here is an uplifting story, a woman competing in bodybuilding in her 70's. She shows we don't all have to die young or become frail. She is my new hero, please watch. She is awesome. I can relate, I am 55 almost at my 400 lb squat goal and my age 60 goal is a 500, I want to show old guys can do it. Anyhow, watch, this woman ROCKS.
Wow! What happened to Max? I haven't heard this news.
Wasn't Max the guy who looked a little like Danny Bonaduci (Parteidge Family)? He was a real nice guy.
God bless his family and friends.
Back from Max's service....word was he fell down some stairs, then had a heart attack. Left 2 teenage sons, they were pretty broke up. I don't know if the blues players in Atlanta are even aware, y'all pass the word. Quite a few of the old hippies from the Buffalo made it out in the heat for the service, nice to see that he was remembered.
Out of all the sad happenings the last few days, one good thing happened here.....BLuedad posted something. So he's obviously feeling better. xoxo to u!
Prayers for all of us here who need them. some of them obvious and especially those that choose to not ask for prayers but need them too.
As I get older two more things that i can put on my "lesson learned" list
1) you never know what the next moment holds so make every second count
2) You never know whats going on in someone elses life.....
Sending an angel to Florida for a friend I've grown to Love......:fly: Flying on the wings of my prayers
Max was cool.
I remember Max Moseley very well. Played a lot of music in a JFD or two. Took him to the store to get a taste of something and had to drive to the next town. Got to listen to a lot of good stories on the way there and back...
RIP Max....:(
The Skydogs will be doing some special music for Frankie this friday at the Riverfest in Gadsden. If you're in the area, drop on by the Blackstone. If you're a picker, come on in and jam.
RIP Frankie Toler...rock on Bro.
From all accounts, it sounds like Phil Jr lived his life to the fullest.
I like what Randy said.
Thanks for the post BLD2. A close friend of Philip and I were talking about it yesterday when he called of the news. We didn't have any details. Poor Philip; it must have been a terrifying few moments for him.
Prayers and healing sent out to his family who have to live with this. May they find peace, calm and acceptance in good time.
Make every day count.
Live every day as if it's your last. Make an impact here while you can. Be open to God's will for you. Those are the thoughts I keep thinking as I ponder an active 48 year old husband and father to 4 kids losing his life in such an accident.
Dropped by Lefty's gig last night, he dedicated it to Frankie and Phillip.
Sad times.
Our county here went "wet" in 1972, the Buffalo Bar, where I met most of my current friends, opened the following January. By Thanksgiving 1976, live music was still almost unknown here. That changed when a local musician, Danny Amos, approached the owner of the Buffalo about opening up Thanksgiving night and allowing himself and friends to play for tips. He was joined in his proposal by a former resident who had moved to Atlanta and was home for the holidays.
Max Moseley was the harmonica player for the Roger "Hurricane" Wilson Band at the time, having learned the harp from local legend Jerry "Boogie" McCain.
Max has played in a number of Atlanta bands over the years....he was in the Snake Doctors and other bands with Bill Stewart, and played with Jack Hall some.
Also occasionally showed up at the JFD and some of the stuff that happened at 2nd Street, sat in here and there.
His graveside service is at 11 this morning....I don't have any details.
Max was instrumental in birthing the live music scene here. His connections to Atlanta-area musicians led to the Buffalo Bar hosting the Roger Wilson Band, the Alley Cats featuring Tinsley Ellis, Preston Hubbard (Fabulous Thunderbirds), Butch Trivette, others, Eric Quincy Tate, and Butch Evans and the Buckheads. In short, he laid the foundation for the music we have here today, and for many of the friends I have today. And I will never forget that. May he rest in peace.
Tornadoes, tsunamis, e-coli, hep C, crazy stuff in parking decks....what next? Man I don't even want to know.
I know life's too short to waste time and emotion on dips*** stuff that doesn't even matter in the bigger scheme. In the end, we're all in this together.

Thinking of the Walden Family in this time of tragedy. Philip Walden, Jr. was a loyal and very influential suipporter of The Allman Brothers Band Museum at The Big House. He was an inspiration, a patron, and a friend. There is a tribute with photos of each to honor Philip Walden and recently departed Frankie Toler on the BHM website. http://thebighousemuseum.org See Recent News Link.
Good lord, that is awful. My heart breaks for his family. Thoughts and prayers to them.
Ryan
Sending prayers and comfort to the Walden family. 🙁
Wow. So sad. I was just running in Piedmont Park by the Driving Club and you could hear kids swimming in the pool above the Active Oval....sounds of joy. Bitter irony.
Philip and I conversed a few times on the Mule & ABB listservs years back and his insight was cool to get. He was an active father of four. Just tragic. Prayers to his family and friends.
I'm so sorry I have to post this -
Philip Walden Jr., the son of Capricorn Records co-founder Phil Walden, was killed in a freak accident Tuesday night in Atlanta. The incident happened about 8:25 p.m. in a parking deck at the Piedmont Driving Club on Piedmont Avenue. Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones told the AJC that, according to witnesses, Walden was found pinned between a concrete pillar and his truck door.
“It appeared the victim placed the vehicle in reverse, and then noticed his sunglasses had fallen outside of his truck,” Jones said. Walden apparently opened the driver’s door “and attempted to grab his sunglasses from the ground while keeping his foot on the brake,” Jones said. “At some point, the vehicle rolled back, possibly from his foot coming off the brake, pinning him against the pillar.” Jones said that the woman who discovered Walden “went and retrieved additional club members to assist."
“The club members were able to pull the vehicle forward to free the victim and begin administering first aid until the paramedics arrived,” Jones said.
Walden, an Atlanta lawyer, was taken to Atlanta Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner said Walden, 48, died of blunt force injury to the chest. Walden’s father, who died of cancer in 2006, was co-founder of Macon-based Capricorn Records and was manager for soul singer Otis Redding during the 1960s.
Phil Walden Jr. grew up around Capricorn, which was a major player in the “southern rock” genre and counted among its musicians the Allman Brothers and the Marshall Tucker Band. He later worked for his father’s record company before moving to Atlanta to practice law.
Oh my...........not again. Prayers for the Waldon family.
God, please watch over this family. Amen
Prayers and condolences to the Toler and Walden families.
OMG...condolences to the Walden family..
