janne, what type of boots are you looking for? The shop you go to likely depends on the style you want. I know a few places, but I'd need to know what kind you're searching for.

Hi everybody I´m coming to NYC for the Beacon Run in March, and I just wonder if anybody knows where to go to get a nice pair of boots in NY? I think you can get them there for a better price than in Sweden, since they probably come from the States anyway. Have a nice weekend to all. //Janne from Sweden

Wow! Pam! That sounds like quite a night!! Lefty and ALMOSBRO sitting in? Had to be good stuff. Lefty may be using Warren for a role model these days, i.e. "hardest working man." Thanks again to Marion for the incredible photo collection he is sharing with us. Marion also put up a new article in the Duane Forum today, some quotes from Duane I hadn't heard before....more insight into how advanced this very young man's perception was.

I think the associations w/Ry, Duane,Lowell George, Sonny Landreth, etc, are inevitable as far as Derek is concerned. There's just not a lot of slide (mostly) players out there for comparisons sake, so it's limited as to who is referenced. All have a unique sound. Nobody ever talks about guys like David Tronzo, Dave Hole, Kirby Kelley because they're just not all that well known. Tronzo's amazing, as is is Kirby Kelley. Plus, a whole slew of monsters from India. Oh yeah, and Jerry Douglas--can't leave him out. Horace EAPFP

i love ry cooder for the buena vista social club stuff...great career, but never would i associate DT with RC. new CD called "crimson jazz trio", piano, bass, drums, very nice: melodic interpretations of the King Crimson songbook. never thought 21st century schizoid man could be a pretty piece that swings but they pull it off. heard "talkin' WWIII Blues" lately?

I suspect it is 40 shows this YEAR, not summer. 15 shows are on sale, leaving about 25 this summer/fall (my guess). With Derek working w/Clapton and touring for the new dTb album, and Warren recording & promoting a new Mule album in '06, it doesn't leave room for many. Hopefully, the Allmans will hit the studio in 2007. Derek is in the next galaxy and it needs to be documented on another ABB studio CD.

Amazon.com Editorial Review of dTb's new album: "Just in his mid-twenties when this album was released in early 2006, the guitar tone of Allman Brothers Band guitarist Derek Trucks (nephew of founding drummer Butch) has become one of the most recognizable sounds to be squeezed out of the instrument. Snake-like, swampy, and filled with tense soul, his slide work has been compared to Ry Cooder's, and perhaps inevitably, to Duane Allman's. On his first album of new studio material in four years, Trucks steers his malleable band through a heady blend of jazz, Jamaican, gospel, blues, and world music, occasionally even combining styles in a single track. Any disc that covers deep soul man O.V. Wright, Pakistani music legend Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and reggae journeyman Toots Hibbert can't help but swim in eclectic waters. But Trucks pulls it all together with a sure sense of flow and arrangements that never let the tunes descend into free fall. Soul singer and newest band member Mike Mattison acquits himself admirably, bringing a tough gospel edge to "I Wish I Knew (How It Would Feel to Be Free)," an airy, ethereal quality to the floating "This Sky," and gruff spirit to the original rocker "Revolution." Although there are plenty of solos, Trucks's structured approach never lets the tunes sink into aimless jams, navigating his lines around the verses rather than vice versa. As classy and controlled as his rather stoic stage presence, Songlines confirms Derek Trucks's status as one of music's most innovative, fearless and affecting guitar players, regardless of age." --Hal Horowitz

Hey Good friday Morning Last one! Going once, going twice, sold to the kind GBer who supports Youth Music Programs If you have made a contribution to my daughters Symphony program, please pm me so she can send you a proper thank you. This is the last day I'll post this as i am sure many of you are sick of it by now. A big Thank You to Rowland and Lana for alowing me to fundraise for this cause here Its weird to ask strangers to support something local but some of you are not strangers so I'll be posting this once a day until Friday The Albuquerque Youth Symphony's main fundraiser is what they call a Play-a-thon. All 5 youth orchestras play a free concert for several hours and players get sponsors. This program is celebrating its 50th anniversary so do the math and thats alot of children given the gift of music Anyway if you would like to sponsor my daughter or just make a donation theres a thread in Anything Goes on the forum. Thanks, this program brings kids from all over the city, all different schools, and they play beautifully together. Gee, not a bad idea.

What an OUTSTANDING night last night at Sully's! There was a whole bunch of great musicians there all taking turns on that stage. I have to give a big ole hug out to Pete Sheips today for sharing his CD release party with everyone who wanted to play there instead of just the 4 that were planned. A few of them there were Dave Stoltz, Lefty Collins, and the ALMOSBRO Tommy!!!! A magical night and all the impromtu guests made it so much more special.:) I look forward to seeing many of you all again tomorrow in Avon. I am listening to a pre-release copy of "Coming Up Blue" now, which I got signed.;) Thank you to Jaimoe just for being you and the educating chat about Elvis and Booker T. For those who were wondering about Slim Jenkins and where Jaimoe came up with that name for Kim Payne, it was from the Booker T and the MG's song Slim Jenkins Place. Now Jai give ole Jenkins a jingle on the horn and catch up! Thank you, thank you, thank you Pete, Jaimoe, Opey, Mark, Johnny, Lefty, Tommy, Dave, and everyone who was giving the music a whirl! I had not been to Sully's for about 7 years since I went there to see Merl Saunders and Adam Vasquez many moons ago, but it was just like going home again when I got there.:) I promise not to stay away so long again.
