Marsha and I send out prayers and good thoughts to so many folks here. Our best to all those hurting in some way, and to their families.
I can't explain it, but I do believe the support of folks here makes a real difference. It did when my Mom was in need. I'll never forget it.
Bird, it is always a treat to read your posts. You are always in our thoughts. How are those dogs doing?
Buppalo, your "white meat" story tore me up. I needed a good out loud laugh today, and that got it done.
I called the Milburn today for 3/17 and 3/18 and was told they only had one br suites left and had a 3 night minimum over the week ends in March. Stayed there 2 years ago and they didn't have any restrictions.
I got the Belliclaire for 119.00 a night fri/sat but with the shared bath.
Interesting....I got a room at the Milburn with two double beds for $169 a night for the 17th and the 18th a couple of weeks ago...guess I just got lucky.
Great news about Mrs. V.....hope she has a speedy recovery.
Hey Gang, just wanted to let you know that my friends and I got a pretty good deal on rooms for the 17th and 18th. Ended up with the Avenue Hotel, 2 double beds per room and your own bathroom ( I cant dig that shared bath thing) for 225 a night. Its on 77th. just off broadway, 3 blocks from the beacon. Last year we stayed at the Bellclaire, but their prices jumped to over 300. The year before that was the milford and their price is also about 300.And the years prior were at the beacon hotel, and I hear from you guys that they are way out of the question anymore. So if you want to stay reasonably close and ''reasonably'' acceptable priced, check it out. ps.... any word on the 2005 Instant Lives.
7/15/05 Show Rocks off the Chart Virginia Beach highly recommended Instant Live Purchase
If Greg doesn't feel like writing - which is ok - he should do some covers.
Hey Bird...
I'm looking forward to Beacon' 07, so I can say hello in person!
Mitch
HELP - Does anyone have some tricks as to how to stop day-dreaming about the upcoming Beacon shows? I haven't gotten any work done this week.
Also, can anyone give me odds that on any of these tunes being broken out this year?
What's Done is Done (50/50?)
Let's Go To Memphis (10/90?)
Down Along the Cove (20/80?)
True Gravity (50/50?)
All Night Train (60/40?)
I guessed low odds because I have no idea what they will do, but these are my hopefuls.
I see Warren is in the studio again I guess that Next studio work Gregg was talking about ain't gonna happen.
Sherry, keeping your Grandma in my thoughts and prayers. What a sweet woman.
Sending prayers out for all those in need.
Spoke to Tony/Bird last night for the first time in a very long time. He sounds wonderful. As he posted, 8 weeks of treatment left. He can see the light at the end of the tunnel. It wouldn't hurt to say a prayer for Tony...pray that he will remain undetectable and the virus never comes back.
Love to all...
Hey Joe . . . that is an amazing coincidence because over in the trades forum Coot has been investigating all of the small pieces of traditional blues songs that Duane sings on the Gatlinburg Tapes, and "Broke Down Engine" by Blind Willie was the final piece of the jigsaw we discovered this morning.
Thought I'd check in on a few issues here, first PEACE and Best Wishes to everyone, second GO BEARS and third I'd like to say that once again, I've been floored by music discussed and recommended by folks on this site, spent the last 2 days listenin' to "Blind Willie McTell the Early Years 1927-1933", borrowed from the library, just awsome guitar work and vocal delivery, and last I have eaten pickled pig feet and hocks a few times, not real crazy about 'em.........THANKS and PEACE TO ALL
For those who want or need to know:
fatback is the fresh (unsmoked and unsalted) layer of fat that runs along the animal's back. It is used to make LARD and CRACKLINGS and for cooking-especially in many Southern recipes.
A ham hock is the lower portion of a hog's hind leg. It consists of the bone, flesh, fat and connective tissue. Usually smoked or cured, but also fresh, they are mainly used to flavor soups, beans, cooked vegetables, etc.
Enjoy. :chatter:
Rich, you have to admit all the back and forth banter has made it a lot more fun. Wonder how Fosters turf toe is coming along? Maybe he'll do a Ronnie Lott and have it chopped off so he can play.
I agree with croky!
Lana, enjoy DTB tonight!
Healing vibes to all in need today and everyday.
Lefty, great news!!!!!
Good for Mrs. Vancura! Sounds like she's pretty much out of the woods.
Prayers for Brenda and family in Pennsylvania.
Scotty, "white meat" also goes by the name of fatback. It's pork, kinda' like bacon, but with a thick rind. I honestly don't know what hamhocks is(are?), if it's the same or not.
because so many have asked, i will post this from Jason Vancura...got it a fe minutes ago...
Hi it's me again. I visited my mom again today. She is doing
excellent.
They removed her breathing tube today, and she is breathing with ease.
They
may be moving her out of intensive care tomorrow. She looks so much
better
now. She will need to be in the hospital for a few more days to
recover,
and she should hopefully be coming home next week to recover. It will
take
her a few more weeks until she fully recovers. I'm so glad she is
doing so
well!
Talk to you later!
Jason
