>>On another note, Mike Williams goes pro ... the dynasty is over .....<<
Dynasty? 2 good years makes a dynasty? I guess at UCLA it does.
Dude, we got the #2 and #3 WR recruits in the nation this year, one of which is already enrolled in school.
This is merely a flesh wound.
All that being said....Mike should have stayed. He could have been the #1 pick next year. I just hope he goes top 7 this year.
to dig some different oteil, check out the "the stranger's hand"...w/steve smith, jerry goodman, and that skinny, tall harmonica/keyboardist who was an original flecktone...(too lazy to go find the cd)...i digs da scat...all love and props to brother berry oakley..but OB is the best musician to hold that chair...
on pacifica yesterday i heard chaka khan singing "them there eyes" backed by chick, lenny and stanley....playing it VERY straight...
but i gotta tell ya...todd smallie is sick...when unleashed...
Stanely Clarke ... wicked ! I saw Return To Forever at the Universal Ampitheatre ( before the roof ! ) ....
What a show ! DiMeola was on fire .... Lenny White/Stanely Clarke were awesome .... This might have been around the time of Romantic Warrior(?) ....
On another note, Mike Williams goes pro ... the dynasty is over .....
Hi all1 Got my email message about the Beacon tix so I am now just waiting for the real thing. Time is speeding up as the date gets closer.
Big Mike-blanks are in the mail.
Josh check your PM
Bass Players, Funny you should ask!
Berry sure could get in your face with his aggresive style of playing. That's what inspired me to start playing bass in 1968.
The Bass players that have turned my head are: Berry, Awesome
Jack Casady(my teacher
Jack Bruce, Yikes!
John Entwistle( Oh My!
A. Woody
Phil Lesh
Les Claypool
Oteil
Paul Jackson
The guy who removed my head was the best I have ever seen,
JACO, with Weather Report in 1978, 3rd row at Lisner in DC.
He left this earth in 1987. Jaco, Hendrix, Duane, Berry, Keith Moon, are jamming. What a band in Heaven.
Hey well here's an important post!...
My e-mail says:
Your Beacon Tickets have been printed and will be shipped shortly! Now thats what I call good news!
Back to your regularly scheduled programming... Been enjoying all the music talk...Its nice to see the all the passion in our favorite band.

As for the bassists...... for me, Berry Oakley is the creme' de la creme". He was a joy to watch and hear.
....and then there was Woody!
:guitarist:
Peace
Woody, Gotta agree with Stanley Clark, one of the most powerful shows I think I ever saw was Return to Forever. Incredible music and musicians. I was a youngster in High School but I knew what I was hearing was special. Stanley Clarke, Al DiMeola, Chick Correa, and if my memory serves me well lenny White on the drums. Incredible band
Speaking of Cowbells...... Graham Nash has nightmares about Matt Abts w/ regard to cow bell playing. Graham can stand there and bang away all night w/ a single drumstick but breaks out in a cold sweat just thinking about Matt hammering away on Thorazine.
Sorry 'bout the digression but after witnessing CSN&Y their past 2 tours Graham's cowbell playing during Stills smokin' solos has been some what of a running joke around these parts.
Triangle? There are some world class trianglist's out there.
Hey there sweet family,
I think the only category where there's no debate is rain sticks. Artemis Pyle rules! :king:
Take care and know that you are loved,
Lana
Hey, let's rate tambourine "players"? Tambourinists? Rattleheads? I LOVE tambourine, right after cowbells and gongs......
Beat up the guitarists and turn our attention to bass players, this is fun! Can't create any controversy here though, my list looks like everyone elses. Wait, yes I can, BO was damed good, but best lead bass of all time - You can't ignore Stanley Clark, also John Entwistle was amazing, until I saw him I didn't have a clue how much of the Who's sound was him just flying over the bass.
Please add Bird72 to those who add pessimism ( Sang, spell check!) to the forum decorum...he is the King Daddy of that!
I'm teasing, Tony's contribution to the forum in his Hep C thread is helpful, beneficial and very important! He's correct about his drivel, however!
Michael, you have to be a little more creative than, "that's right"! 😉
For those with ticket anxiety, mine never arrived at all last year. Called TM about a week out, explained the situation, picked 'em up at Will Call, like Bluefox said. No problem at all.
Congrats to Rob. I wonder if this is the same Rob Johnson who gave me several discs at Walnut Creek on 9/23/2000. I never got to meet you. If this is the man Thanks!
Libby:
"I can honestly say that for the most part, it is senseless drivel that racks up the posts for most cellar dwellers. I, myself included."
Hey, hey, hey! Wait a minute lil lady.... My drivel has sense, is logical, and also witty and fun. It is head and shoulders above all other drivel. Drivel Supreme. Drivel Deluxe. Don't rain on my Drivel.
100 forum posts TODAY, Stacy?
So, Libby, are you saying it's mostly adding things like "That's right!" to a thread? 😀
I think I'm still in single-digit forum posts...
It's sure nice hanging out with all of you young people over here! :-p :-p :-p
i think the forum is easier to follow up on, since its all categorized and what not....just an opinion....i use "today's messages" there and you can see all the different new posts to different threads. 🙂 gives 'wasting time' a whole new meaning!
Welcome aboard, Brother Rob Johnson!
