On the topic of the SRO tickets: I'm in the Loge for Sat. 3/27, flying in from WI. Have a good friend from CT who I'd like to enjoy the show with. If I grab him a SRO ticket, is he limited as to where he can go? Can he make his way up to the Loge? Ron

I think I have a good idea . That would worry some people.. Here it is: Regarding JNB's post about sales of the archive releases and what could be done to help boost them. Most of you have seen what goes on at e-bay. The Instant Lives are apparently quite valuable. If you have ever bought anything on E-bay like CDs you know that you often get with your purchase information on the seller's web site or used record store or what ever. Why wouldn't HTN or JNB or somebody put 1 copy of each Archive Release, Each of the Instant Lives (if there were any which I understand there may be some on the way?) Maybe even an Atlanta Pop and a Hittin' The Note up for Auction separately. Advertised as brand new still in the wrap. Put a “Buy It Now” deal on the archives and Instant Lives at say $5.00 or $10.00 more than they sell them at HTN. The Hittin' The Note & Atlanta Pops would probably have to be sacrificed at slightly less than store value so maybe not a good move there. Any way , They will sell fast and when they do you send them one of those cool color flyers that used to come with the magazine and a link to the website and a Gift Certificate for $5.00 off a purchase of $25 or what ever. You could even offer them incentives for referring their friends. Every time one sells put another one out there. The worst thing that can happen is you sell a few CDs every day. But it's not only free advertising you get to sell things as you do it. Hell put the T Shirts and everything else out there. E-bay doesn't care they get a cut. and ALOT of ABB stuff sells there so it seems like a perfect way to sell more stuff at the right price, get the website in front of people AND you get to screw up the people trying to sell things at over 1000% profit because you put the "Buy It Now Deal" on there to keep the prices fair. How's that work?

Hey, thanks for turning me on to Jerry Douglas. I visited his site and then went to Amazon.com and was able to hear a sample of his version of Little Martha. It sounded great. That was enough for me to order the cd. I listened to the other samples and they were also great. What a great, great player.

Standing room tickets for all nights at Beacon are availabe on TM now. Be mindful of the ticket limits. Don't lose your good seats because of getting greedy with the standing rooms. I wouldn't touch 'em until I have my Orchestra seats in my hand.

Thanks Peachnutt, That's something to think about. I just listened to Time Step today for the first time and when I heard Little Martha I had to look at the songs again and even get my magnifying glass out to see if Duane was mentioned anywhere in the fine print. Rather strange isn't it? I agree, Leo is something else. I just wish he would have given Duane the credit he deserves.

A few years back before the site updated and the band had the original 4 core members, Butch Trucks posted in fact, that they changed the keys of a couple pf songs to accomodate Dickey Betts' voice. As Charlesinator mentioned, a lot of bluegrass and Country songs are written in the key of G. I don't think Blue Sky or Ramblin' Man was however. On Highway Call, the second and third songs Rain and Highway Call are written in G. The kick off song, Long Time Gone, isin F# however. It's quite possible that the song was felt to be a bit too fast and the producer, Johnny Sandlin slowed down the tape. A common trick back then which infuriated guitar players who were trying to learn a song! HA! 😆 :lol2:  There is a rumer Red Dog, that Dickey IS doing Little Martha on the up coming CD.... hope it's true! He does own the original Dobro that was Duane's (See cover of Highway Call) I think it's a 1932? Wouldn't it be the cajones if he used that original guitar on the recording?????!!!! Hey Red, you should ask him!

Can anyone out there tell me why Little Martha was not mentioned on Leo Kottke's Time Step CD? It lists 11 songs on the CD and cover but Leo does his full version of Little Martha at the end of the CD, making it 12 songs. No mention of the title, Duane, no credits, no nothing. Just wondering what's up with that.

Out there somewhere is a video from the second Jam for Duane. Brent was breaking in a new guitar player, Matt Harvey. When the night ended, nobody wanted to leave, everybody clamoring for Blue Sky. Although they had never played it together, the band said, What the hey, we're among friends," and gave it a shot. When the guitar break came, neither Brent or Matt let up, just launched right in to Duane's solo from EAP. Nobody backed off, they played both solos and the hand-off in perfect TWIN lead, note-for-note from EAP. You couldn't hear the last minute or so because everybody there was on their feet screaming at what was happening. One of the most magical moments of music I have ever experienced. More of the legacy of Duane Allman...and Dickey Betts. EAPFP
