Regarding the Philly concert on August 5 -- it's at the Festival Pier at Penn's Landing, Columbus Blvd. and Spring Garden. I'm not sure what kind of seating, but I'll try to find out and pass it along. Also, tix go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. You can buy them via Ticketmaster or buy them in person, cash only ($39), at the Clear Channel office in Philly, 1231 Vine Street. See y'all there...

tunney - I started a Forum thread about the follow-up to Wintertime Blues. It's supposed to be released today, but nobody can find it anywhere. It's titled "Warren Haynes Presents: The Benefit Concert, Vol. 2" from the 2000 Christmas Jam -- and it's got sets by ARU, Mule w/ Schools, and the ABB with the Jimmy/Warren lineup. Anybody here from e-mule or the listservs heard anything about whether it's indeed being released today? The official Mule site hasn't been updated in quite awhile, nor has xmasjam.com (since before the 2000 Christmas Jam actually). (The new Mule live CD/DVD was just recorded the other day, so we're not talking about that one.)

Happy belated bday to Michael and Salsa Lee! I just read this quote off of the Mule list and thought a lot of you in this audience would find the final line very interesting: >>Haynes calls his schedule “full blast for the rest of the year,” with Gov’t Mule planning to issue a new DVD and double CD later this year, and Haynes set to release an EP of all acoustic material in June. “The stuff on the EP is sort of a preview of what kinds of things people can expect to hear from me in the future. I’ve been wanting to do more acoustic for a long time, and this is a great opportunity to get that music out to the public. But I’m still going to be with the Allman Brothers; that’s a gig that will always be number one with me.” <<

All of you 'in the know' re. on-sale info for the 8/5/03 Phila show. please keep the info flowing. I'm in north Joisey so no news up here about the show. My buddy in Phila. says he hasn't found any specific info.; on-sale date, reserved seating vs. GA, etc... Nothing on Ticketmaster. Strange that there such little info. about the show. HTW's link to Penn's Landing site only discusses events at there ampitheater. ABB are apparently at a different venue. Thanks!!

Many thanks to everyone for the birthday well-wishes. Seems like there are a bunch of Tauruses around here. But three in one day? Maybe El Cinco De Mayo should be a national holiday in this country too! Coot - Can't wait to get my hands on that CD. And it's a good thing you remembered not to spell that title out. Sang - Yep, I'll be in Chicago for the shows for sure. But when are they gonna add a third one? I'll save you a seat at Wrigley. :-p Stormy - Nice quote from John Prine. But I'm kind of partial to the lyrics of "Let's Talk Dirty In Hawaiian". Libby - I am making a concerted effort to keep my rear out of salsa bowls. The spicy stuff is hot on the keester! PhillyBob - Still working on Atlantic City. We'll see what happens, but I really want to hit that one. Linnie - You have a Philadelphia team that is going down starting tonight. Go Pistons!! MichaelWilliams - Congratulations on finishing your master's degree. Looks like we have that in common too. I finished mine a few months ago but it's finally almost official now. Finally, in the "You know you're getting old when" department; For my birthday I got three cards in the mail, one from Mom and one from Grandma. But the first one came from JC Penney. Ugh.

This site req's registration, so I was gonna post the whole article rather than link it, but the writer is rather elementary in his (lack of) skills, so I don't want to give him TOO much exposure. He also quite obviously shows his preconceptions going in to the review, so as a "journalist" he should've known better and recused himself if he knew ahead of time that he didn't like this kinda thing. At least he didn't screw up any of the most basics of facts - more than can be said for a lot of other "journalists" out there. But anyway, it's a review, so I'll link it here: Hittin' the Note http://www.pacepress.org/news/430959.html
