Yeah, it sounds like quite a show in Erie last night! I hope our front-row friends enjoyed themselves! I agree about the N. O. show, Eddie. Where is it? (Perhaps that's a little harsh for a public grovel, huh?) United States astronauts landed on the moon on this day in 1969. Our family got our first color TV for the event. Finally, I've got a new roof being put on my house today. Ahh, a nice quiet day at home... :hammer: :hammer: :hammer: :hammer: :hammer: :hammer: :hammer:

Hey, Good Morning indeed Southpaw! Thanks for the review JNB...sounds like a complete smoker! Enjoy the Cincy show folks..I feel a good one coming on...again. Has anyone found a copy of the Saenger Theatre show in New Orleans from earlier this year yet? This one has yet to surface on the trading board and I can't remember the last time a show took this long to circulate...very strange. I assume at least one taper was there...If someone has found it, please send me a PM when you get a chance...thanks guys!

[Here is article for those that do not want to register, but you will not see the photos-Eliot] Back to: http://www.goerie.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050720/NEWS02/507200368/-1/NEWS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Article published Jul 20, 2005 Allmans' show had memorable moments for everyone Greg Allman sings and plays the keyboard. He also played acoustic guitar during the band’s performance. (Jimmie Presley / Erie Times-News) Zoom Buy this Photo You could debate it all night. Exactly when did the Allman Brothers Band concert at the Warner Theatre on Tuesday transcend the realm of merely good and nearly reach nirvana? Was it during a physical, Cream-like rendition of the old-blues "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl," which featured guitarist Warren Haynes on vocals and Derek Trucks jamming way up the neck, hitting and sustaining impossible high notes? Maybe it was when keyboard player Greg Allman stepped out with an acoustic guitar to open the second set with an eloquent "Melissa?" Could have been the surprise of seeing Susan Tedeschi -- the wife of Derek Trucks -- bound on stage to sing a bluesy, moving version of Dylan's "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right." Then again, you can make a case for the thunderous, three-man percussion jam by Jaimoe, Butch Trucks, and Marc Quinones amidst "Leave My Blues At Home," which set up a blistering finale. Whatever moment you choose, the rowdy, sold-out crowd at the Warner Theatre greeted nearly every song with rapture. After all, it's not often a band the stature of the Allman Brothers Band visits Erie, let alone plays the more intimate Warner. Since their 1969 debut, the Allmans have personified Southern rock at its finest, perfecting a blissful fusion of blues, rock, funk and gospel that's made to order for jamming and, yet, song-oriented, as well. On Tuesday, extended jams were expected. This show was billed as "An Evening With," patterned after the Allmans' annual concerts at New York's Beacon Theatre. They promised three hours of music, but didn't quite get there. They did just a one-song encore, "One Way Out,"(which left scorch marks on stage), but few fans were complaining on the way out. "It was wonderful. Their stamina is fantastic," said Sandra Kennedy of Erie, a longtime Allmans fan. Added Jim, her husband: "I loved it. But they didn't play 'Whipping Post.'" Mark Zielienski -- attending with son Steve -- said they shined, compared with a show they saw in Pittsburgh's spacious Post-Gazette Pavilion just a few days earlier. "After seeing them in Pittsburgh the other day, I think they're tighter tonight and have a lot more energy," Mark Zielinski said. "The smaller crowd here is very, very into the show. I think they're feeling those vibes, and rewarding us for our interest in their music." Accompanied by a trippy, psychedelic light show, the Allmans opened with the classic "Mountain Jam," as if to announce the monumental jams that'd mark the night. The stellar interplay between Haynes and Trucks took center stage, with Trucks sizzling on slide. They traded lead throughout; Trucks ripping off piercing, spiraling licks, then Haynes upping the ante, as on a shattering "Jessica," which closed the second set. Allman's gruff yet soulful vocals hit home, especially during a stirring cover of "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down."But singling out any one Allman is beside the point. As one of the original jam bands, the Allmans shine as a unit, then let everyone do their thing, too. "That's the heart and soul of the Allmans, how all the instrumentalists and vocals mesh together, yet they leave enough room for each one to step out and take a chance to shine," said Mark Zielinski. "They just switch back and forth and rotate and showcase their talents. I think they're one of the tightest groups out there playing right now." After Tuesday's show, in fact, you might wonder if the Allman Brothers Band is more of a jammin' classic-rock band or classic jam-rock band. You could debate it all night. PITTBURGH, 6/17/05:: Did someone write "same, old set-list"? I don't know, I didn't see many bored fans near me. I was on stage left and the view was great. I also thought the sound was excellent, except when Derek had trouble with an amp during "Stand Back." Warren sang a killer Maydell (Greg's vocals on CD?). Greg sounded great, except for one early verse. As usual, Pittsburgh was very well attended, loud and into it.

