Bird, it looks as though I have to agree with you....ouch! This guy was, in a crowd of others with like skills, over his head. Maybe he could run for mayor of New Orleans. What I am about to say is going to be met with some venom, nevertheless here goes.... I have had the opportunity to listen to several displaced folks who are lifelong, long term residents of New Orleans, first hand, with my ears wide open. And what I have been able to observe from listening is this; many similarities between politics in New Orleans and Birmingham. A reference to draw from, if you will. Conclusions?: Over the years, New Orleans has elected mayor(s) who were able to win elections, not by the abilities to lead, or knowledge and education in matters dealing with planning, but simply by having the gift of gab. By playing the political cards well. By promising everything and delivering nothing. Now, in times where education, experience and leadership capabilities along with intelligence to know what questions to ask, this city leader floundered. Drowned in his own inabilities to comprehend the magnitude of the problem and lacking the judgement to understand priorities. How does this ineptitude affect the population? Hard to say at the moment. But the point is this: Hopefully in cities like New Orleans and others where certain potentials for massive disaster exists, the community will actually look at candidates education, credentials, and knowledge rather than their skin color or gender when they vote. What if an engineer had been mayor last week? Or a retired military officer? Or a physician or nurse? Think that would have made a difference? Most elected officials, are as we know, attorneys. Court room and lawsuit experiences do little to help in infrastructure crises situations. Perhaps in the future, New Orleans will actually learn something and elect city leaders with an ability to understand risks and be able to improve infrastructure by having the abilities to assess and plan, not by handshakes and kissing babies.

I WISH HTN was paying for me to go to Amsterdam but the cost for this trip will come right out of my pocket. Maybe one day HTN will sponsor an Amsterdam junket if the ABB ever plays over there. I've been encouraging Derek to do this for years and always promised him that I would not miss a dTb concert over there. It's my fourth trip to this paradise - can't wait! Burnin' the best and hearing the greatest music in the world! Oh, and did someone say shrooms 😉 JNB

Tan Dan, with all due respect you are such a knothead 🙂 everybody knows protocol to fellow humans in times of deprivation and loss is to mention that they will go home to a warm bed, a stiff drink, and some enchiladas. I thought it expressed great multiethnic compassion by saying he would eat a meal from a foreign country. Note he didn't say he would eat it hot.... as a show of epathatic suffering he will eat it warm. And he promises any scraps will be ate by Arabian horsies.... not taking sides on politics but who prepped this guys press statements? send him to Utah... hey Tyler hey TerriB Hey Ron E and hey no wonder I can't afford HTN, press jaunts to Netherlands, is hash an expense account item or considered a maintenance cost adder? and Hemlock thank you for reminding me of LID..... ha the great LID wars in west Texas 1973 four finger, no five finger, no six finger, no this guys you can't even fold the bag over..... oh yeah this guy just stuffs paper sacks with it...... Dave ain't here and I had to edit to say hey Peachnutt OK outta heys I forgot a few sorry...... and hey YOU shoot I read some more and there is Randall... Hey randall.... OK TS anybody else, Christ and Bob Hey Bob I'm not reading nomo 7 edits later

Man Hemlock sends me the best cd's. I am in heaven listening to GM from 9/20/01, SF, Ca. Everyone is on it but the Pope. He also sent me his greatest hits. Hell, I didn't even know he was a musician. In return for the cd's I am going to work on one of his house crews as long as he makes it handicapped accessible.

Great to see the set list, Harvey, thanks! I really wanted to go hear the Mule this trip but couldn't make it given I just got off the road with the Brothers. I hope our friends at Spin CD in NewCastle catch a show. Tonight I booked my ticket to go see Derek in Amsterdam!!! Hmmmm - sounds like a story for Hittin' the Note! Research, research, research! 😉 JNB
