The spirit of Duane is alive and well with the Lefty Collins and No Mercy Band. I checked out Lefty's band Friday night and again they smoked. Played alot of blues originals and played some tasty ABB that included Mountain Jam, Liz Reed, Midnight Rider, Whipping Post, Gregg's I'm No Angel and many others. Great night to spend with friends and hearing great music. Good to see Sang and his brother. Please contact Lefty to purchase his cd, it is well worth it. Happy Sunday to all.
Chilly day here in LA. Thinking of the music that has become my soundtrack for life. May friendships have that I cheerish have started.
Linne that voting link didn't work. Any suggestions?
Peace and love to all--- Scotty

Derek ran Avalon last night. Tremendous performance from phenomenal performers. Mattison has great voice and Susan joined for Gonna Move. That tune rips with Susan and Derek.
Great sound and diverse, packed house, but not too tight. Whole show was spot on - Derek is beyond, beyond. His playing over the last five years has been astonishing. His lead playing is Claptonesque, circa Dominoes. Slide is sick. He owned every song. Lot of folks seeing Derek for first time last night were rocked. Once he started a solo, people were frozen with smiles. One of those nights. Always nice to have Fenway as backdrop to a fine evening of sweet tunes and good times.
good morning everyone!

I want to share an article in the Birmingham News this morning relative to artists "today" and lip syncing.
As I was reading the article, I could not help but laugh, because I think ABB fans....and the Band... represent the antithesis of faux, in general, and musically speaking (no pun).
I was going to comment about the production side of concerts and how that would get in the way of music, but I am reminded of early ELO and Pink Floyd concerts when production efforts reached new highs for live rock concerts, so it would not be fair I suppose to bash Britney Spears for her crap, because our generation stated it all.
But then again, I am just so opposed to sound tracks, or dubbing, or anything beyond what I would call "minor" electronic affects, i.e. sound pedals, triggers, and so forth at live gigs. If you can play and sing when the power goes off or the computer craps out, then I would say the gig met the mark.
Personally, I love the fact Greggs' vocals have changed over the years; it had gotten better in some aspects and aged appropriately for a blues singer in others.
And look what you lose in dubbed vocal tracks....spontaneous effects of feel and so forth. Again, I use the GA Tour as a good example. Gregg's howls and his gutteral moans could not be manufactured; it came from his heart. That is so cool, and so absent in artists today.
There was a comment in the article that mentioned Spears website had about 3,000 kids sign a petition to ask her not to sync it in her 2004 Tour. Funny as hell if you ask me. Fake boobs, fake music, fake everthing except the very real money she has made being fake. From strictly a music appreciation perspective, I simply cannot understand where kids heads are today to even accept that crap. In our day, we would have booed someone like spears off the stage.
If there were a "no lip sync here" button to display, I would proudly wear one! Go ABB! Play it cool, or play it rough, but play it without sync!
Rock on....

BROTHER DUANE
Hello all, I havent been here in quite a while. Ive been locked up in labor negotiations....trying to hold onto my brothers & sisters healthcare benefits...hope all is well with you all!
Grey Sunday morning, freeze on the ground
Breath in the air no early sounds except
Church bells ringing in the old town
Roll my collar up and walk around
A beer bottle on the grassy strip,
In front of a closed art store
Remnant of a gypsy party last night
That’s what Sunday mornings are for
Sunday morning, Praise the Lord
Spend an hour inside His door
Then biscuits and gravy across the way
Another lazy town Sunday
Happy B-day to Brother Duane!
Thanks for the memories and
the music. Your spirit will always
live on and fly high!
Peace to All
