ALRIGHT!!!! Chicago gets it's Mountain Jam!!!! I can't figure out which night was the best! Guess I'll have to wait for Saturday. Is there a possibility for a multiple stay next year in the Windy City?? Perhaps 9 shows? I won't miss one! Keep on Rockin'!

Well alright, looks like all the Westerners and the Midwesterners have been having their ball thus far. Time to get the SE crowd ready to go. As for me looks like Daytona. A Sunday show which is my best opportunity. Missed the Beacon due to unexpected issues tho I do have a digital memory of what I missed. Who's going with me? Don't know anything about the venue or the location but hope to find walking distance accomodations. Any suggestions? I feel a real gathering will take place back near "where it all began" Looking forward to it!

North Miss. All-Stars on the ABB bill w/ Galactic in Pittsburgh. Nice ! BTW, wasn't planning on catching any shows this summer. But with Galactic on the bill I may be tempted to go to the PNC show. They are awesome when the Houseman isn't singing. For those of you that don't know what I am talking about you will. Great groove band !

PhillyBob, just the fact that he's directing you to VH1 for the "real story" is hysterical.

My Response from Pitch Weekly when I wrote to the editor about his poor story. Can you believe this reply and the fact the editor sent it. LOL You can tell they are not into customer service. Hi Bob, Thanks for writing. I forwarded your comments to our writer. Below is his response. Best, Andrew Miller Music Editor Pitch Weekly Alright, I'll take it on the chin for getting the familial ties between Butch and Derek wrong, but the release of Dickey Betts was quite a shock to a lot of "true fans." Apparently, the band contacted him *via fax* to tell him that he wasn't going to be joining them on tour that summer, implying that he had some "personal issues" that needed to be addressed. Dickey released a statement later disclosing this and flat out saying that they were full of crap and he had no real idea why he got the boot. Since then, they may have smoothed some things out (the ABB website says the split was due to "creative differences") but the fact remains that Dickey is still not playing with them. At the time, it was a scandal among fans and effectively split some allegiances between those who still believed in Dickey's abilities and those who were trying to remain faithful to the band. As a stickler for details, Bob might need to remove his rose-colored glasses and take a look at this article; nevermind the fact that all of this has been public record for nearly two years now: http://www.vh1.com/news/stories/1124065.jhtml

It is with a broken heart that I left my peachbuds behind in Chicago early this afternoon, but I'm in Kalamzoo seeing my (other) family, so that's good too. Last night in Chicago....uh....I still have a smile on my face that just won't go away 😀 😀 Thanks go out to many of the brothers and sisters here for their kindness. I guess I should first thank the anonymous guy who traded his FRONT ROW tickets for our sixth row tickets. SistaBluz and I still are shaking our heads over that one...but boy, what a time I had in the front row....I was up on my feet most of the night, and got big grins from Warren and a couple of smiles from Derek. Warren even tossed me a guitar pick after the show... I gave it to Sis as I would not have been in Chicago if not for her...Love ya, Sis! Next thanks go to Rev. Tim...that boy ain't right (LOL!), but he hooked me up well yesterday....aftershow pass and a setlist from Set #1....thanks Rev! The gathering of Peachheads at Berghoff's was a success! Nic and Pam (Nic with the gifts, as always), Jeanne, Brofan and Johnny Fish Camp were my Beacon buds reunited. Can't imagine them not being there!! Finally met my "old friend" Big Windy...he's great fun, and another "old friend", Sang, who handed out these great CDs personalized just for the Chicago shows. Sang, I listened on the train to Kalamazoo today, and I loved it...thanks again....also met Lee from Meeechigan (Go Blue!)...Beverly from Ohio (you are a doll...and such a fan!!), Kathy and Nate who came all the way from Dallas for the shows, Ron and friend from Wisconsin, Sonny and Rhonda and I feel like I'm forgetting someone, so I apologize (not much sleep :)) Oh yeah, ran into Paul K., Josh and Leon at the show 🙂 On to the show...I believe the setlists were posted and they looked accurate. The biggest fun I has was during Southbound with Larry McCray added to the mix...he, Warren and Derek were 'cuttin' heads' in a guitar battle that as much fun to watch as it was to hear 😀 😀 Warren was challenging Derek, then Larry and the 3 of them were workin' it and having a blast! I can't wait to hear how this sounds when our friends the tapers start spreading this show around. I think someone posted this before (maybe Scotty?), but it's so much fun to be up close and watch the head nods and the eye contact while the band is playing...we also peeked at the setlist (while reading upside down) to know what was coming next...on this night, they stuck to the list. At the after show, we took a trip downstairs to the meet and greet room....it was not easy to find in this old theater (which by the way is a beauty!!), we kept making wrong turns which prompted me to shout out "Hello Cleveland" as it was a total Spinal Tap moment 😀 I did not see any of the band down there, but on my way out, we passed by Warren and I asked him if he was going to sit in with Larry McCray's band at Buddy Guy's Legends. He said he didn't know...and I said something like, "oh, come on!" (I wanted to say 'one more band won't kill you!'), but Warren was a no show. I spoke to Larry between sets and he said that he didn't think Warren was coming as he was tired. We had a good time listening to Larry's band anyway, with several guest musicians sitting in. In fact at the end of the evening when the crowd was light, there were so many people up on stage I began to wonder when it was my turn to jam 😎 Buddy was even at his own club sitting in the corner. After our "breakfast meeting" this morning at Lou Mitchell's (JFC, Jeanne...thank YOU!...Brofan, Sang, SistaBluz, Mrs. Nic and myself) I said goodbye to those heading to Wrigley and those heading in other directions. I'll miss them and be thinking of everyone tonight 🙂 See you on the road.....
