JNB's post reminded me that a huge GB 'Thank You' is in order to Joe. I e-mailed him about how I wanted to buy the two recent archive releases and Bill Ector personally delivered said CDs. Joe later checked him me to make sure I rcvd them. HTN truely cares about customer service. For those of you that don't use them, give them a chance. You will not regret it. they are 'all things Allman'.:mohawk:

Good ‘ol Sunday afternoon, watchin' football by the fire, slept late today, got to bed at 4 AM after a wonderful night of New Monsoon and Moonshine Still at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta, Georgia. Ron Currens, Bill Ector, Rob Johnson, Jeff Faith and I just had to smile big ones when we walked into the venue with memories from New Years Eve with the dTb, Susan and Gregg! It was my first time to see New Monsoon and they were everything I hoped they would be. It’s a seven piece band with two drummers, percussions, keyboards, lead electric, rhythm acoustic. I always have loved that combination of electric and acoustic and they had the sound volume just right so that you could hear all of the nuances. It was SO pleasant to have a lower volume! Check this band out if you get a chance – they were music to my ears. Jessica was the encore, which the Hot'lanta crowd loved! Moonshine still captivated the crowd with their first headlining show. These guys have come a long way since I first saw them at the Fusionfest in Macon back in 1999. Their style is different from most music that I listen to, but I enjoy it for how good it is. Observing the evolution of music is a wonderful thing! These boys from Maconga are the real deal! Speaking of evolution, a few post back it was mention how the dTb band is no longer the instrumental jazz band they were back in the late 90’s. How true! They are that and so much more, now. I think they have, in Mike Mattison, the best possible vocalist. He can growl the blues, he can sing falsetto for this band in their old school R&B tunes…he just kills me. The Derek Trucks Band has everything in place to have a watershed year in 2006. When you hear the new CD that comes out in Feb you are going to go crazy over it!!! While there were several instrumentals recorded for the CD that didn’t make the final cut, this new CD is unmistakably Vocal with musical hooks and melodies that are at times so strong and other times so subtle. The new Derek instrumental and the tunes he wrote the words and music to will blow you away - he is really coming into his own. I can’t wait for the world to hear what we already know! Props to Rob Johnson for all his work towards the HTN/Terrapin Jamfest. 17 more shows to go! Props to Terrapin beer for having incredibly good beer – just ask Hophead – and good taste in music! It sure was fun guys… JNB

So if they decide to burst(how you like that correct grammer on a sunday...lol) a new/old song....how about Been Gone Too Long - Hourglass this tune has current ABB all over it with an extended bluesy drenched solo in the middle, maybe even a key change for the solo ...or hang on the end for extended jams keep me posted

I want to thank all that have been PMing me about Rusty Barkley of Part Time Blues Band. He had his second opinion this week at Duke Hospital. The surgeons there do not want to do surgery but instead he will be undergoing radiation treatments and hormone shots. Thanks again for keeping this wonderful guitarist and friend in your thoughts and prayers. He is going to make it "one day at a time." It was good to see Brofan at the Part Time Blues Band show last night. I love watching someone's eyes that has newly discovered the band...they are amazed at these musicians and always comment that they should be playing on the big stages.

great to see mr. and finally meet mrs. benjamin...gregg and meridith, who said there may be one more dTb radio event due to royalties for the cover tunes. good job gregg. while it's a true fact that the hippie jazz band i first heard in '98 at head's bar on the LoDa (lower dauphin street) in mobile, ala exists no more - only ONE instrumental was played last night, the sufi medley - it was nice to see the group with a near sellout at a major concert venue. i'd be the last person to deny evolution (with perhaps a dollup of intelligent design). i have the legendary nick graham instrumental box set, a double disc i burned with more recent instrumentals, and a disc of all the studio instrumentals, not the mention the brilliant first CD...so no lack of that legacy...and things will likely come around down the long and winding road. this band's music set in motion a sweet, personal rebirth just when i needed it most. and i appreciate the hell out of the derek trucks band.
