Speaking of Sonny Landreth, I see him and the Iguana's are playing at N.C. Museum of Art in Raleigh today/tonight. If you're down in that neck of the woods you might want to check 'em out.

EasyMichael, Thanks for the kind words, you're welcome guest anytime, and thanks for suggesting the Los Lobos show. It had been quite a while since I've seen the band (or actually listen to them, for that matter), so I got to listen to the band with fresh ears, and as you said, they were "ON". Killer set, energy level never lagged for a minute, I definely was impressed with the band, and once Beth heads off for work this afternoon, I'll definely be doing some serious listening to CD and the shows you gave me, and once again thanks. PS: Did you make it to the Radiators show last night, and also what did the guitar player in your band think of Sonny Landreth?

Great news about the 2/11/72 show as the next archival release. It was one of the first 2 or 3 shows I traded for-hot playing, but sketchy quality. Anyway, a nice sounding version of this one will be a worthwhile investment. Looking forward to seeing ya'll first night at the Fox

Well, getting more and more certain for a Jam for Duane trip this year - just made reservations at the Gadsden Hampton Inn...next internet stop should probably be Southwest Airlines! Wow! Week on a lake in Virginia with the family in late August, Pittsburgh ABB in early September, Fox Theater later that month, Nissan, Raleigh and Charlotte heading into October, than the JFD...plus probably a Derek Trucks show or two thrown into the mix somewhere...gonna be an interesting late Summer and Fall this year!

Tyler, I'm sure there will be some reviews here after the show, keep looking. I sympathize with you. I can relate, I have not seen a show in two and a half years because of my medical situation also. I am blessed in that the Bro's are coming to Montana this year and in spite of the meds, I will be there for some spiritual revitilizing. Can you try to at least make it for part of the show? And if you can't I PROMISE someone here will hook you up with CD's of the show. This is a kind bunch. Speaking of that: THANK YOU Billy E, for the Lee Roy shows THANK YOU SIR! My story on that is that a guy I work with is a bass player and he mentioned having heard Lee Roy and liked him, so I lent him those CD's. He was rehearsing with his band, and they decided to put Lee Roy on the PA, well the end result is the rest of the band wants copies! Ya hear that Carol? And Carol (the two Lee Roy sweethearts).... And THANK YOU THANK YOU to CanPeach for the Los Lobos YOWZA! I played it this morning on the way to work and the Bertha jam with Dickey Betts, wow. When the broke it down and you could tell the guitars were about to get serious, that melodic Dickey fat tone starts coming through, and it was tentative at first, everybody finding their way, but when Dickey let loose with some signature DB licks and BIG FAT guitar sound, well I had a big smile on my face, and I pictured Los Lobos all having big smiles on their faces. I still do love that Dickey Betts for sure, and it is amazing how one can hear that loud sweet les Paul that only sounds like him, and in a note or two KNOW it is DB on the guitar, so distinctive is his tone....... he still is the man. And jeez, did I miss something here? Is there some ABB shows coming up that has people excited or what? YOWZA. I'll be there in spirit....

Happy belated birthday to Great Scott! :fanfare: I hope that everyone got what they hoped for regarding Fox tickets. It kind of reminded me of another time of year when I read the posts from the past 24 hours. Enjoy! Cleandeuphippy and I saw and heard Los Lobos at 9:30 Club in DC last night. It was one of the finest shows that I have ever experienced! Wow! I've seen LL about four or five times before, but they were ON last night! They played something from each of their own releases (including the "...And a Time to Dance" EP from long ago). The second encore (after playing a two-song first encore) was "My Generation". Rocking! Thanks to Fred and Beth for their gracious hospitality. I'm trying to regain my strength to go out to hear the Radiators here in town tonight. They seem like a band that I'd most likely say something like, "What took me so long???" after I finally heard them, but I'm not bouncing back from last night very well... What a wimp! 🙂 :burnout:

Good to see Billy, Donna Betts, Kim Payne, Tom S., Ranelli, and others at what was the best I have seen/heard Dickey play in 10 years. I know some shows have been less than expected by some, but this was stellar. The band was smoking!! The Jessica encore brought the house down. Great music, great crowd, great venue. The Jam for Duane just keeps getting better by the day. Thanks to GABBA for the post...it is in the spirit of brotherhood and to honor Duane that this is happening. There is'nt any BS or $$ in the way. Pure-music-fans. Many very special guests, lots of music, old and new fans, and the real enlightened rouges. I hope to see many of you there. Anyone needing info on directions or whatever can email me @ skyponydogboy@yahoo.com or pm me here. Jammin' for Duane, Brent spdb

Just now finding out about the Fox Atlanta shows!!! I love that place and have hoped to see the ABB back there for some time. Kudos on that decision. On another note, here's a link to some photos of Taj Mahal's fishin' tournament that Derek and Jimmy were in a few months back. Jimmy took the trophy. http://www.musicmaker.org/fishinblues.html

Thanks to Lana, Rowland, and the ABB for the pre sale! It went very smoothly and I got 4 in the first row of the balcony for Friday, 4 on the floor, dead center, row JJ for Saturday, and 2 in the balcony row EE for Sunday. It is going to be a damn good time, in the words of Tom Petty "...the waiting is the hardest part." Ryan

I just picked up the Radiators vs Earth dvd. It is awesome. There is a great segment with Greg Allman backstage and then doing Midnight Rider with the band and a horn section. You can tell Dave Malone is fired up to play with Greg. After Midnight Rider Dave Malone claims, "Hey you sound just like Greg Allman." Great stuff. The crowd is rocking, they are loving it. Lots of back stage stuff with Karl Denson that's pretty funny too. Ed Volker tells him about the one song Shake it Loose and he says, "its kind of like a '70s thing." Then Dave Malone says, "yeah and we have an outfit you have to wear for it too." They love busting balls. Great stuff on there though, go pick it up.

Come on....somebody PM me and say that they saw the Irish tour '74 DVD and remembered Rory Gallager's death this week nine years ago. Frankie from DB&GS would fit right in with Rod's drumming. I'll always mark Rory's passing on this page. He should be remembered by us GB'rs for his beautiful slide work and the gentle soul that he was. Some of us pass over the bar way before our time...
