I live a town of 15000 people. My daughter is 21, and her fiancee is 23. They have about 25 friends that they talk to and have over on a regular basis. Out of those 25 people I would say 18 are devoted ABB fans. They have been to many ABB concerts and would not miss one if they came close. However some of them travel great distances to see ABB. It is amazing what musical power ABB have over people of all ages. I asked one recently what he thought of Bonaroo. He said that Warren and ABB blew everybody else off the stage. Just some FYI

Everybody going to the coming shows, have large fun. Prayers to Florida again. Watched The Passion Of The Christ last night, that is one incredibly powerful movie, pretty moving. Also hats off to Indian Larry.... A master mechanic, master metal fabricator, custom bike builder, daredevil, free spirit, and who seemed like one hell of a human being, a super nice guy, always smiling, who also talked about his sobriety and beating drugs and booze (ala Gregg). Larry died August 30 doing his famous standing on the seat stunt, no hands in front of a large crowd at a bike show. He was seen on the Discovery channel on a couple of bike build offs. A long hair free spirit, who I instantly liked and was intruiged with. Not like Jesse James, big razzle dazzle, or the hamming it up American Choppers family, this guy seemed so sincere and real, and you could tell he knew engines big time and didn't just buy a bunch of parts and slam them togethor. He was into the vintage chopper look, and I can relate being into vintage hot rods, new spacey is cool, but this guy did beautiful retro style. Discovery Network will replay his last build off against Billy Lane, watch for it or check their website. He believed in "Brotherhood" talked about it, and wouldn't accept winning the buildoff at Sturgis, he sawed the trophy in half, gave half to Billy, then they sawed it into pieces and gave them to the crowd. Show was on last night, you just couldn't help but love the guy. Saw him before on there on another show doing his stunt, eeegads what a wild man. Died doing what he loved I guess, a shame because the world lost an obvious genius. RIP. Here is his website: http://www.indianlarry.com He was in films and TV also, and an autobigraphy is coming out in a year or two..... RIP guy.

Headin out to A.C. as soon as the gang arrives. I second the post on hope that the set will be more than the standard casino crowd set. This too is my only show of the summer and the first since the Beacon run. Would much rather have seen them play Phila, where the crowd isnt watered down like in A.C. Saw both shows last summer { A,C. and Phila. } and the difference was night and day. The Phila. show smoked and the casino show was subpar, although the band had absolutely nothing to do with that. The casino security and the watered down crowd made for a lousy evening. Anyway, I will definitely take everything I can get. See ya there.

I’m finally getting a chance to go through the postcards that we collected before each show where we had fans guess the first song played by the ABB that night to win a Hittin’ the Note T-shirt. Having read the guestbook for years I know that we have many folks with really sharp wit. Add all the pre-show partying to the mix and you get some funny guesses: In Memory of Elizabeth Dole In Memory of Beth Reid In Memory of My Memory In Memory of Liz Red No Way Out (the movie?) Rain Sweet Caroline Back Where I Began Midnight Rambler Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man Black Bearded Woman Midnight Raiders Don’t Want You To Move Eat A Peach Hittin’ the Note Suite Judy Blue Eyes Waterloo High Price of Low Livin’ Statesboro Boo Boo Trouble Trouble LiLa (Layla?) Road House Blues Wasted Time I’d Like To Buy The World A Coke Fat Bottom Girls (Derek had done an interview where someone had asked him what all great blues players had in common - his reply was big butts!) Some good guesses that they haven’t played on this run were: Standback Firing Line True Gravity Maydell Les Bres in A Minor Sailin’ ‘Cross the Devil Sea Wasted Words All Night Train Hot’Lanta – I think they played this once We will be notifying the winners in the next few days. Sure was fun! JNB

Saw Karl Densons' Tiny Universe last night, and they tore it up. The end of the second set and the long encore was about the tightest I've ever seen a band play. The encore was more like a short 3rd set. Karl played Hit The Road Jack solo on flute to start off the encore. Elephants was mind blowing, what a jam they played on that. Their Hendrix cover of the night was Power of Soul. There were 3 tapers there so hopefully this will be out in circulation soon. I took some pix and hope to have them up on my photo page in a couple days.

Hey hope all will be safe in the SE and everyone enjoys their weekend. While your celebrating this weekend if ya could tilt your glass skyward and make a little toast to Bill Meharg. He passed a year ago Monday. He enjoyed a cold beverage and the company of good friends. I miss him but know he's doing OK.
