Southpaw, Thanks for the info. Now I've got to go call my buddy in Denver and beat him over the head for not knowing that!!! We'll be there extra early to take in the parking lot scene and scenery. Now all I need is for someone to put me into a deep sleep for sixth months so I don't drive my wife nuts until the show..... 😀

Southpaw, we spend the morning fishing the Delores river, then into town for an afternoon of Blues and i am sure the ABB will close it up for the evening. Then its off to the Last Dollar saloon for mingleing with all the yokels . I am telling ya a good time will be had by all. Not to mention my old buddy Pete from college is running a microbrewery so I'll probably be able to buy ya a cold one Also, it is usually the time of year when the aspens are changing, not a more beautiful time in the San Juan Mountains

Amazingly good DTB show at the Birchmere last night...even my prog-rock friends were bowled over. If you ever have the opportunity to see this band in a small venue with no smoking, comfortable seating, and low tolerance for loud talking while the music's playing -- GO! Jim, Jen, John, Evan -- great seeing you. And thanks for the shows, J & J. 😉

Rowland....thanks for the explanation of the band's file downloading policy. As I said before, it really doesn't affect me much at this point because I don't have a high speed connection. However, if the primary purpose of the policy is to make it more difficult for people to obtain copies of live shows AND to mass distribute them for sale (i.e., bootlegging), I think this policy is just spitting into the wind. If someone wants to bootleg a show, it's easy enough to get a source copy through regular trading channels and then mass copy it. So once again, the band might want to reexamine the policy and reassess its relevancy in the digital download age. While I would love to see something along the lines of the Phish thing, I think $9.95 a show is a bit steep. That's not much less than a commercially released cd, and the production and overhead costs are virtually nil. I'd rather see lower prices (maybe $5 a show), which would lead to greater sales. Thanks for listening.....as always, ymmv.

Hey Libby...add Pa. to those travelin' dates...we'll learn some tunes through the mail then you can come out and do a gig or two with us! Now THAT would be a treat. 🙂 ABB 8/1 is Montage Mt. 20 minutes from the Nutt Hutt...could be a party/jam in the works...fire up that bass, E. Michael. :guitarist:

hey gang good friday morning:cool: I would have gladly paid 9.95 for the show with Layla in a shn format. I want the quality. although I do enjoy a little crowd noise, give me the soundboard download. Along with that quality of inconsistant burning from traders will go away. I have been guilty myself of not checkin something I burned and it has pops and passed it along? Bring it on, we have the technology:bounce:

That policy of phish may be fine if you just wan't a show or two but for those of us who can't get enuff we would have to take out a house loan to get the thousand shows the allmans have played on CD. The digital audio out there today is just is almost on par with soundboard and I prefer them to here some crowd noise with the show. I for one hope they never adopt that policy, restrict taping and force you to pay ten dollares for a show.

rowland and GB- good evening from the mountains of beautiful NC! in reference to your (rowland's) last post about "taping"/trading- first let me state that i totally agree with the basics of what you wrote. second- phish is a band with a similar philosophy as the ABB, as far as "taping"/trading- but the band phish has taken it a step further. a fan can download, as of their last winter tour, ANY show of phish, direct from the band's website in MP3 or Shorten music file format. these downloads are direct soundboard unedited files. the cost of the recent phish greensboro nc show- well any show for that matter, in MP3 format is $9.95 and the money goes to the artists since it is phish the band selling the shows. as a fan of phish i am delighted with this service from the band as we all covet soundboard recordings and i know that my money goes to phish. anyone can check this out at "http://www.livephish.com/". as an even greater fan of the ABB- i wish that this service was offered to ABB fans. imagine paying $9.95 per show, with the money going to the ABB and receiving direct soundboard recordings of all the recent beacon shows!!! phish has "solved" the problem of letting fans have the best sound possible of their concerts and it also keeps the money in the circle of the band. just my two cents of thought! ps- anyone here on the GB that's going to the DTB show at the handlebar in greenville, sc and would like to meet pre-show pm me and we'll get together!!!
