Thank you, Lana; that was so nice of you! I'm printing out a copy of the home page with that message for Melissa to keep. I'll give it to her tonight when I see her. And thank you, TanDan, and (belated) congrats to your daughter as well! You must know how I feel. It was past 1 AM Sat. when I posted the message--excited for her, just couldn't sleep, and had to share the news with this family. Folks here are SO kind and considerate!!!!!

Well gotta give a great review the the show last night. AWB 50 minutes MM about 1.25 hrs, H & O about 1.5 hours, then 30 minute jam with 22 musicans on stage.Called the Rock and Soul tour, but it really was a huge tribute to Motown and soul. every band did something from the past with a heavy R & B leaning. All bands were excellent, although I'm not and Hall and Oates fan and Darryl Oates seems pretty damned full of himself. But here is the best part. My wife is a huge Michael McDonald fan. the couple we went with are business partners with his cousin. My buddy hands Joyce and I back stage passes and wrangles a visit to the dressing room to meet him and get pictures, autographed poster etc. She is still in heaven. She was thrilled, for her this would be the equivalent of me getting to go to dinner with GA. Have a great weekend all!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Good Captain! You are the mysterious kind soul from my old desert state of the mid 70's to late 80's. We never crossed paths then or even to this day. My dream is to get my old Bird finished one day and cruise down to the southwest, and invite myself over for enchiladas, I'll even cook them...... Meeting an old friend I never met, hehe. Burn one for old times sake and watch that sunset as only exists in the big sky desert. Go look for rattlesnakes and jackrabbits.....

love clarinet......talking about Brother Ray, folks were handing out $10 bills with Brother Ray's smiling face on them at royal West Palm last night with this website...www.rayontheten.com...go there to sign petition if you would like to see Brother Ray's smiling face on a new ten dollar bill..Personaly, I think it should be on the million. Derek's show left South FLA feeling like a million bucks, thats for damn sure. I just love this young band..and so did the crowd. Plenty of DTB very original tunes, some BB Blues, plus an early and extremely sweet taste of what the good folks in Gadsen ,Alabama will be basking in next weekend with a nice tip of the hat to Brother Duane Allman. Going Down Slow. Looking up, not ten seats away, was our Debbie, dancing and smiling through her tears of heartbreak and joy.....LOVE you Deb, the pleasure was all mine and Kevin's. Sorry to be a bit late in wishing EVERYONE who blessed october 15 when they opened their eyes and smiled for the first time. Hope all of you had a very BIG Happy Birthday. We celebrated with confetti cake in your honor yesterday. Have a great weekend ya'll...Think Ill put on my John Lee Hooker shoes and do it all over again with the DTB , down at the HOB......eapfp, Ca

Anyone looking for a laugh needs to check out philzone.com, click on "discussion", then "rumours". Scroll down and read some of the posts under "Warren out of Allmans" - very insightful reading (lol)! I stumbled across this after a friend called me asking if I had heard anything about Warren leaving. I obviously replied " it's not happening." When he told me he heard it from one of his deadhead buddies, I told him that this guy was probably just reading rumours on philzone. Sure enough, I checked it out later and some of the comments my friend made were right there, verbatim, on this discussion board. I couldn't help but laugh. Hopefully, it will cause some chuckles among any of you who decide to read it.

Nlitndrog, you and Melissa have a great time tonight...Spivey Hall is a great place to hear music. My daughter played clarinet in her school band there in the spring. I know a girl that recieved a scholarship as a result of her singing; some at Spivey hall. On another note...how hard can it be to sneak up on Ray Charles? OK.....OK.....I'm sorry!:bash: <---me

nitelite, you are exactly right!!! This is the BEST documentary that I have recently seen!! For inspiration, I gave it to a friend who is in the studio recording a new cd. One of my favorite parts (besides the ABB and Layla mixing) is the interview with Ray Charles and Tom walks onto the set and surprises Ray. Tom was truly an inspiration for all musicians as well as an inspiration for love.

If there is anyone out there who has not yet seen "Tom Dowd and the Language of Music", make it an URGENT priority and rent or buy it! i saw it tonight at a film festival in my town and met the director. Dowd goes on at length about the magic of the Brothers and mixes a master of Layla. Butch, Jaimoe, Dickey and EC prominent, along with the spirit of brother Duane. Run, don't walk, to see this movie!

This isn't a birthday or anything, so please excuse this--but you can't help but be tickled when you see a kid do well for themselves in ways you never imagined .... My 13-yr. old daughter, Melissa (yes, named after THAT song), will be living up to her name by "Hittin' the Note" tomorrow evening at Spivey Hall, http://www.spiveyhall.org/about.html, as part of an Honors Choir composed of top vocalists her age from thruout the metro Atlanta area who auditioned for the part. She's little but can sing her fanny off and then some, IMNSHO (she sure doesn't get it from me--her mom has the pipes).

Great news Jim - and din't you have a B'day just last week? Which reminds me - HAPPY BIRTHDAY Barb and Skip!! Midwesterner - we love those babies - great news! Music! Was just watching an mpeg version of the ABB Austin City Limits show...man that's a bittersweet show all these years later. At the end of Dickey's solo on Blue Sky - Dickey, Warren and Woody are all standing real close jamming away.... Hmm...nostalgia is one of those combo feel good/feel bad things isn't it? Well, anyway if anyone wants a copy of this just let me know...
