Here's a big (although early)HAPPY BIRTHDAY! wish for by freind PatrickCrenshaw! I don't know how old he really is, but rumor has it that he actually pre-dates dirt, water and most of the other elements! Happy birthday Patrick! Here's hoping you have many, many more Beacon's, Foxs's, Jams for Duane and Dogwood Festivals! RB

Happy Birthday.. Horace! The best to you on your day of birth… Celebrate and enjoy… Btw.. How old are today, Horace? Horace: Well, there we're in a gray area Stormy: How gray? Horace: Charcoal? RIP.. Tom Hopper… My friend.. my brother… 11/22/45-10/25/04 Long may you run… RIP brother Duane… Maybe your spirit can bring out some love here today In lieu of all this political spew “Comes a time when the blind man takes your hand says: don't you see? got to make it somehow on the dreams you still believe Don't give it up you've got an empty cup only love can fill only love can fill Been walking all morning Went walking all night I can't see much difference between the dark and the light And I feel the wind And I taste the rain Never in my mind to cause so much pain Comes a time when the blind man takes your hand says: don't you see? got to make it somehow on the dreams you still believe Don't give it up you've got an empty cup only love can fill only love can fill From day to day just letting it ride you get so far away from how it feels inside You can't let go cause you're afraid to fall till the day may come when you can't feel at all Comes a time when the blind man takes your hand says: don't you see? got to make it somehow on the things you still believe Don't give it up you've got an empty cup only love can fill only love can fill When the words come out like an angry stream You hear yourself say things you could never mean When you cool down you find your mind You got a lot of words.. you've got to stand behind. Comes a time when the blind man takes your hand says: don't you see? got to make it somehow on the things you still believe Don't give it up you've got an empty cup only love can fill only love can fill” Hunter/Garcia

'Working out of the house today and began the day with Anthology I. Around these parts we call 'Goin Down Slow' the 'Silencer'...on many occasions, once the songs starts, the room (full of people) slowly becomes silent as everyone feels compelled to listen to the master at work. By the end of the song it's almost like we all just 'witnessed' something amazing. Of course, we did - it's Duane Allman. 'nuff said. R.I.P. brother.

Was listening to 3-20-71 thanks to a kind brother on the way in to work today (as well as 12-31-70 last night-thanks, Nick) and I am embarrassed to say I didn't realize the significance of today until I came to the GB. Funny how I was actually compelled to listen to this genius without being aware of this anniversary. God Bless Duane Allman.

Please excuse the interruption on the politics/election discusssion. I know its important, but it would be nice...and most fitting, I think...if we could all take a break from debating issues and join together in one accord and simply reflect on the day...October 29th...and remember Duane.

Rick--one more thing before I drift off. I HAVE met John McCain and his wife Cindy and I can tell you that you we talked about many things; but not any hatred of John Kerry. I think McCain was Kerry's first choice for Vice-President...Perhaps I will ask him your question one day.
