A-Rod 600! Yes, but he cheated. Look how many home runs he has hit this year. Nothing like the years he was doing steroids. Just like Bonds, Big Mc, Sammy, they all cheated.
I agree with my friend from Denver; it is great seeing old heads posting! I would like to see Brent and Dino and many others also return to the fold.
Friends for life we is...this band of brothers ( and Sista's ).
A thousand memories swirl in the dust I kick up on this ole dirt road I call HTW...I walk it every day and even when the skies are stormy; they are ‘Blue’ on the other side. The train daily rolls on past the grave sites that sat in silence through so much desecration. I was there, I saw it.
Everyone will soon return to the dust of that road...
Love – Hug – Forgive - Move On.
Remember friends that have gone before us. I miss Bill.
Jack, you and Phyllis were some of the first folks I met from the site. Your hospitality and friendship has always meant so much to me and I'm thankful.
Some great posts here today starting with GS and Johnny FishCamp. I really felt like the old days when the band toured and we planned and anticipated great times. I met so many great people when I went to 3 years of Beacon shows between '04 to '06 that I opened up my local bbq before the Allmans at Red Rocks to the GB and the first year only a few people showed up from the gb-Tony/Bird72, Gailagain and Bill (who I had met at the Beacon), cruzpro/Ernie, and a couple of others, but the next year about 60 'friends' showed up and thenext 2 years it wasthe same or better as Tommy/Southpaw started providing evening music after the first year when Tommy and Lefty and a friend of Tommy's entertained us in my living room-a great show by the way.
My health has been poor for 2 years and I get annoyed at the trolls-both real trolls and the people who are always using the web site as a place 'to set the record straight', which is no more then one person's view of the past.
So, I am hopeful that this place can return to the great place it was, and we can get back to trying to enjoy this life of ours.
Have a great day all. I hope to see and hug all my old friends again and meet the many more who I talk to but never met. May Gregg get well and another tour come our way!
Hey Scott. Yes I remember the night ya came by the room. I was in rare form. Glad you got to see the whites.
I remember Nashville with Aikens and Slash. Slash is the taller of the two. They are brothers. Aikens and I were roommates in college back in the day. Slash is in his own world.
I also remember the night on the the lawn in Atlanta with you and Ryan B and M. Williams. It was the ABB gig, I think Karl D opened but not sure.
Always great to see Brent Sibley and hear him play. It was great seeing Randy at the Mule gig in B-ham a few weeks back.
Hey there Great Scott!! man, hope you and family are well...Good to see you post.
Hey now, Brother Sibley!!
Billy, the first time we met was Nashville, 7/4/02. What a great night! I remember hangin' out at the Best Western pool that afternoon and your tall friend (I want to call him Acres, but that's probably wrong...the one with the hardcore mullet) doing some serious Tai Chi. Hey, everybody has their own pre-show routine, right?
And you've probably forgotten, but I came by yours and Kay's room after the '02 Oak Mountain show, but you were already in your tighty whities and ready for night night. I STILL wish I had given those things a snap!
:boomerang:
Looking forward to checking out "Billy's Picks" on Friday afternoons. How's Monroe County lookin' this year?
Johnny, Josh, Layton, Debbie, Big Mike...good "seeing" you guys! Randy, I find it hard to believe that you've ever made a negative post, unless it was in some sort of parallel universe.
Corn Dog, I love you, man. *Thumping chest*
And since TommyC's name came up, I'll borrow his tagline: Hi to my friends!
😀
Anytime with Billy is a great time.
WOW! Yes Billy E, thank GOD the music always has and always will set us free. You are so right most people just dont get it! Ive found with the ABB either you get it mind, body and soul or you dont get em at all.
That why this site is so important bc you can connect with your "brothers and sisters" :jump:
Ok I have got to get off of here and go see some patients!! Have a beautiful rest of the day yall.
Good to read all the posts from some of you that I know and some that I have not had the pleasure of meeting.
I still miss GPM,Joe Roy, USC Brent as well as others. Keep It Kind.
I have missed most of the pre and post parties that ya'll have have attended and will miss the Macon gig but I still consider ya''ll friends. Kay & I went to the Beacon by ourselves.
I do not even get to the campgrounds at Wanee. Maybe Sang will get me there yet.
My other friends just don't get it.
I still remember the short lunch in Nashville before an ABB/ DTB gig with some of you in 01 I think. The late night waffle house runs.
The 02 Pelham pre gig at Applebies before ABB. The GB shows in Gadsden, Al with, Brent, Lefty, Matt, Goldtop and Donna Hopkins and their bands. I got to meet TerriB, Jacquie and Helen.
The last ABB Fox run.
This was a week after hurricane Ivan which devastated alot of my area.
