You know Rick, it's obvious you crave attention-just like a two year old. You also have a very bad habit of speaking for others in your condescending, critical, know it all, inside-information style. Let me tell you something-DON'T YOU DARE attempt to speak for me or anybody else here in this Guest Book or anywhere else. Your opinions are your own, and according to the Constitution (the one that our veterans have died defending-you might want to read it sometime. It's obvious that with your Fascist beliefs that you are unfamiliar with one of the greatest documents ever composed by the Human Race-it was designed to PRESERVE certain freedoms and human rights-not restrict those same rights and freedoms, or DIVIDE this country based on class the way you and many others who share your elitist views would like it to) you certainly have the right to express those beliefs, but it is the HEIGHT of arrogance for you to be the mouthpiece for everyone who disagrees with you. Unlike most people who are capable of sharing opposing viewpoints through rational discourse (to use Socrates words for FREE SPEECH) you simply cannot accept anyone's views that do not coincide with your own narrowminded beliefs. My father fought in the South Pacific during WWII with the US Marines and handed out brochures for Donald Rumsfeld who he went to high school with and who served as the Congressional Representative for our district. And my Dad would NEVER have wanted to see me or any other young man or woman die for the LIES that McNamara and Westmoreland rammed down this country's throat. Gee, 30 years and 50,000 men later Robert McNamara says he's "sorry." Did he have the guts to stand up for what he believed when he was sending young men to their deaths and falsifying information to support it? Hell no. At least Lyndon Johnson had the balls AND the conscience to refuse the Democratic nomination in '68 when he realized the error of his ways. Unlike most politicians, he actually took responsibilty for his actions. There is NO WAY IN HELL my father would support sending my nephew or any other young person to fight this rich man's War for Oil. Intelligent people can distinguish when they are ordered to die for a legitimate cause or die to protect the financial interests of the very few-like maybe that 1% of the population that you are a part of--I assume that you are in that greater than $200K income bracket (after all, since you tell us ad nauseum how important your medical work is you MUST be a doctor, right? Because you know everything about medicine there is to know too-just ask you) since you blindly follow whatever swill this administration dispenses, instead of exercising a healthy skepticism. One of the greatest sayings of all time is "Question Authority. Always." Not "Believe everthing you are told." There is a difference between fighting a war for OUR freedoms and fighting for someone else's vested interests. And by the way the way, it's in one BREATH, not BREADTH, as in width. But I'm sure you knew that knew that too, right? Just like you know EVERYTHING about EVERY subject. Even if we don't ask, you'll tell us anyway. Sorry, folks. Had to get that off my chest.

Happy Birthday Lana. Hope Lanaroo brings as much joy to the lives of those gathering there as the Jam did. I listen to Slow Train Coming every year while I'm wrapping Christmas packages. That and watching the original Miracle on 34th Street are my Christmas traditions now. Butch opened a Pandora's box, and it will never be the same here. Hate and venom flowing freely from all sides now. Looks like we're the same as everybody else. It was magical for a while...too good to last, I guess. EAPFP

Happy Birthday Lana! Thanks for all you do! I saw Bird mentioned the Dylan album "Slow Train Coming". Being the Dylan freak that I am, I believe I wore that one out when I had it on vinyl. Easily in Dylan's top 10 best and it actually won a grammy or two. Mark Knopfler's guitar work is really sweet and is a nice touch. Obviously Dylan is a master of words and his songs always sounds relevant to what going on in the world. The title song is about as powerful as it gets...Read on. "Slow Train" - Bob Dylan Sometimes I feel so low-down and disgusted Can't help but wonder what's happenin' to my companions, Are they lost or are they found, have they counted the cost it'll take to bring down All their earthly principles they're gonna have to abandon? There's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend. I had a woman down in Alabama, She was a backwoods girl, but she sure was realistic, She said, "Boy, without a doubt, have to quit your mess and straighten out, You could die down here, be just another accident statistic." There's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend. All that foreign oil controlling American soil, Look around you, it's just bound to make you embarrassed. Sheiks walkin' around like kings, wearing fancy jewels and nose rings, Deciding America's future from Amsterdam and to Paris And there's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend. Man's ego is inflated, his laws are outdated, they don't apply no more, You can't rely no more to be standin' around waitin' In the home of the brave, Jefferson turnin' over in his grave, Fools glorifying themselves, trying to manipulate Satan And there's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend. Big-time negotiators, false healers and woman haters, Masters of the bluff and masters of the proposition But the enemy I see wears a cloak of decency, All non-believers and men stealers talkin' in the name of religion And there's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend. People starving and thirsting, grain elevators are bursting Oh, you know it costs more to store the food than it do to give it. They say lose your inhibitions, follow your own ambitions, They talk about a life of brotherly love, show me someone who knows how to live it. There's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend. Well, my baby went to Illinois with some bad-talkin' boy she could destroy A real suicide case, but there was nothin' I could do to stop it, I don't care about economy, I don't care about astronomy But it sure do bother me to see my loved ones turning into puppets, There's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend.

Happy Birthday to Lana! Thanks for this great site. Oteil will be hitting Chicago tonight at the House of Blues! Our very own Lefty Collins will be opening with an acoustic set. I caught Lefty's acoustic set last night and he plays for the love of the music. One of the highlights was an acoustic version of Whipping Post! His sidekick JP can also play a mean guitar. So, if you can, catch Lefty at 10pm and I recommend buying his cd "Derived From Two Classes," excellent original blues. Also, Looking forward to a great night of music with Oteil and the Peacemakers!!
