Will definitely send a donation for Jimmy Nalls. Dave Duncan is an old friend of mine from my Flagstaff days. Great guy! So is Jimmy Nalls a great person as well as a great musician. Will write a check and say a prayer today.
Thanks anyway guys. Nothing will ever top last year anyway. Cake from Carol, Libby, and Benjamin, Layla that night from the Brothers.
Finally got some JFD disks ready to go. The first 4 on my list are Patrick Crenshaw, Charlsinator, Stormy, and Leon.

Carol, the seeds came Sat.
Leaving for a cross-state trip to pick up my taxes. Very bad news this year.
The "Listen" part of the Philzone.com site is playing the first Beacon Friday, just starting "Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad?" They've been rotating this show with some Ratdog and Phil.

Happy Belated Birthday, Randy!
Folks, Buppalo had a birthday March 21st and I'm pretty bummed that I missed it.....so let's send belated birthday wishes to Brother Randy Stephens!
:birthday:Buppalo:birthday:
As always I am humbled by all the wonderful thoughts from all you people.
Thank you very much for the Birthday wishes.
And thanks to Wayne for 3-20-I popped that puppy in the CD player yesterday for the drive to Chicago and MAN! Every Hungry Woman is just ferocious, teetering on the brink of chaos, a good thing in my book. They are just killing it. This is the best version of this tune I have ever heard, bar none.
Derek's rhythm guitar is just rock solid and his lead work is light years ahead of where it was two years ago. I think somebody pointed out that Warren seems to almost be deferring to Derek, hanging back and playing more fills and letting Derek have the spotlight and solos more often than not. Since I'm one of the few who thought that Derek's guitar was mixed too low on HTN I love it when he's upfront in the mix.
I could also hear what Butch was talking about when he mentioned "soft intensity" or "controlled intensity"-Ain't Wastin' Time No More has that feel and Derek has made this one his own, along with Stand Back.
Based on what I've heard so far, (3-19 and 3-20) they have bolted out of the gate like a young quarter horse that loves to run for just for the pure joy of it. Instead of an elephant on the cover of HTN they should have put a young stallion running free in the wind because that's what this band evokes for me right now.
I don't know if they just did a lot of rehearsing this time around, but they are READY.
Bring on the summer!
Friends and Family,
As I posted last week, there is going to be a benefit for Jimmy Nalls, guitarist for Sea Level, this week in Nashville. Below are the details on time, place, and where you can send a donation to help out our good friend. Jimmy has been fighting his Parkinson's disease for many years, and he continues to fight it with bravery and strength. The costs of his medications, however, are becoming prohibitive, and that is where we can step in and help out someone who is part of the family and could use a helping hand.
If you can be there, I assure you that the music will be outstanding. If not, take a moment and send a good thought out and whatever you can afford to do for Jimmy and his family.
All of us at Kid Glove thank you for thinking about this fine man - go take a listen to some old Sea Level and remember how good it all was, and how good it still is!

Hey now!
Hope everyone had a nice Easter yesterday. If I do say so myself, I looked pretty darn sharp in my wedding suit at church. Not that anyone (except Nicole) noticed, since Highland Presbyterian Church was of course bursting at the seams with folks making their semi-annual apprearances at their local house of worship.
😀
Anyway, the week is finally here!! Friday's rehearsal dinner should be interesting. My mother and father, who haven't seen each other in about 20 years, will be sitting down at the same table. They both assure me that it's all good, so I'll try not to get stressed about it.
On an unrelated note, I heard an interesting tidbit on the radio today. On April 12, 1954, Bill Haley and the Comets recorded a little ditty called "Rock Around The Clock."
As the disc jockey aptly put it, "The world has been a better place ever since."
The Sun is out now.
I'll try Dead 2-14-03