We needed that gig like you will never know, No electricity or running water for a week. Several of my tree farms destroyed. My wife had more insurance claims than she cares to remember.
The nights at the Fox were special. The shows of Jack Pearson and Donna Hopkins at the Tabernacle were great.
BlueDad gave us a ride back to the hotel and he had never even seen us before. You think that I don't think he is one of the best. Yes he is.
I know that I am over the top about Alabama football, but mean no harm to Auburn or Dame. I mean no harm to any others or their teams.
I loved talking football, with Bill Ector, and most of you don't know that Ga Tech and Bama hated each other for years. Bill and Joe Bell & I and maybe Hop got past this.
I look up Joe Bell every chance that I get to talk football.
Heck ,Bird LeCroy is one of my oldest and best friends and he hates Bama football.
It is all about the music and the brotherhood or friendships.
I was able to get to the Atlanta Susan, Phil & Friends and ABB gig and thought it was great. I miss going to gigs in Atlanta as it has been too long.
Loved the greet before the ABB in Atlanta. I think David Wyatt did this. Got to meet Ole Dirt Road and Libby. Bill B was there as well.
People's perspective changes. Illnesses, financial problems , relationships end, and depression comes to all of us. The music still sets us free.
Keep It Kind. Sorry for the rambling.
Whooooo Hooooooo - A-Rod just hit his 600th home run -
Last evening as I was grooving to the funky jams Little Feat was layin' down so thick and tasty, with just the right amount of adult beverage to let my back bone slip a little, I kept having one recurring thought.....
Damn, I miss my Allman Brothers Band!
It just ain't quite Summer without 'em.
Scott...........wow....you brought back so many memories of B2P.......we had a ball !!!! I remember the caravan from Raleigh to Charlotte to Atlanta.
That was the best year for me for shows...saw a total of 9.
whassup...???
prayers and warm thoughts to Red Dog
oops..before I run..Deb, google Letterman show..I bet there will be a re-run online somewhere..Love Ya xoxox
Whiiiiiiiiiifffffffffffff. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh.
The air in here smells so fresh and clean today. Did someone throw open the window and do a little Spring, er...Summer cleaning?
Why it's downright refreshing!
I too have been a part of this community, be it here, or on the old listserve since the mid to late nineties. I forget the exact year, but no matter.
I too, have made many friends, had many great experiences and have many fond memories.
I was rummaging through older concert shirts the other day and stumbled across a few gems from the HTW/HTN fan club. A nice gray, "Don't Trust any Band under 30", and a peach colored "Peach and Love" shirt designed by Lana herself, I believe.
Great Scott - good to see you post, brother. I met you at Chastain Park in ('07 or '08?) with our mutual friend and Angel from Montgomery, Cee Cee Russell.
Good times, great peeps.
Sad that some supposed adults have to policed like naughty school children, but that's the cost of wanting to live in a polite, and respectful community.
Hip Hip Hazzah for the admins getting their arms around this thing. :fanfare:
Good week of music here on the Niagara Frontier this week.
Little Feat did thier thing at Artpark in Lewiston last evening on a beautiful night on the lower Niagara gorge.
Los Lobos will rock Buffalo's Lafayette Square on Thursay evening.
Herbie Hancock and Johnny Lang will be layin' it down at the Erie Canal Harbor on Friday night.
Then, at the same venue Gov't Mule will indeed be rockin' the Harbor on Saturday night.
Oh and next week, on different nights we'll get a taste of Doobie Brothers, Peter Frampton, Fabulous Thunderbirds and Devon Allman in and around the area.
Life is good.
Quick drive-by to say  cheers  and welcome home to our lost sheep...
Continued prayers for those in need..God bless..Rainy,please keep us updated on Joseph..
GAPeach, you would have loved one of the cars sold last week..the Jeff Gordon signature Monte Carlo...
Jodie, stick around, you brought a happy new feeling here and we all like it.
Stay sweet everyone...My 2 Kevins are heading to the auction, I get the afternoon off with the little darlin' Grandbabies..Swimming party at Grandmama's 🙂
:clapping: Great Scott and :clapping: Randy... wonderful reading.. Thanks for sharing...
Buppalo1, great post...and true. I love this band and this music and what it has meant to my life. I have so many memories of growing up with an 8 track of the ABB and riding around with my Dad in his black Monte Carlo with them wailing away. And now me and my sons do the same..... so the road will go on forever.
My 13 year old is such a fan we have a chocolate lab and a blonde one and their names are Oakley and Allman (he named them not me). i just think thats the greatest!!
But more importantly I am so glad that I finally found this place and all of you!!! It is a bright spot in a weary world, I am just so sad I didnt find it years ago!! So I could have been apart of all those great times yall share. Hopefully I will be apart of some of the new adventures...... :yep:
kinda feels like old times
