The Patriot Act is going to/has crushed your right to privacy, all in the name of National Security. Unfortunately once the rights are taken away they are very hard to get back. Vote for people who oppose this Patriot Act, I'll take my chances without it. Keep America Free or the terrorists have already won.
My boyfriend did not get stopped for DUI, we don't drink and drive. the point I was trying to make was if a cop comes after you for whatever reason, be aware that you are recorded and taped before he even approaches the car !!! This new device is being used NATIONWIDE. I know sometimes I get frustrated when people do stupid things of the road and I usuallly swear at them but not anymore. You never know when a cop is behind you.
The cop told bob he could have charged him with several counts of raod rage for swearing at this driver. Luckily he did not. Just beware that you never know who is watching you when you are in your car. The thought of cops being able to hear people talking in their vehicle scares me to death!!!! it is just another way for them to intimiadate us. So just keep you eyes open and your mouth shut...no matter how angry you get.
This incident happend to bob at 11:30 am while he was on his wau to a job..........big brother IS watching. Seems this device works from1 mile away.....scary indeed.
Happy Birthday, Melissa! :fanfare:
I hope everyone stays warm, dry, and safe throughout all of these storms!
Tony, I guess it's all relative, indeed! The four or five inches of snow that we got has pretty much shut my neighborhood down. I'm just cocooning today and not really accomplishing much of anything. Hey, I need to do some typing!
I picked up The Deepest End on Saturday and highly recommend everyone to check it out - it's sooooo good. I've been waking up in the morning singing Mule songs!
Hi there Brothers and Sisters,
Happy Birthday Melissa:birthday:
May all your dreams come true!
I was thinking last night about how I got turned on to ABB. I honestly don't remember. I think I heard One Way Out on the radio and ran out and bought Eat A Peach, proceeded to wear that out and then got the Fillmore East LP. Beginnings and Brothers & Sisters followed.
I do remember turning my best friend Barbara on to the Brothers and then my brother Bob. This was in the early 70's, I'm thinking 1972.
Gee...I wonder why I can't remember...
Man.. the crowd used to really get into those cartoons! You'd hear the "Ooohs and Ahhhhs" when the characters would beat up on each other. Too funny. Great memories, Zambi. Maybe Ticketmaster can foot the bill for the intermissions!
....and in regards to the debated DUI post, FYI. For those who have never spent a night in "The Tombs" in NYC, if you have nothing to hide, blow into the freakin device. No need to be a smart ass and refuse it. You'll just end up spending a night - or nights if its Friday - you will want to quickly forget. Takes days to get that stink off.....
drinking and driving is never a good idea, but...
FYI, a common trick is to return your ID and to continue questioning. most people think once the ID is returned you are off the hook...answer with yes or no whenever possible. don't volunteer info, they will do the silent routine and often people can't keep quiet...keep yer mouth shut...
oh, and vote for candidates who support privacy and due process rights...
as you were...
John, the point I was trying to make is this...once a cops suspects you of anything, brake light out, etc........you are at their mercy. And once they activate this device they can see and hear everything you do inside your car. My boyfriend was NOT stopped for DUI, he was stopped for aggressive driving.
In florida, if a copy suspects you of DUI.whether you blow or not.you go to jail and lose your license for 1 yr. All my lawyer told us was NEVER BLOW cuz that sobriety test can be used in court. I don't drink and drive any more either. It just scares me to know that cops and tape and record you without telling you that you are being taped.
Last week I saw a Betty Boop t-shirt at a store and it made me wonder whether the ABB would bring those cartoons back. Seems like the ABB started cutting costs as attendance fell off....wonder if royalties on those cartoons was too expensive for the band to be footing. Or would the venue be the one to foot the bill?
I'm not sure if this has been brought up yet, but a few of our collective favorites (ABB/Mule/dTB) have been nominated, and voting has begun:

Hey Zambi, I'm with you: About 8 years ago I saw the Betty Boop "Crazy Town" cartoon during an intermission at Pine Knob and it was one of the funniest things I ever saw. Needless to say my Friends were pretty happy at the time & the cartoon made the night even better.
Hey there sweet family,
:birthday::flower2::spinner:Happy Birthday, Melissa!:spinner::flower2::birthday:
Bluefox, I was just outside and the sleety rain has started again ... must be Round 2 knocking on Raleigh's door. :cold: Thanks very, very much for thinking about us. Hope you're snug and secure too.
Take care and know that you are loved,
Lana
I was introduced to the Allman Brothers Band actually before they were
known as such. I knew about Duane and Gregg while they performed as the Hourglass and the Allman Joys.
