Happy Birthday Johnny! Have a great day. Thinking of friends Doug and MaryLee, who left Galveston Island to stay with friends west of Houston after boarding up the house. I'm glad Bob and I got down there to visit them this summer. Galveston is a beautiful place; sad to think it could all be gone in a day or 2. Keeping all in Rita's path in our prayers.

Hi folks, The servers that run this website are located in Houston, TX. They are in a hardened data center with multiple generators, lots of stored fuel, etc., but of course it is possible that we will be knocked off the air. You can go to www.ev1servers.net, our hosting provider, and check status if you have trouble reaching this site over the next few days. We extend our heartfelt prayers to the people living in the region. best, Rowland and Lana

To all my brothers and sisters in the deep south and gulf coast,be safe and my prayers are with you.I echo Debbie in hoping the Petro platforms survive yet another hit.NY papers are already talking about $5 a gallon next week.My only issue with that is the "predicting" of these gas prices. It seems (thru my cynical eye) as if the oil companies float a number out there and guage public reaction...but then, thats just me...

Joe, I wished I knew you were going. You could have spotted me pretty easily-the only wheelchair there. I would have liked to meet you. If they are there next year, I'm there.

I saw the second half of a great show last night in KC> I heard the first half.LOL People were standing during the show blocking view until the staff wheeled me down front 10 ft. from Gregg. Rick, those are nice words you wrote, but I bought the instant live CD after the show. Boy, what a birthday gift yesterday. Like I told Hemlock, now I know what all the fuss is about. Since they moved me down to the front they put a security guard next to me to keep people from standing in front of me. A real nice guy, kept asking if he could get me anything. I probably should not have said "yeah, a doob."

When you say your prayers, I would appreciate a prayer for my friend, Debra and her family, that cannot get out of Houston. They tried today but with the roads gridlocked they could not leave the city. They finally were able to get back to their home. They are going to a school that is being designated as a shelter. Now Debra is going prepared to the shelter - she has her portable cd player and her Lee Roy Parnell cds. She said that his cds will be playing during the storm and that she has a "Guardian Angel" that will be watching over her.
