Not too shabby folks!
Only 2 repeat songs from last night:
Statesboro and Inst. Illness - way to go ABB!
I haven't been able to type for the last half hour I'm in such shock! I had chills running through my entire body when I read Lana's post about Layla. I mentioned them doing this song months ago, but never, ever in a million years did I think it would ever happen.
It's a natural fit for the Brothers to do this song, I always envisioned Derek, Warren, and Gregg playing the beautiful coda of the song. Does anyone know if they even did the whole song, I mean the coda and all? O.K....how long do I have to wait for the BnP offers?
Eric Clapton used to do 44 blues in concert from time to time, it is an old Roosevelt Sykes tune.
I can't wait to see what other surprises are yet to come.
I guess I'm glad I wasn't sitting next to Rubba  :embarrass:
Wow. Speechless.
Layla? I would have messed myself.
Lana, totally understandable, don't even appologize!!! I haven't been this excited about ANYTHING in a long time. Wow! I can't wait to see the rest of the setlist. . .
Thanks Lana!
I think that's it! Bert mentioned Forty Four! :glow: Thank you!
If it is the "fourty four" from "out of the madness" that is one hell of a tune!!
You're welcome *k* and I wish I'd thought to ask more questions, but literally was too excited to think. In fact, it's hard to type - my fingers are shaking! :looney:
Two shows down, eleven to go ... the mind reels! Whooo hooooo!
Take care and know that you are loved,
Lana
WOW!!! That's amazing. Lana mentioned a song from Derek's unreleased cd. The set list for the first set mentioned they played "Forty-Four" which Derek covered on his released second album with Warren singing. Was that what you were thinking of Lana? Or did they did yet another one? LAYLA? I can't wait to hear about that one!!!
Thanks for all the info lana, what would we do without you:)
Drown in My Own Tears, maybe? Gregg sang that one...
Who sang Layla? Who did that dedication?
Hey there sweet family,
They also played a blues tune they've never done before, something off Derek's unreleased CD (which will be released) and, and, awwwww my brain quit working after hearing "Are you ready for this? Dedicated to our brother Duane Allman and our godfather Tom Dowd the encore tonight was Layla." That's when my voice kicked in and I started screaming, "Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh!"
Thanks for the call, Bert! (from the production office right after the show)
Take care and know that you are loved,
Lana
p.s. I *did* remember to thank them on behalf of everyone in the extended family 🙂
