it is hard to say based on one album what LLB will be doing in 10-30 years..and really, when you compare anyone to the ABB or Dickey or the Dead, ect. you are comparing them to a greatness and longevity that few achieve..I saw LLB open for Robert Randolph and kind of agree with all of your opinions..yes they are good..yes they sound a little like SRV/Santanna..but at the end i was smiling and having a good time and where i come from that is the point of music..IMHO
What a show in Appleton, WI last night. I am just in awe of what this band can do, and did last night. Having been fortunate enough to have seen these guys nearly 20 times, last night ranks right up at the top. From the opening chord on OWO to the scintillating slide on Key to the Highway, and thru the final slide chirps on Layla, the boys were on fire. I dont remember ever seeing Greg have so much fun. He was smiliing, and laughing, and just really getting into the crowd. And the vibe from the crowd was awesome- and I dont use that word often. Thank you guys very much, and I truly hope the road does go on forever. Theres nothing that compares musically to the rush I get listening to Derek and Warren play back and forth the way they do. Warren said "This is our last show for awhile, so I hope you dont mind if we get a little crazy". And they did!
Lana, it was great to see you again. I cant wait until late August!
Skypony, that's my point -the young people were enjoying LLB. Thirty years from now those of us who got turned on to the ABB 35 years ago won't be going to too many shows or following on the web. And yes, they show their influences as all young bands do. But when you can play like they do, sing and harmonize like they do and, given the demographic trends in the USA, sing in Spanish like they do, IMHO they are going somewhere.
JNB - nice post. Henry Garza can flat PLAY that Stratocaster, can't he?
I went to see Brother Dickey and GS
tear up the Lake Martin ampitheater
recently where the Los Lonely Boys opened. As a band, they are good, musically, I was not overly impressed. Sounded like a SRV/Carlos Santana clone mix. Lots of stage antics which, IMHO detracted away from the music. The young people seemed to enjoy more than the folks there to see Dickey. Nevertheless, they were entertaining. As far as being here 30 years from now, don't think so. 5'll get
ya 10! They really are not unique or breaking any new ground. I beleiev they have talent and play there instruments well. They ain't sold me a record yet....but I did enjoy listening. I wish them the best.

The YSB burned to the house down at Jakes last night! Lots of guest players sat in - just a wonderful, wonderful time!

Bill Ector wrote a nice piece on the Los Lonely Boys in the latest issue of HTN...they are indeed the real deal.
I had the pleasure of being in a press conference at Bonnaroo with Henry, the lead quitarist. He was asked a serious political questions about issues that were important to him in this election and he filled the room with laughter with his response - which was basically that they liked the freedom to sit and around and watch TV or play music and get high!
He was so down to earth and not jaded like a rock star at all...was very refreshing.
Can't wait to see them open!

Yes Marley of course no one can predict what's going to happen, I was just trying to express that Los Lonely Boys have made a great record with a lot of the elements that people find binds them to the ABB. I am enjoying the present, that's why I made the post. I bought the record to learn their hit (my band is covering it) and was blown away by the whole record. They are a worthy opening act for the ABB.
RE; Marshall Tucker Band, I've been thinking about them a lot lately, spending a lot of time listening to the second album. With the spate of tribute projects going around country music, (i.e. the Louvin Brothers project Carl Jackson did last year) the MTB sounds like a natural for someone like Lee Roy Parnell to put together. A few old timers who knew Toy and the boys like Hank Jr. and Charlie Daniels, some of the middle period guys influenced by them like Travis Tritt and Lee Roy, and then a few of the new guys too. I can hear Vince Gill doing "Too Stubborn". Anyone with any juice out there
Listnening to Sarah Vaughn this morning....looking into Mara's eyes, drinking coffee and just enjoying this Sunday morning.
I hope you all have a beautiful morning.

Good old sunday morning .....
....I'm already there....
Randy, thank you so much for your kind wishes!
What do we have to do to get this band to do a new year's eve run, good lord.

I've heard mostly good things about Los Lonely Boys, but don't go making predictions about what'll happen in 30 years... nobody would have guessed this would happen for the Allmans. What's lasted is a community that will exist regardless of the music- you can't predict something like that. Either it'll happen or it won't, and enjoy the present regardless.
I have to agree with the former posts about the los lonely boys. Dont let the name fool you. The Guitar player is fantastic. Kind of like a Stevie Ray/ Santana mix with a little Dickey Betts thrown in. They are a hot band right now. Saw them in the pouring rain in June at the Appel Farm festival in NJ. That song'' Heaven'' has Dickeys signature tone all over it. By the time they closed their set everyone young and old were dancing like crazy despite the downpour. If you dont have their cd, pick it up , it is a definite must have for Allman fans.
Best Wishes for a great life for Stephanie and John.
Another little neat aspect of the legacy of Duane Allman.

When I see the Brothers I definitely prefer that it be an evening the band without an opening act, but I think that having a band as sharp and hot as Los Lonely Boys opening is going to do great things for the Allman Brothers. Those of you lucky enough to catch this bill are in for a real treat! Mule/LLB double bill in the fall to promote Deja Voodoo? I'm up for it!
dear peachheads....30 years from now there's going to be a website like this for Los Lonely Boys. Check that record out - they are amazing, the kind of band that'll be carrying the spirit that brings us together around the Allman Brothers. They have potential to be one of the greatest rock'n'roll bands ever, with a sound of enormous commercial potential. They're going to be HUGE. It's a great record and they are the soulful real deal
MIDWESTERNER---- where did you here about the VH1 show? thanks!!!
great scott--i also am hoping for some more theater dates. would love to catch gregg allman& friends, as i have never seen them. my favorite song is QUEEN OF HEARTS.
