I sat on the last row, far left, against the wall, near the exit. I had arrived very early when the place was empty and could've sat anywhere.... I was crying too much and had to be near an exit. To know Bill is to have loved Bill and to have loved Bill is to have missed Bill. I have not lived the lessons that he taught me by his calling me friend. I try.

I think about that performance and that entire day often Dan. An auditorium full of hundreds of people from such a wide variety of backgrounds who had met Bill through various parts of his life was touching. The 12-15 people who got up and spoke about Bill from all these backgrounds was amazing. It was equally sad and uplifting. If people say 10% of the nice things about me that they said about Bill that day, I'll have lived a successful life. I can't think of "I know your rider" in the same way again. I sing it from the perspective that Lefty did that day...

.....to have seen Lefty play 'I Know You Rider' at Bill's memorial service..........I don't know how he got through it... "This one's for you Zorro..." One of the 10 most remarkable moments in my life. I miss Bill.

Here's a link to the Boston subway system. http://www.mbta.com/schedules_and_maps/subway/ Orpheum is right in the middle diamond where all the different color lines converge. Park St and Downtown Crossing are less than 5 minute walk and Govt Center is less than 10 minute walk to Orpheum. There are beautiful hotels within walking distance that is IF you can afford the nightly rate and the parking. Otherwise check into hotels in Malden (top of Orange line), Revere (near Logan airport, on top of Blue Line) Cambridge (top of Red Line), Quincy (bottom of Red Line) or Newton (top of Green line). Good luck and bring $$$!

Hi Jacquie, great to "see" ya! Life is good! Caught an awesome Mule show on Fri night on the waterfront in Boston. I hope things are good with you hon! Hey Benjamin, yes Orpheum is very near the "Downtown Crossing" station Park Street station and the "Government Center" station. Not a bad idea to look at hotels just outside of the city with easy access to the Green Line, Orange Line or Red Line.

I just got the sweetest PM from someone on the guestbook. To those of you who think the Brotherhood or "Sisterhood" is gone, boy are you mistaken. I am fairly new to this site, but I have been welcomed in like a prodigal daughter and have quickly made friendships that I know are going to last a lifetime. What Duane started is still alive and well and going strong. Thank you my sweet friend, you made my day!!! :flower:

Bum, that brings up a question....is there any public transportation method that goes to walking distance of the theater? last time i was there was for mule in 2003 or so - parking and driving was a nightmare - a city designed by Pilgrims!

ABB back at the ol Orpheum in B-town??!!? Awesome news!! When was the last time, 1993? Lana, the RV idea sounds like a blast but parking that puppy in Boston might be near impossible.

Hey Rainy, thats a beautiful clip attached to your page, is that near your house? Got my camera ready for this weekend sister! Will be snapping away to hopefully capture some great memories of a great night. Will be sending them your way soon. Would everyone please pray for my "Ma-Ma" she is 89 years old and we just put her in a Nursing Home. Went to see her last night and she has a big Goose egg the size of a golf ball on her forehead and her entire face is LITERALLY black and blue. She has senile demetia and doesnt know what happened to her, the nurse says she fell in the bathroom. It made me sick to my stomach, I know these things happen, I just pray that is really what happened. It is so hard to see her like that. She is my heart, because of her i know how to laugh and love, work hard, play harder, and REALLY cook. SOme of my fondest memories of my childhood are of her and cooking beside her. When I was too young to reach the counter, she would pull a stool up and make me cook with her. Biscuits, cornbread, all kinds of cakes, fresh vegetables etc.... and everytime we cooked she would always say, "shug you know the secret to being a good cook...sprinkle everything you make with love" Sometimes I wake up and realize I have been dreaming of that kitchen and I can still smell the food. What great memories.....forgive the rambling just feeling a little nostalgic today thinking of my Grandmother....Hope everyone has a great day, off to work.....
