What a night! What a weekend! Two rip roaring performances by our boys that set the stage on fire! A review in the Sunday Denver Post reads: A joyous jamfest packs Red Rocks - The old and the new has fans grooving! Tha place was packed and everyone was standing and whooping it up all night! Weather was beautiful - we even had two rainbows on Friday. It was a great pairing of bands and there were very special guest moments that make these nights a must have for tape traders! Nice to meet some guestbook folks at the hotel after the show! Gotta go catch a plane - more later... JNB

Oh...and one more thing.... Just curious - Tour Dates section here says tickets for the ABB at Nissan go onsale tomorrow at 10A...but Ticketmaster, the Nissan web site, and the Little Feat web site all still have the event onsale info as "TBD" or have no info, or something to that effect....hmm....well, we'll be ready at any rate...

Thanks for all the Red Rocks reviews! Got the expected e-mail from TM yesterday - my "non-presale" ticket for Sunday at the Fox has been printed - row B orchestra! Plus got the tickets from GDTSTOO for the Dead at Montage and the Nissan - I wish the ABB could come up with some sort of ticketing service like that.... ...and "only" 5 more packages to go through for an open b&p for the ABB 7.4.99 show - that means 31 done! (good thing my wife was away this weekend...) Any non-Forum people interested in this show (Derek and Dickey and special guests), just drop me a line....

Who is SCI? Who were the Four Guitars, two bass guitars, two drums, keyboards and about 6 singers? If the answers are obvious, please forgive me. I'm 52, and losing it!

I'm so sorry not to be at Red Rocks this year -- of all years -- but I did get my share of chillbumps tonight. Susan Tedeschi was KILLER on Austin City Limits, and there was a terrific interview after their set. When Ron Perry (bass) told Jeff Sipe (drums) that he was the best drummer in the business, I couldn't help but agree. All the band seemed to contribute and respect each other -- it's a shame Jason is no longer with Susan, but William Green may be one of my favorite all-time B-3 players. Susan said she began singing Don't Think Twice because it always made her cry. Well, it does me too, when she sings it! Susan ROCKS!

WHITE HOT set at RED ROCKS. The ABB took it to another level tonight. In no particular order, SCI closed so they did a couple of songs then Derek, Oteil, and Marc came out and did a 15 minute Coltrane tune (sorry no name). And then Warren comes out. Four Guitars, two bass guitars, two drums, keyboards and about 6 singers. That was special. Warren played both lead and lead slide on Dreams (1 of 2 repeats). When Greg left the band went into this extended intro for Statesboro Blues. Very nice and very different. The Hoochie Coochie man dual intro was without slides. Also nice. The band is so tight and fluid that anything can happen. Much harder to predict the set list. Walk on Guilded Splinters with CR was real good. And Tom Doucette joining for Good Morning Little School Girl (hey John Unkles, you would have liked this one). This two shows back to back is the way to go. Chris Robinson & New Earth Mud were again very good. This band could headline. Greg just gets better every time I see the band. Great B3 work. He wore a baseball cap for a while. Oteil did an awesome bass solo during the Coltrane song with a little skat. He was very solid as always. Still the best Drum / Percussion section in all of rock. They did a solo during Liz Reed that was stunning. They had everyones attention. Both bands had up to 9 people at one point tonight. Smilin' Jack and I lucked out, Jack got a call from a friend and we moved up from row 22 to row 6 near center. What a difference. Lot of family on the road. Saw Greg's wife, Charlie Trucks, a very pregnant Susan T. and a lot of children. Red Rocks has all the magic they say, I can cross this one off of my list of things to do.

I'm so glad to hear the wonderful reports from the Red Rocks. Sound like the Brothers are really tearing it up. I'll be catching them next saturday in Appleton Wisconsin. I hope they bring some of that Red Rocks Voodoo with them. The Red Rocks has to be the greatest place on earth to perform. Go get em' Bros.

Gregg went to get Biscuits to put that Blues jam on. But he ran into Old Coot & Stormy & they got to talkin about the shoe box and got carried away. Meanwhile the Blues Jam is some Hour & Half long now. Derek's fingers are tired and Warren's are Bleeding. It may just be the Drummers & Oteil in KC Monday night.
