Set One: Don't Want You No More> It's Not My Cross to Bear Every Hungry Woman The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down Good Morning Little Schoolgirl* Wasted Words* Statesboro Blues* Rockin' Horse> No One to Run With Set Two: Key to the Highway* Ain't Wastin' Time No More Black Hearted Woman Same Thing Need Your Love So Bad Can't Lose What You Never Had Don't Think Twice# Dreams> Liz Reed>drums>bass>jam (Derek, Butch, Oteil, Kofi Burbridge on flute)>Liz Reed e) One Way Out* * = with Thom Doucette on harmonica # = with Susan Tedeschi on guitar and vocals It was a Warren Dreams, Gregg sang the first and last parts of Key to the Highway - Warren got the middle - and Kofi showed up just for that jam after Oteil's bass solo (no scatting tonight). Some notes: first of all, everybody involved with the Left Coast party deserves a huge hand. The raffle raised $2400 for Rock and Wrap it Up! The number of people from the family who showed up was just amazing. Great to see a lot of familiar faces, and some new ones too, of course. We had guests from Scotland and Siberia (and they were pals!), plus Del from Norway of course. I'm glad I ran into you again, Scotty. Have a good trip back to Cali. The party actually happened in two rooms: the Left Coast Suite, and the "jam room," where guys like EasyMichael and LamDog and others played their music and somehow avoided having the cops called on them. 😉 It was just my night tonight. We were lucky to get in in the first place, and then the band delivered so much. I finally got my Can't Lose What You Never had (first time played since late 1981, about six months before I was born), and Need Your Love So Bad for the first time in close to 7 years. Derek was Derek, which means he somehow has upped his playing to another level. He seemed very confident onstage, and on several songs (Schoolgirl, Rockin' Horse, Key to the Highway) he just went nuts. I think his best was on Elizabeth Reed (I remember EddieP noticed tonight was six years after the great double-Liz show). He just blew the place apart... Gregg couldn't do his organ solo until the applause died down. There were some surprises in the setlist, but in a way there was a back to basics theme. A lot of blues songs, only one Hittin' the Note song. Aside from Rockin' Horse and No One to Run With, the 'newest' song played tonight was Need Your Love So Bad, which is about 25 years old. The rest were all vintage ABB and covers.

Thanks for the updates, Carol. The effort is appreciated. If memory serves, about this time last year, you, Libby, Benjamin, and me were watching you flop around in the back of a taxi on our way to meet up with your dancing partner at the Derek show at the Lion's Den? btw: BASKETBALL IS A WONDERFUL SPORT!!!!
