So, I went to see this cover band over the weekend, and they opened with DWYNM/NMCTB, and I thought "Oh boy, this is ambitious." You can judge the quality of a cover band by how the play the ABB, and I was fairly impressed. Also played Trouble No More and Whipping Post. They are called Reverb and play Western Mass/Eastern NY/Northwest Conn.
I KNOW he played with Bobby Bland though....are you looking for Clarence Hollimon, or perhaps Wayne Bennett? Roy Gaines?
Close, but no cigar, Melissaphish. 😉
BB King?
Howdy angels,
To get a report of how many times the ABB have played songs in descending order by frequency played go to Calendar on the Menu, then click Reports ... or Click Here. There are several other interesting report options, covering every year from 1969 - current. My, my, my what will Rowland come up with next? Thank you, Rowland!
Take care and know that you are loved,
Lana
First to post the name of the great guitarist for Bobby Bland gets a show of your choice from my list....EAPFP
I think it says something for the original ABB that their version of Stormy Monday comes three spots higher than the original. 🙂
I suppose that could be related to the current band's situation with playing or not playing certain songs, but I won't delve into that...that's probably a subject best left on the Whipping Post.
Mule on Friday- can't wait! I can already see interesting stuff on the setlists this tour. I'd love a Goin' Out West. Anybody listening? 😉 Peace. --Marley
Here is my take on AMERICAN UNIVERSITY DC, boy do the boys cook or what.I recommend it for all of you to order it.
SUPPORT THE BAND!!!!
Bocat, and anyone else that might be interested, that Mountain compilation is "Over The Top" and it actually came out in '95. My, how time flies. It's between that version and The Bros. for my favorite cover of Stormy Monday.
Listened to the American University cd over the weekend. Really enjoyed hearing Gregg let through the Bobby Blue Bland influence on Stormy Monday.
I suggest you all check out Bobby Blue Bland. He has been around a long time and can really sing the blues.

Hey y'all,
Through the kindness of Brother Nic, I received a copy of the King Curtis disc that's been circulating around. When I got it I popped it into the box and realized almost from the beginning that the show was a commercial release, of which I wasn't sure of its current status. Well, another friend from another trading list did some research and found this link to the CD Now page where this show is still being sold.
Now, I know without a doubt that Nic wouldn't be spreading this show if he knew about it, as well as knowing that most of you wouldn't. The show was part of a series of older Atlantic re-releases that are very cool and meant to support those forgotten artists. I hope everyone will do what they can to continue to support that series. I was lucky enough to have received the show as a gift from a very Sweet Sister (Thanks again Betty) or I wouldn't have known much about it either. I just thought y'all would like to know about it, and that link will take you to where you can buy the show and support King's estate and memory.
Peace,
Tom S.
Au contraire Scotty. Terri was quoting Spinal Tap lyrics at the Mule show Saturday night!
Right on old coot. That version of Stormy Monday by Mountain is killer. I wore grooves in the vinyl listening to that.
I might have to go out and get that compilation just to hear it again.
Just want to let people know the friends fly free promo is still on. Got some tickets to Friday if people need them.
Terri B- guess you didn’t love spinal tap cause I thought for sure the sentence would rate Gregg an eleven.
Speaking of spinal tap just saw Rob Riner & Martin Sheen the other day as they were protesting Washington Mutual's destruction of Ahmanson Ranch. Seems the project calls for an extra 3,000+ luxury homes and 45,000 car trips per day. Rob Riner says if I had to be a critic and rate this project it would be a -11.
All Blues Bro- hand in there man. Bummed we didn't meet on this coast.
For my right coasters- is there any music Friday night in New York? Seems I'm taking a little trip to the right coast.
Finally, for those of you who don't know- Brent Dino, Woody and I are basically all in the same city. Granted it can take over an hour at many times during the day to cross from one side to another. Some live further than others. Brent & I were supposed to meet at P &F but it didn't work out. Took Brent & I to travel to B2P to meet. Got to meet Dino at a GA& F show. Now this elusive Woody character- man- no P & F but hopefully we will get to finally meet at ABB Wiltern.
The Wiltern does not have a Beacon hotel or some big field but I am officially promising some form of party, somewhere that will rival the East Coast get togethers and hopefully the sweeties gatherings.
Peace & Love--Scotty

Looked at the Stormy Monday list and the author missed one fabulous performance, a 19+ minute version by Mountain, Atlanta Pop Festival 1970. He probably has never heard it since until several years ago it was only available on vinyl. Finally came out on a 2 cd compilation. Leslie West guitar & vocals, Felix Papalardi on bass, wow.
big al good advice..hes stuck in low gear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
