In response to Peachnut's statement. If people did not hunt especially, big game animals, then their population would grow so large that browse lines would emerge causing mass starve outs and diseases in the species.(studies show this) Not to mention the traffic problems that would be caused. In GA the insurance companies are the reason for increased bag limits because of all the claims resulting from hitting these animals on interstates etc. Travel in the soutweast would become deadly(more so). Also you have to kill animals to eat them and i like to eat them and if I am not supposed to eat them why do I have 4 specialized teeth for such. There is a disconnect b/w people and there food that it is absurd. Hamburgers come from cows you know. Ever see chickens on a chicken truck(pretty brutal sight)! --As to me living in the past i guess I am. My dad as been taking me hunting ever since I was about 8 years old just as his dad did and as i will with my son because I like the way it makes me feel. --I don't own an assault rifle or even a pistol and I see guns as tools not weapons. I admit there are people out ther with guns who should not have them and many people will be accidently killed year after year just as there are a lot of shitty drivers out there who will kill people with their cars year after year but it ain't me babe. --If you object for the sake of the wildlife then you should read up on the affects of urban sprawl-development in wetlands and mercury levels in rivers which are detrimental to all species and compare those to hunting game animals. (sorry my statments are broad and rambling -I have a hangover)

Gun control = a steady hand.... Without the availability of guns, Gregg Allman could've very well been lost in Viet Nam. Make what you will out of the fact that he shot himself in the foot to get out of the draft, or that Duane and the rest of the guys egged him on, but I'm comfortable in the knowledge that someone had the *right*, not the *privilage*, to buy the gun that kept Gregg out of the draft. Fact is this website itself may not have seen the light of day if not for the purchase of that gun! The Constitution doesn't say word one about hunting. "The *right* of the people to keep and *bear* arms.....shall not be infringed." Well, I guess one could see that in such a convoluted way as to think it means grizzly bears are OK to be armed against..... Peace is not achieved through the absence of conflict, but through the strength and ability to defend it. So, with that I'll say.... Peace, Tom S.

I.E., Paradise. I'm in East TN. Where the cost of living is low, mountains are beautiful, and the people are friendly. SHHH!!! Don't tell anyone. The rat race will go on with one less rat. Also low crime rate and I have to admit it's because everyone has guns and it's a known fact. Nothing more intimidating than a pickup truck full of good ol' boys with deer rifles.

Howdy Skydog007/Scotty 🙂 Well, the secret is out. Although I lived in Coronado twice and hope to return permanently when I "retire" USNR (either as a widower or in an urn) I currently reside in Central Ohio, but do spend a lot of time "mentally commuting" to Coronado 🙂 I hope to get out there in February when there is two feet of snow here. By the way, can you tell me if Bandini's is still the finest Mexican eatery in the country? I sure miss that place with the hot tub sized margaritas :0 RE: "Maybe we should take a lesson from animals and understand that when someone is on there back it's over and they are giving up."----------or maybe, like the Bonobo monkeys, we could all engage in continous promiscous sex, as they seemed to have found that the only way to diffuse any sort of combative tension among their populations 🙂 Cheers Carlos of Coronado who doesn't get there enough ps-whereabouts are you in area of paradise and are you currently practicing?

I think you've gotta be honest about the tyrannical government thing...the government has The Bomb. Actually, it has thousands of The Bombs, not to mention tons of other bombs and all manner of chemical and biological weapons. If anybody really wanted to take on the US Army or Marines or whoever (or vice versa, if the gov't decided to get medieval and destroy a vast area), the government wins easy. Assault rifles, AK-47s...nobody would stand a chance against the US military, it's the most well-funded and well-equipped army in the history of the world. I don't mean to be a downer or anything, but let's be realistic, yes? Guns suck, and they suck because they don't kill criminals as often as they kill family members and other innocent people.

I am really sorry that I comented on the post before me........ I did not mean to start a bad thread with my coments But, I wll say that gun control does not help. Maryland has the toughest gun control of most states and look where this has gotten them. Still, not that carring a gun would help these people........ But I would have one....... I was told what I stated by the DA where I live.... A friend is being stalked and now he was after me because I would not give him her new phone number...Then he threatened me and my family.......address and all........ I feel that we all have the right to carry a gun but you have to be respectful for it........This is where the criminals fall short........We should be able to protect our family and friends.......... Back on a better note........... Texas ABB is killer................ look for more offers to come...... Pam

The founding fathers didn't consider hunting ? Did they consider assault rifles ? Or scopes to kill from hundreds of yards away ? C'mon ....

Carlos- wondering if you'll be at the San Diego Mule show. Brent Dino & I will be there..... Maybe we all can meet???? As for the gun issue had a professor in law school who is on the NRA board. She is totally into firearms and we just agreed to disagree. The right to bear arms has nothing to do with the registering/waiting period/collecting of information re: a gun/user. I think using/owning a gun should be more like a privilege - similar to a drivers license. You need to take a test or give up a whole lotta information before you can get your hands on that baby. Face 12 or carried by 6 I disagree. Talk first. I wish we could get back to the days before technology. Please realize that when a fight used to erupt we used to be able to act submissive and ti would be over. There used to be a thing called a white flag to surrender. Today our technology is so far advanced that you can't even see that white flag. Maybe we should take a lesson from animals and understand that when someone is on there back it's over and they are giving up. Peace love & hope—Scotty

Gotta disagree with Debbie on the constitution thing. The founding fathers weren't considering hunting. They wanted to make sure that the U. S. never had a tyrant like the King of England, and felt a well-armed populace would make sure it never happened. We already have gun control. Anyone who wants to buy a gun goes through a background check. Convicted felons are not allowed to own guns. That's gun control. I own some guns my father left to me, but I don't hunt or shoot. I firmly believe in the right to bear arms. It is one of the principles upon which this country was founded. I hope we never have to find out the hard way what can happen to a country when its citizens have no way to protect themselves.

coming to charlotte for dTb at the Vis this weekend? (X-post) If so, drop me a line. Big fun time. This band seems to LOVE this room. 10-13-01 was as good a club show as I've seen, and I've been seein' 'em for about 27 years. I expect every bit as good this time around, hell, I've heard the recent tapes, I expect better... and wait'll you see the Visulite's big $ video presentation. It'll be used to as good an effect, I expect, this weekend as it was used for, say, Ozric tentacles and waaaaaaaaay better than Particle. Time to get happy & smart with dTb... ron y familia

oh well in for a nickel in for a dime My reading of the constitution notes that firearms are mentioned but, however, terminations of pregnancies are not.... so to BORROW words from those well intentioned individuals who find principles and philosophies in the American constitution "If you don't like guns, don't have/buy one" Cheers to all CRR I have none of either 🙂

My thoughts on guns-----------HATE them. When the constituion was written guns were used mainly to kill animals so people could feed their families. But that being over 200 years ago, to me it does not apply anymore. Guns kill. I never thought of target shooting or hunting as a sport. Maybe because I lost so many friends in Nam and have always been against violence of any kind, I feel the way I do. I taught my son never to use guns..........he never even had a play gun. They just were not a toy I wanted my child to have. Seems that stuck in his mind because to this day he will not go near anyone who has a gun and for that I am grateful. This latest sniper attack just reaffirms my belief that there must be gun control. Living here in Florida where there are a lot of guns sold, I still have a very hard time accepting that this society could tolorate this. Maybe it is time for us to get the constituion changed. Too many innocent people have lost their lives because some nut gets his hands on a gun. Just my 2 cents on the subject. I guess I just can't understand how anyone gets pleasure from using a gun.
