Wow, some cool posts today on guitarist...one of my fav subjects. I can't begin to have a best of, only to say that Duane would probably be all of the top 12-15. Dickey, Toy, Warren, Dan, Derek, Johnny W., BB, Freddie, Albert K.(one of the coolest), EC, man, the list could go on & on cause they all had killer solos on record. Tough case, Johnny W. or MB?? Man, I love 'em both. No doubt, both are stellar BLUES players. Both their respective works with Muddy are great. I listen to MB sometimes for the raw clarity in the fills and tone. Man, the cat could wail. We do Born in CHicago, and a few other tunes played by both these cats. All good. I heard Betts &GS come out and open with Freddie Kings instrumental, damn the title escapes me, but it killed the crowd. Really cool. Lots of great blues, "she's a lovin' me everyday and a everynite, just as much as she can". AAHHwwooo!! Jam for Duane. spdb

Saw where Clapton is auctioning off 61 guitars @ Christies. For a mere 50K-100K you too can have a piece of guitar history. Nice that it goes to charity for a chemical dependency clinic in Antigua. Does that mean it's free? NOT. Somehow it is hard to imagine us average Joe's heading down to the Carribean to get the old monkey off our backs .

Hey Buppalo, "I took his advice, things goin well But my Friends are far and few Whoever said a city boy can't have them country blues Whoever said a city boy can't have them country blues Whoever said a city boy can't have them country blues Well honey they aint talked to me and You" One of my All time favorites MTB, "Bob Away My Blues" off Searchin For a Rainbow I'd like to say the only Country better than the Good Ole USA is Peach Country...... right here. I'm always spoutin off my opinions here. Often when I diagree with someone. I am just rarely offended by anything here but I don't mind disagreeing. A few weeks ago it was Red Dog and since then we have communicated nicely by PM. Ive got a book, a DVD and a CD and thats really cool. I am really glad to have encountered him. His DVD is fun to watch too! Yesterday I spouted off some opinions that disagreed with some things and I got 3 of the nicest messages, 1 email 2 pms. All hoping that they hadn't offended me. Shoot man I'm not sure I'm a good enough person to hang with ya'll. I expect I offend people all the time. I certainly don't try too but I do speak my mind. You all are the greatest bunch on the planet and I thank you for lettin me in. :waving:

Hiya brofan. Hope all is well. When comparing Winter & Bloomfield's places in rock/blues/etc., I think the thing that pushes Michael ahead for me is his work on East/West, & his contributions to Dylan's Highway 61 sessions. He also forced Al Kooper to become an organ player right on the spot > leading to "Like a Rolling Stone." Real ground breaking stuff. But both of them were essential in promoting the blues-"Made in the USA" style. Great ambassadors. Obviously, both of them could raise absolute hell on their instrument. Like somebody said, they were ruthlessly inconsistent in their output. Have any of you folks heard the Lost Fillmore Concert that was just released last year? It actually has Johnny's debut at the Fillmore East, sitting in on the Super Session for "It's My Own Fault." Listen to the crowd's reaction when Johnny sings the first verse, & let's his fingers talk. And Michael responds. After listening to it, you'll realize they were both completely voodoo.

...Remain alert!.. I guess I'll jump in on this fave guitar solos thread,I didn't look at the original list, but I love everything any ABB player has done, bar none 😀 but one of my all-time faves is Bodhisattva by Denny Dias & Jeff "Skunk" Baxter from Steely Dan's Countdown To Ecstasy, man I love that!! On the PBBB thang,I remember seeing Dickey's band of the 80's doing Born In Chicago(in Chicago)a couple of times,so if Mr. Betts played it,it's more than alright in my book 🙂 As for the lyrics thread,my fave is at the bottom of every one of my posts & we should all know where that's from 😀 :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: THANK YOU ROWLAND!!! :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: THANK YOU LANA!!! :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: ..the world needs more lerts! 😎 ...