Unable to actually get into the clubs, we would sit outside places like the Casino on Pensacola
Beach and listen. Later, my best friends big brother who lived in Macon,
was asked to be a roadie for the band. About the time he was to accept, he was drafted and away he went on an all expense paid vacation
to scenic Vietnam. By the time the first album came out, we were all living in Gulf Breeze, FL
and the day the record hit the stores, we had it. I will never forget the moment my best friends
brother burst into the room yelling, "they did it!!, come hear Duane and Gregg!! This is the Allman Brothers Band."
Well, we managed to wear out 3 of those albums that summer as it did not come off the old
Pioneer turntable except to flip it over. The rest was history.
Long live the spirit of Brother Duane.

:cold: Lana, more freezing rain heading your way!!! Our local 14 News Channel say that it may be worse than last year for power outages!! Hunker down!! We are in Charlotte!! 3 deaths yesterday here due to bad roads and people not slowing down!!!!! There IS a difference between snow and ice!!! Stay safe everyone!!! We got a trip to make in March!!
In response to Debbies post.
If you are not drinking alcohol and are pulled over pulled over by the police you should take the breathalyzer test. You're refusing to take it will only add to the officers suspicion that you are drinking.
If you are drinking alcohol the decision is yours to make. If you refuse in NY you're license is automatically suspended and you will most probably be arrested for DUI/DWI.
You will be brought to a testing location and asked to take the breathalyzer again while being video taped. We have all seen these tapes on the various true life police shows. They are rarely complimentary for the person suspected of DWI.
I have heard some defense lawyers say that if you are drinking to refuse the breathalyzer but am not sure how that will help you in court. If you get a cop who has testified in a DWI case before he will know what he needs to say and do to get you convicted. His testimony along with a video of you and your refusal to take the breathalyzer will probably get you convicted. Of course this is only if you are DWI/DUI.
The bottom line is don't drive drink and drive. Most of us have friend's who will be glad to pick us up and drive us home if we call them. Walk or take a cab otherwise. We've seen enough carnage on our roads, lets not add to it.
Be safe,
John
Any word if they're bringing back the cartoons at intermissions for this year's Beacon run?
I shovelled snow Saturday. And Sunday. Have at least 2 and a half feet in my yard, mostly pack.... with 5 foot piles. Now another foot forecast over next 24 hours. So I'm watching the Weatherchannel on site man somewhere back east (DC?) showing a few inches of slush and then zooming in on a 3 foot little pile a snow plow pushed up.... I had to chuckle, it truly is relative I guess.....
Happy Monday Folks,
Thanks to so many of you for sharing your ABB intro's to your lives with us all...thoroughly enjoyed the reads. 🙂
Sending :birthday: wishes to our Sweet Melissa...22 yrs today and she's had her share of ABB shows with Mom and Dad, not to mention the daily intrusion of ABB we've put her through, but it's all good. She's also taken Shailee (our grandbaby) to her first in the womb ABB show at Darien Lake in 2002. One of the her best lines, as Mom is dancing around the kitchen prepping dinner one night....Melissa say's "it's supposed to be the Mom and Dad telling us to turn the music down, not the other way around..." 😆
Beacon fever has hit all parts of the world...with visions of preshow parties, conga lines, gb folk taking over Broadway on the upper west side and THEN there is the music...
 :flower2: 😎
Later, Karen
ps - only 52 more sleeps
Good Old Monday Mornin, the students have filled all there chairs
Early morning coffee is all I need to get me there..........
Yea Southpaw, the ABB have been the inspiration for a couple of wonderful adventures in the past. I am sure they will be this summer as well!
Something very strange happened to my boyfriend last week thought I would share it with all of you.
He was driving down a mani drag in Palm Beach County.
A woman cut him off. He finally passed her and swore at her. Well, this woman got in front of him and was tapping her brakes trying to make him hit her. So he stoped several feet behind her to avoid any problems. Out of the blue, he sees flasing lights behind him. The cop told him to pull over and wait there. He then chased the other driver, gave her a ticket and came back to him.
When he approached the car, he said to Bob, did you swear at that driver? He then repeated what Bob has said to her. He ws shocked. It seems the police have a new device that they carry in their pocket. When he turns on his lights and activates this device. It automatically viideos tapes the car and the conversation inside your car. The cops told him he had everything on tape if he wanted to see it. Of course, Bob said nothing and took the ticket.
We talked to a lawyer and a couple of local cops. It seems this device is being used nationwide. As of right now, it can't be used in court but the judge is allowed to view the tape before entering the courtroom.
So if any of our ever see flashing lights behind you, say nothing cuz you will be on tape. We were also told if you get stopped for a DUI, NEVER take a breathalyzer or a sobriety test. That tape can be used in court aginst you, but if you refused the test, you will have a good chance of getting off on a DUI.
Pretty scarey stuff. But just be aware BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING ALL OF US !!
If any lawyers out there have any more info on this device, I hope they will share it with us.
