Ms. Judi just shared a link on Facebook that Phil Walden, Jr. was killed in a car accident last night n Atlanta.......So sad. Much Prayers for the Walden family today as well as The Toler.
Happy Birthday to Derek Trucks!
I know Nic-y...you have been a good friend to all of us that have been blessed to know you .... your kindness to Heather will never be forgotten.
this is an open note to whoever may remember sending Heather a large poster of the Brothers with Danny and Frankie .
Not long after we first met Frankie..must have been Fall, when we open the windows after a long hot Summer...
I was in Heddy's br, just knocking around feeling good to be in her space, when a rolled up poster gently blew off a shelf.
I have mountains of memorabilia that kind guestbook folks had sent to her, things have changed so around here (gb) some for the better, but some for the worse, too.
Anyway, it was one of those things, shocked me when I unfurled it.
I immediately packed it in my briefcase, brought to work next day, called Frankie , who was thrilled ,
We brought it over that evening, it made him so happy.
Whoever that kind guestbooker may have been, i hope they see this , when Heather was with us, I was too overwhelmed with her care to keep proper records, or even send thank you notes...
I do however believe, kharma will follow those good folks, i pray a million-fold times over.
R.I.P. Loved his playing...Blessings to the family.
Pam & I have become very close to Danny. We have attended the Toler Family reunions in Connersville. The entire Toler Family including aunts, uncles and cousins are very Kind and Friendly to us. They make us feel like Family. We feel so fortunate to know them. I am sure this is very hard on the whole Family. Our Prayers are with Danny and all the Tolers. May God watch ove them all. Peach.
Maybe 20 years or so ago, Dan and Frankie were touring as the Tombstone Bullets. They did a gig at our local
watering hole, the manager knew I was a fan and brought them over and introduced them. After the gig the manager and her husband invited them over to their house. They had a piano, and the 4 of them ended up doing singalongs until way after the sun came up. She spoke several times over the years of how down-to-earth they were--none of the rock star stuff at all.
Condolences to Dan and the rest of the family. May Frankie rest in peace.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and memories about Frankie Carol. You and Kev were very Kind to him. Peach.
Carol, you dont have to apologize for honoring Frankie Toler by talking about what a sweet and honorable man he was. Although we all came here first because we love this music and these musicians, we should never forget that they are just human just like the rest of us.
When they are struggling or ill or sadly have passed, to tell stories of their lives and the "men" they were I think is what we all should do. I for one appreciate it.
We all know he was a world class drummer and "Brother" but to hear from a personal friend that he was a world class man is to truly honor his memory. Thank you for that......
God Bless the Toler family, his friends who knew and loved him and all us fans who loved him for his contributions to this music we love so much.
God Bless you Carol and Kev for being great friends to him to the end.....And again many prayers of Peace, Strength and comfort for his family today.
What Sue said. It does my heart good to see Frankie honored here.
Thanks Rowland for adding Frankie to the homepage. May God Rest his soul...
I love the new Duane site too! Good stuff!!!
Condolences to the Toler family and friends.
Another Brother gone too soon.
Well now, that Duane Allman page instantly felt like a favorite old boot. That is a compliment Rowland 🙂
my favorite Duane pic, and could it be made into a poster please:
Duane fishing from the Anthology cover. It just says a thousand things, one of those "moments"...... it is moody and timeless.....
I had the pleasure of seeing Frankie Toler play in the Allman Brothers Band in 1981. I also saw him with the Gregg Allman Band about a dozen or so times in the 1980s...always enjoyed his playing, especially in Gregg's band. My condolences to his family and friends.
🙁
here is link to one of the many articles being written about Brother David Frankie Toler

Frankie was one of the most lovable men Kevin & Ive ever had the pleasure of calling friend..despite his illness and obvious pain, Frankie, his daughter Aja & her fiance, and their menagerie of pets were welcoming and gracious, bear hugs and kisses all the way around...
We loved our visits and time spent with Frankie...When he should have been resting, he would jump up, get behind his drum kit, and serenade Kevin and I till he wore us out.. his faithful dog Diesel banging his huge tail to the beat..
there were other dogs too, and kittens..lots of kittens..and family members coming and going..Frankie surrounded himself with life, and lived it to the fullest..
On one visit, I complimented Frankie on a Marshall Tucker t-shirt he was wearing, straight-away he pulled it over his head and insisted I take it..
talk about a give you the shirt off his back kind of guy...
another time, caught me glance at a giant hiking clip he had, I have a silly thing for hiking clips...Frankie pushed it into my hand, insisted I keep it ..It has been in my pocket ever since...silly big hiking clip..worth it weight in gold..
Awhile back I posted to please keep Frankie in our prayers...
a little while later, the phone rang, it was Frankie sounding happy, "guess who i just got off the phone with ?"
Gregg had called....
Gregory, do you see this...a simple phone call between 2 old friends..so simple, so easy..brought so much joy.
To say Frankie Toler will be greatly missed, is the understatement of all time...
His daughter Aja..like a Mother Bear at his side..his wife Marsha...so sweet..Hilarie..Danny, they are all suffering a great loss..I bet ole Deisel is beside himself .. Keeping them all in our prayers...
forgive me for rambling on...Ya'll know how I do..
Nice note on the front page Rowland about Frankie Toler's passing. Thanks for what you do. Prayers to the Toler family.
Thanks for the nice comments y'all. Galadrielle had a very definite vision and direction for the look and feel of the site, she said she has been thinking about it for years. Doug Brown did his usual web graphics magic and I swung the hammer... it's been one of my "gee I really should do this" things since putting up the first allmanbrothersband.com site, and I give Michael Lehman, Gregg's manager, credit for putting it all in focus and getting us moving!
And thank you brother Duane for endless inspiration...
