(carol).....I always thought Dickey bringing Dan back was a step backwards....Kevin and I went to the first 3 shows with Dan.. That was enough for me....For what ever reason, all of a sudden it was all about Danny...Dickey seemed lost in the mix....
Its no secret Dickey is my favorite guitarist/songwriter in the world..my personal favorite singer too ...Say what you want about DB, I saw how good he treatd Danny..what a shame to be rewarded with a kick in the ass.......IMHO...Hey Dickey..I know the feeling....
Sister are you for real?
Wow! Just got home from New Orleans a little while ago -- first thing I did was take the kids their souvenirs. Unfortunately, their mom already confiscated the voodoo doll toys!
It was an amazing whirlwind adventure for my first trip to the Big Easy and an astounding show -- I'll write up a review and post it later tonight.
Happy belated birthday, Goliath! Away from a computer for a couple of days and missed my chance to send good wishes your way ...
Neil...like The American Music Show in 74.
I would love to see Dickey put together a band like his High Way Call album and take that Revival show on the road. That would interest me alot musically.
I vote for Duane Betts to fill the slot.
I will also endorse Brent to get the slot in DBGS.
Great picker from a great guy as well!
plus, I could get Backstage Passes and soundboard feeds, and video 😉
hehehehe
go Brent Go
can't wait to jam again in Oct
So EZM...do we count you as a yay for August? You are not allowed to answer no. 😀
Oh, sure, now you're practicing and learning the same tunes and all!
Yes he does, Eddie. You'll have to teach me High Cost...perhaps you two can make a trip b4 the jam and we can learn a few.
I'm counting on being there Lammie.
...Barry and I were working on some things a couple of weeks ago. He's got those Fillmore licks down pat...
Hey, I'm happy when brother Eddie and Barry Z. let me share the stage with them. They make this ol' 3 chorder that I am look good! Looking forward to seeing both of you cats in August. Eddie you're on this year right? Gonna be a good one. 🙂
Brent S. Not sure how you go about it but I think you should make your move.
johnf where are you brother check in!!!!
For Lefty and others.....Go to the Rockline home page(http://www.rocklineradio.com/). In the upper right corner you will see KSAN.com Click on this and it takes you to 'The Bone' 107.7 in San Francisco. Follow the instructions and you can listen for free to Rockline tonight on your PC. Just remember they are Pacific time.
I'm listening to 107.7 now and since I have dial-up, an occassional dropout occurs for a few seconds. I used this method to listen to an ABB rockline a year or so ago, it works!!!
Good luck!
ah brother gerald, well said...sounds like a GOOD ABB show, w/o that opening cover band and w/DT in the house...("walk on" da cell phone!)
will always cherish that weekend miss enigmajean and i had the pleasure of spending with you (miss cee cee was representing, signifying, and generally testifyin' as well!) at the nawlins HOB for the dTb...
i think nawlins is one of those portal cities...if you knows what i mean...
all the best brother...
This has certainly being donated for a wonderful cause. Jimmy has already had his surgery.
FAMED SCULPTOR DONATES CARLOS SANTANA LIMITED EDITION BRONZE TO BENEFIT GUITARIST IN NEED
Jimmy Nalls is one of the most influential guitarists of our era. An inspiration to hundreds of guitar players, he has recorded and/or toured with Gregg Allman, T. Graham Brown, B.J. Thomas, The Nighthawks, D.C. Dog and many other bands.
In addition to being a world class guitar player, Jimmy has been battling Parkinson's Disease for over 10 years. He is strong, courageous and still counts his blessings. In two weeks Jimmy faces spinal surgery.
In order to assist Jimmy with his mounting medical bills, world-renowned American sculptor, Paul Wegner, has donated a truly unique work of art that was commissioned by legendary guitarist Carlos Santana in 1997. The bronze sculpture of Santana, titled Viva Santana, is 24" and valued at $8,000. We are asking for your participation in this auction to help Jimmy's recovery fund and have the chance to win this collector's piece.
Go here to view this limited edition bronze sculpture that captures the spirits and dreams of one of music's most recognized guitar players.

we don't get rockline in chicago...:(
Gerald, nice review!!!
Dickey is doing that Rockline thing tonight. If anyone is planning to call, a great question would be about auditioning for the guitar slot. A plug for SPDB and a request for Lefty's trio to open on the tour.
...Lammie, Brent and I are starting our own Blues G3 tour....

Driving into the Big Easy is something I always Look forward to, even if it means being slowed down by a bus broke down on the very top of the bridge around Chef Menteur Hwy., such is Life at times, Rolled on in around 4pm on Tuesday, Got ’s checked into the Double Tree Hotel at the Foot of Canal st., and headed back out to the French Quarter for some chow, Then walked the River front, till show time.
The Saenger Theater in New Orleans is a Beautiful venue, much Like the one in Mobile, and also reminds me of the Beacon Theater in NYC., After getting a Beverage of choice, we headed down to our seats, where soon I saw Ron Currens aka HopHead, spoke to him and asked if Patrick Crenshaw was around, as soon as I said that, Looked up and there was Patrick standing by us, Great seeing you both Again, Also met Yankweed1 and his Wife, Pleasure spending sometime with you Both, and Leigh from Virginia.
Onto the show, From the opening notes of Mountain Jam, to the ending notes of Whipping Post, The Band was Hitting the Note, Highlights for me were Walk on Guilded Splinters, The more I hear this tune Played by the Brothers, the more I like it, very Driving song. Worried down with the Blues, Jessica, and Franklin’s Tower were all Great.
Second set opened with a Nice Revival, Then Joe Martin came out and Blew Harp on a nice Long Jam, That had Oteil Smiling a lot, he seems to really enjoy having guest come on stage to play, Warren and Joe did a lot of playing off of one another, Really sounded Great. Who to Believe and Who’s been Talkin were both very Good, Then the stand alone Drum solo (aka ensemble) was Very Good and Driving……………Dreams with Derek Taking the Lead work was one of the kind of versions of this tune that takes me to that Place where I love to go, was truly Amazing ~~!!!The Same Thing was Great with Ivan Neville sitting in on keys, I have always Loved the Tune and it was Played just Right, Mountian Jam Reprise was Smooth with spacey lead work, just as the opener…….Enc. Whipping Post, nailed it, Warren was on it .
Band sounded Great, Gregg was on , sounded strong………once Again a Great show in Nawlin’s.
Sending Good Vibes to Those in Need,
Keep it Kind,