Today’s motto…Don’t worry, be happy! The band did show up for the “secret” show in Erie, PA. This show was up there in the AMA-ZEN category. After tonight’s show, I heard they were going to rename the Warner Theatre, the Warren Theatre! Tkirk and I got our School Girl and a bonus, Into the Mystic. Thanks to the band for a great night of music that rocked my world.

What a KILLER show at the Warner Theatre in Erie tonight. It's been 25 years or so since the Bros. played here and they were smokin tonight! Probably the best show I have seen since joining the tour in Cleveland, seven shows back. The Warner Theatre is beautiful...kind of like the Beacon without the third balcony. The Erie crowd was VERY fired up and happy to greet the ABB with loud applause and clapping along to their tunes. At one point Derek and Warren were going to end a very fine Little School Girl and the crowd urged them on to a long and beautifully intense ending. I think I may have heard the best High Cost and Don't Keep Me Wonderin' in a long, long time. This show is certain to qualify for one of the West Best performances IMHO. What a night! What I remember of the set list is as follows: Mtn Jam (1st half) Stasteboro Blues Midnight Rider School Girl High cost of Low Livin' Trouble no More Mtn Jam reprise Melissa The Night They Drove ol Dixie Down Don't Keep me Wondering Into the Mystic Dreams (Warren) leave My Blues at Home Don't Think Twice w/Susan! Jessica One Way Out - Encore Tomorrow it's on to Cincy for the final stop on the July leg for John Lynskey and I. The band goes on to a few more shows and we head back to the real world after that. I think in Cincy we are going to give away the HTN front row seats a little different this time. We will have a drawing from all of those that subscribe or renew at 8:00PM. In the past we have awarded it to the person that had the highest number of subscriptions. We'll try it this way once and see how it goes. This past week sure went fast!! It always does... JNB

i haven't spoken with lana recently, but i HEAR that she's started a new job and has some new HAPPY developments in her life that are taking up ALL her time. lana's never been paid to do this site. it's a fan site, and she's been the sine qua non of ABB fandom on the 'net forEVER. relax, we owe her, she owes us NOTHING, wish her well, happiness now and godspeed toward her return. those of you who devote yourselves to this site fulltime to the exclusion of all else in life, and walk that tightrope of loving political neutrality (a hard walk, you betcha!) Lana walks, step up. haven't met a one of you -- other than Rowland -- in a decade of hanging out here. SMILE. chill. those love & lovin' vobes. send 'em to Raleighwood, and know that, from there, you ARE loved.

I have had concern for Lana on my heart for some time, as well as others seem to have. I have PM'd her, asking if she (and hers) are all right. I have received no PM's in answer, but that's okay...I know in the past she has been overloaded with PM's and tho' she loves each of us, she just does not have the time to answer us always. I have had the chance very lately to speak with two folks who are much closer to her and they have both told me that she has started a new job and that is taking all of her time at present. I did inquire specifically as to her health, and was assured she is fine, just busy, and that we are still loved. 🙂 I also was told that Rowland is traveling internationally for business quite a bit, and he is fine as well.
