Allman Brothers Band to Appear on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno
The Allman Brothers Band will perform on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno next Tuesday, September 2. The program is broadcast nightly at 11:35 p.m. ET on NBC. The ABB, which has had the last couple of weeks off, kicks off the final leg of its summer tour on September 4 at Mountain Winery in Saratoga, CA. The itinerary is rounded out by dates in Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, Colorado and Washington, where the tour concludes on September 21 at the Puyallup Fair.
Happy Birthday Stacy!...Have a great one!
For some vintage Woody thunder bass playing...take a listen to "Devil Likes It Slow" from the live Mule Disc, "...Help From Our Friends" , absolutely brilliant playing from the Wood man. Jazzy as hell and ultra-powerful. Woody makes a lot of good bass players sound like they're playing at half-speed.
The Mule still rocks today but if you need a power trio fix, early Mule is sure tough to beat.
peace
Howdy Lee,
You and I were at the Mule and the Allman Brothers shows within a couple days of each other.
I saw the ABB's 7/26/00 at Deer Creek with Jimmy Herring playing guitar with Derek. HOT TUNA opened and Jorma and Jack pounded us.
I saw the Mule 3/31/00 in INDY at the free street fest. That is the last time I saw Woody. Woody during his bass solo broke a string. I loved his attitude toward playing bass. Monster man.
Lee, Are you going to both Mule shows in OCT in Chicago?
Cheers, Charlie
Karen - I think that 7/30/00 Toronto show should go down as one of the best ABB shows ever. A real classic. Jimmy, Derek AND Warren? Together? Are you kidding me? I've always been partial to Dreams, but the version they did that night was spectacular.
Last time I saw Woody was 4/1/00 Mule at St Andrews Hall in Detroit. NMAS opened for them and I think it was the last night they were with Mule. During NMAS' set, Warren and Matt came out and before long, Woody joined them. I think they all played on about 1/3 of the NMAS set. Then during Mule's set, Marc Ford played the whole second set and Luther Dickinsen joined them for the encore. A truly fantastic night of music. I was floored! btw, I know I've spread this show far and wide, but if anyone needs this, give me a shout and I'll hook ya up.
:-p :-p :-p :-p :-p
Just saw on Warren's site that his solo accoustic cd thats comin out next year is a studio effort. Looking forward to hearing that but wish it had been from live recordings from various brother and Phil shows. Really enjoyed his solo set at Red Rocks last Sept.
A live EP is available tho on his site
:birthday: to Stacy!
Watched the "Hurt" video this morning and it made me weep; powerful stuff.
Old Coot - When it comes to me and Linnie, you just never know - like I said - you have to be there!!

😎
Thanks for the Birthday wishes!!
Jeanne, I would have to concur with Linnie on the death threats if the Bobbie McGee pics/tape were ever released! LOL It's one of those things that ya had to be there for!!
Hey Woody! I am right there with ya bro when CNN reported the top females on the list were somebody and Joan Jet, Bonnie is is the WO-man! Just goes to show these rating of players is a joke! It is good to see Duane get the nod tho. Think I'll play some Duane in class this morning. Another group to educate!
:fanfare: Happy Hoochie Coochie Birthday to Stacy!! :fanfare:
Michael...I was just funnin' with Linnie. I think there were subtle death threats thrown around if that performance was captured on film. There's a great still shot of Jacquie enjoying it from the sidelines, though! *grin* Stacy & Linnie are two who definitely know how to have fun and let it all hang out! Wallflowers they are not!
 Happy Bday, Stacy!
Make it a wacky one, sista! :rainbow:
good morning...nice to see duane get his props, but RS is for 12 year olds...

To my sweetie sister HoochieCoochieGirl (a/k/a Stacy)
Stac and I saw our first ABB show together, our first Beacon show together, and we've been on many musical road trips (including a couple of GABBAs and the two LamJams). Have a great day Sis...Love ya!
P.S. Sorry I'm playing hooky from work today or I'd take you to lunch.
Love to hear them play "High Cost" on Leno.
I give 10 stars to Jay's chin.
RIP - Woody
The last time I seen Woody was in Toronto on 7/30/00.....Jimmy Herring was on for the summer. As I turned to look stage right, there smiling at the crowd was Warren and Woody....I tell ya, seeing them Brothers grinning ear to ear made everything okay, I knew my heart was full and I too was grinning like an idiot as they came out and ripped into Soulshine. The crowd went absolutely wild.....as did I.
Thanks for the music Woody and much love.....Three years ago was such a sad day but the consolation is, it's a beautiful thing knowing you're setting up with Brother Duane....
Later, Karen
