Bird, there's got to be a blues tune in that tale somewhere. Robert Johnson-ish.
Every time I'm walking, all down the street....
We had a good music weekend here.
Lefty's gig Friday night was so packed I had to leave. Too many people to be fun.
Saturday Scott Boyer and the Decoys were in town, at the place Fat Dog Farley bought. Brent and Travis from the Skydogs opening. Kelvin Holley flew in from L.A. for the gig, he's been out there working on a project with Neil Young. Played the Whiskey the night before. Scott asked Brent to sit in on a Stevie Ray medley, and he 'bout stole the show. A really fun night.
Yesterday there was a big benefit for a former member of Brother Cane who lives here and is dealing with a cancer issue.
Lots of musicians in town...Harry Case, Jonathan Wimpee...and old hippies out in force. Some nice networking going on too, portends well for more local music options.
This stuff wears me out sometimes.
Hey Danny--My brother is half way through it and says that it is one of the best "music" books he has ever picked up..the stories are endless!!
So I was walking to the gym today (12 minute walk from house) and this lady walking towards me on the sidewalk hollers at me from twenty feet: "Are you down and out?" (most have been the gym bag and my normal insane look).... So I said, "well no". She prompty replies: "I am". All I could think to say was: "I'm sorry".....
She snapped back, quicker than a pistol shot: "That's what they all say".
I was set up, outwitted, and gunned down by one sharp down and out'er.
and I do have empathy, sym[pathy, and other thy's....
Reading a fantastic book-"Fire and Rain" by David Browne-as the subtitle says-"The Beatles*Simon & Garfunkel*James Taylor*CSNY*and the Lost Story of 1970"-Highly Recommended-Not to be Missed-a great behind the scenes look at what was happening in 1970

RIP Columbo -
(CBS) A family spokesman confirmed to CBS News that actor Peter Falk died in Los Angeles Thursday night. He was 83. The "Columbo" star won four Emmy Awards for his portrayal of the cigar-chomping detective who always looked as if he'd just rolled out of bed. Falk played Columbo on television regularly from 1971 to 1978 and then sporadically from 1989 until 2003. He won his first Emmy in 1962 for outstanding single performance by an actor in a leading role for an episode of "The Dick Powell Theatre" (1961). Falk also had starring roles in his friend John Cassavetes' films "Husbands" and "A Woman Under the Influence" and starred with Cassavetes in Elaine May's 1976 film "Mikey and Nicky." He was nominated twice for the best supporting actor Oscar, for "Murder, Inc." and "Pocketful of Miracles."
In recent years, Falk suffered from Alzheimer's disease. In 2009, he was placed in a conservatorship. He is survived by his wife, Shera, of 34 years, and two daughters from a previous marriage.
