hey gang good morning:cool:
hey mscave.....yes caught john mayall on thursday down here.....at 70 he looks great and he stood his whole show back and forth from keys, guitar & harp....his show down here was absolutly awesome, dancin and having fun, man I was pooped....
what energy he has... I highly recommend his show if he is in your area:waving:
Deb,
You should have called, I am easy to talk into shows. I saw him a few years ago when there were still zoo concerts and he was very spry-I wish I was as spry!
Now I am trying to figure out when the ARU reunion in Boulder fits when compared to all the other band dates that are involved. That's probably the hardest thing with all our favorite musicians since they all seem to like playing with everyone they can.
unclepat....Glad you're going to the Gorge on the 3rd.....but the fact that it is the first time seeing them outside the Beacon......
Brother you've been spoiled!!!
Though I've heard (& seen pictures) of the Gorge being the second best venue in America (behind this small place in Morrison, CO) the Beacon isn't a bad place to catch a Brothers show!!!!!
Is it July 9th yet?
Hey David, the dTb was on our local PBS station this evening (Saturday), on the Mountain Stage show. They played So Close, So Far Away and Gonna Move. Good versions of both.
Randall, any idea exactly when Derek will be on the Mountain Stage show? I checked pbs.org and they had no listing of it. I also don't know whether you meant today, saturday or sunday. Thanks so much. Peace.
David
Two great nights of local music this weekend, centered on the keyboard work of Stephen McCollough. Those who were at the last Jam (or have the disks) know about Big Stephen. He played with different groups Fri. and tonight, outstanding.
Got the Preakness right too. Tri. and Super. BTW, Smarty is a colt--not a filly. His namesake is a filly.
The elusive football salesman draws ever closer.

Just a reminder that the Derek Trucks Band is scheduled to be on the Mountain Stage show on PBS tonight. Check your local listings!
Hope everyone's havin' a good weekend!
Way to go Linnie. That horse looked head and shoulders above the rest of the field, Go Smarty!
We saw blues legend John Mayall last night in a small club in Denver. He's 70 years old,and still playin the harmonica and is light on his feet while playin the key boards!! I was thinking would Gregg, Butch, and Jamoe, still be touring at that age. Willie does it, anyway the music was great and we enjoyed the show. Hey Jack I looked for you in the audience.
LOL congrats on your winnings Linnie...the Filly looked very impresive today! I'm hopin for the triple!
SMARTY JONES SMART SMARTY JONES!!!
LOVE THAT PHILY FILLY! PREAKNESS AND THE DERBY! HE COULD GO ALL THE WAY!!!! come on belmont!!!
(TOTAL WINNINGS OFF OF SMARTY JONES IN THE BRASWELL HOUSEHOLD: $375 BUCKS!!!)))
Oh boy, ARU in Boulder and Lana too. We can go to the Mountain Sun brewpub again like before the one RR show a few(?) years ago.
Hi PhillyBob. How ya' been?
Billy, I hope the Missus had a great birthday.
I can't open my PMs right now, so I am sorry if I haven't replied to anyone. I don't know what the problem is. I've logged out and back in, still no help. I dunno.
Anyways, everybody have a good weekend.
I saw Bowie Thursday night at Hershey, PA I would highly recommend him this Tour. Playing the stuff he want's to play and he still has it lots of talking he had a great time.
Hey there sweet family,
Jack, that's what Oteil tells me - 2 dates at the Fox will happen as soon as they can get everyone's schedule to work around it.
I love Boulder. You will see me there. :flower2:
Take care and know that you are loved,
Lana
Bird/Tony good luck with this round and remember a good attitude helps healing and I know you have one. Good vibes man.
Lana, please tell me again-two possible ARU dates in Boulder? I finally started listening after they had disbanded, and would love to see them. Other then the ABB and the Warren?Dead shows, I have not been impressed the Colorado summer schedule yet-it was a lot better last year. What a shame with the dozens of good venues here.
Well I wanted to let all know I cannot wait to go to George Washington on July 4th weekend, It will be my first time seeing the ABB outside of the Beacon. I am pumped. I hope to see yall there if any one is going and could suggest a place to stay I would love to hear from you, .
Hi, again, friends.
I received my June 2004 “Bass Player” magazine this week, and there’s a very nice mention of Oteil’s playing in the “BP Recommends” CD reviews section. In reviewing “One Way Out: Live at the Beacon Theater”, Chris Jisi writes:
“Putting your own indelible signature on a famous bass chair is no small feat, yet that is precisely what Oteil Burbridge has accomplished in his seven years with the Allmans. On this worthy live double-CD, from the band’s 2003 annual spring trek to New York, Oteil (on his Fodera 6 and ‘64 Fender Jazz) interprets the guitar-sparring lead bass of original Allman Berry Oakley on ‘70s standards like 'Don’t Keep Me Wondering' and the less-covered 'Wasted Words'. On newer tunes, like 'Rockin’ Horse', with its 16th-note finger-funk pulse, you can feel Oteil holding back the reins as the rest of the rhythm section threatens to run away from the pocket. Most notable is when Oteil gets to apply his considerable jazz-rooted improvising skills, as on the swinging 'Instrumental Illness' and the trippy 6/8 classic, 'Whipping Post'."
Cool. “You can feel Oteil...”
I have the Phil and Friends 11/30/03 show on while I'm grading some tests. I just noticed Warren quoting the IMOER melody during his slide solo in Low Spark. Cool! I love playing "Guess the musical quotation" when Warren and Derek solo. :guitarist:
Good morning from the Left Coast. I posted a request to the GB and tape trader forum a few weeks ago about getting started trading, which I knew nothing about. Among the replies was a message from Jumbo1953 saying he had a bundle of cds all ready to get a newbie started. Went out to the mailbox after work this week and there it was! A true brother - Thanks Jumbo!
