I totally agree Bocat. Desdemona is one of the best songs I've heard in a very long time. I think maybe I've listened to it too much, but High Cost is also the one I keep going back to, also. I can't put my finger on why. Derek's solo, Gregg's vocals? I don't know. I heard it on the radio the other day too. Very exciting, even though I was just listening to it on CD...
Just got off the phone with Lee from Meechigan, PeachNutt and Scotty...I had to get a taste of tomorrow :rainbow: :twirl: :rainbow: :twirl:
I think it'll be good.
Desdemona is very good but High Cost is the one I keep going back to. Hey PJ, is New Port Richey really sparkling? My in laws live there.
Keep going back to Desdemona over and over on the new CD. Gregg's vocals are amazing and the haunting connection between his voice and instruments is downright creepy. Really nice to fill in all the words I could never figure out live. Still haven't been able to get it off the player. Only thing I've got to admit is that there was a smooth seemless connection between Duane and Dicky that flat out will never be repeated. Derek is good, but I think there are better slide players out there than him. Both current guitarists are rougher sounding and that edge somehow always seems to get in the way of me feeling this (or any) band will touch the original.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Matt and his brother. Sending good vibes their way.
Man, that Alan Paul is an amazing writer. I would go out of my way to read his grocery shopping list! His liner notes for Gregg's "One More Try" are just classic.
Dickey's picks for 60 Minutes are very surprising, and reveal his influences.
Somebody let me know if the rest of "Hittin' the Note" is as good as Firing Line. I can't stop playing that song; just keep hitting repeat on the cd player.
My prayers go out to our troops and our leaders.
Now more than ever: EAPFP!
As I write I'm giving the first listen to the last copy on the shelf of "Hittin the Note" from Best Buy in Westbury, L.I.
Who would have thought the Brothers would be recording in Hoboken? A great recording with the vocals and guitars sounding crystal clear. Although I think the band is missing Dickey's dynamics on guitar, this is solid effort with great songs."Woman Across the River","Old Before My Time" and "Old Friend" hit the note so far for me.
Very impressed with the sound of the record...and may inspire a trip to the Beacon...
I want to thank all of you for your messages and your prayers!
My Brother is in the ICU unit, and should be moved to a private room in the next 24 hours.
The PM's, the posts here, and over at my site have meant a lot!
I was right, there is strength and power in numbers...
So glad to be a part of this with all of you!

It has been a perfect Spring day in Peterman, Alabama today.
Sun has been out all day. Dogwoods and flowers blooming.
Went to Po and my Hittin' The Note has arrived. Also had a box from JoeRoy.
Put on Hittin the Note and opened JoeRoy box. It was a black thong. Just in time for my beach trip to Gulf Shores. Thanks JoeRoy I will try it out soon. I will be Jamming to Hittin' The Note in Gulf Shores and eating scrimp , CrabClaws and raw oysters.
Maybe a few beers. It's Springbreak for my daughter. I must make the best of it.
Hittin' The Note:
"Best since Eat A Peach " Per Gregg and Butch.
I remember when Eat a Peach came out. It was compared to Fillmore East.
Well Fillmore East stands alone.
Peach is part of Fillmore East plus Duane in Studio plus without Duane. It is a classic.
Brothers and Sisters came out and we were all excited. It is a great cd. Jessica is the top pick by far. Wasted Words and Ramblin Man got the air play. Come & Go is good. The band likes Sbound. the rest fair.
Wipe The Windows was fair. Jessica, DWYNM/Cross, Liz Reed, Ain;t Wastin.
Win Lose or Draw High Falls excellent
CLWYNH and WL&D fair. The rest below par.
E R Pagasus and What else.
Reach and madness of the West. Ya'll can judge these as they do not do much for me. At the time they were pretty fair.
Seven Turns. Again I was on fire. Who the hell is that guitar player with Dickey. Warren Who?
Gamblers Roll, True Gravity, Seven Turns great. Good clean, Loaded D, Low Down good. Rest fair.
Shades:

Live stuff;
IRSA
Acoustic Lizzy, GDTRF Bad, 7 Turns, Southbound, The rest pretty good.

Meanwhile back at the ranch.
Hittin The Note
I love it.
Derek and Warren play so well together. Oteil and drums keeps it going and Gregg sings and playes better than he has in a long time.
My choice is Desdemona.
Then the Inst Ill, High Cost, Old Before, Who To Believe, Rockin Horse it may be my second Fav, Woman, Firing Line, Heart of Stone, Old Friend all do it for me. Maydell is the only one that I have not warmed up to. I think HTN will stay with me for a long time.
Best since Peach I think so. Duane and Berry would be proud.
Peach for Peace

Ryan -- Great work on compiling that list of tunes played at the Beacon so far. Anyone else surprised by no "Stormy Monday" as of yet? Also, where did "Please Call Home" go? What a beautiful, heartfelt song that is. See ya'll tomorrow. Peach Out.
