny, a lot of us know your pain ... this makes it NO easier -- but know that you are NOT alone, brother. the allman brothers to me PERSONIFY life ... they've had their ups and downs (lord know they have had more than their fair share!); and yet they continue on ... in some ways even stronger! i love this band more than a normal human being should (thats what my wife keeps telling me!) ........ but listen to the word --- the message ---- the meaning ---- it's RIGHT! All the best...

Well, this is late but we might (PLEASE NOTICE I SAID "MIGHT") have an extra bed in our suite at the Beacon on the 21st and 22nd (maybe even the 23rd). I'll know for sure on Monday. If anyone's interested, drop me a line.

Johhny, what a beautiful post, my sympathy. Life feels so... precarious is the word. I'm not ashamed to say these are scary times. Cherish what's good. The Beacon will be good, in this sea of chaos. Peace to the family!

Johnny - I am so sorry for the loss of your friend - our lives are enriched by our dear friends even when things go confusingly wrong. Is this the same Tommy I met last year at the Beacon - who was so kind to give a stranger his back stage pass? He now shines up above as you do here on earth. Sending hugs your way.

Evenin' sweet family, One of our favorite photographers (he knows who he is ... and that we thank him very much ) added a fine picture of Kirk & Kirsten visiting with a pilgrim in the Big House to the Media Gallery this evening. Click here to enjoy. Take care and know that you are loved, Lana

JFC, I am so sorry. Such stong influences, and friendships shape our lives. I have a bro' I lost over five years ago, that taught me so very much about life. He's not truly gone, he's in my heart every day. I started out as the teacher, and soon, I became the student. Hang tight, and know our hearts go out to you and his family.
