I head tomorrow for the Big Apple. It will be a sleepless night tonight as my excitement is at its peak. Look forward seeing so many people. Much thanks to Hophead...he definitly made my weekend!
just about
Do the subways run 24/7 at the Beacon Station there around 72nd street??
Oh......for those who don't know.....MPL is : "McCartney Production Limited" in NY!!!!
"It's getting better all the time".....I spoke with an acquaintance of mine from MPL in NY! Yowza......he didn't say 'who' or what 'day', but said "they" will attend the Beacon this weekend. I told them about the different "get together rooms".....have fun peeps!!!
My favorite off the Honeytribe bootleg for sale that Devon autographed for me is the kick ass instrumental Mahalo!!! They guys are good and he is such a nice Guy to chat with.
I can't work, I'm going nuts! Time is dragging, my stomach is in knots. One more sleep until I'm on the road (sleep, yeah right!) I know its close because my dear wife is in a bad mood, accusing me of running off with my ABB cult girlfreind. Any of those out there that want to hook up with a fat, old, grey haired ex- New Jersey California transplant ABB fan? (only kidding). See ya'll in NYC on Friday!!!
great post 2old
I posted the following on the Forum under Anything Goes, in which the discussion was "the Allmans are so good at the Beacon this year, are they going to call it quits?"
Here's my 2 cents:
1. Unless there's something(s) that I don't know, Gregg will keep touring. That's what he's been doing since 1966. When the ABB isn't on the road, Gregg's usually out with his band. Where did you hear he's got stage fright?
2. I'm 54, and since Gregg, Jaimo and Butch are a about 3-4 years older than me, based on my body, I don't know how they have the stamina to keep going. Having said that, they are the real thing - in the tradition of the great jazz and classical musicians, they only get better. Thanks to Chuck Leavell keeping the Stones on the road, Mick, Keith and Charlie (Ron Wood's still a baby) will pave the road for rockers to be in their 70's and 80's, and set an example for others to follow.
3. My guess is that the ABB will keep going, not unlike a family business. Maybe 1 or 2 of Gregg's sons will take over for him, Butch and Jaimo must have some young blood somewhere to take over on the traps, and don't rule out Duane Betts getting in on the lineup at some point. I've also heard that Charlie Trucks is going to be a mean slide player like his pa.
4. Having seen the ABB since early 1970, when Duane and Berry died, I never would have believed that the band would be stronger than ever in 2006. The original band must be credited for creating a repetoire that will always be relevent and timely. Duane and Berry's spots in the lineup can be filled by only the best - musically and "karmatically"/spiritually. I was at the 3/13/1971 Fillmore late show and the 3/13/2006 Beacon show. While listening and watching Warren and Derek Monday night, I had the feeling that they know they are privileged to fill the shoes of Duane and Dicky, To be good enough is extremely rare - to have the other stuff (karma, spirituality, a strong sense of history) is almost non-existant (in my opinion, Jack Pearson and Jimmy Herrring didn't have "it").
5. Forget the band for a moment - the music is so powerful that it has a life of its own. Don't ever underestimate Jaimo and Butch's contribution(s) to the band - they've built an amazingly strong foundation on which any music played on top sounds incredible.
Bottom line, I think the band will keep going, adding the right new players when needed. My son is 12, but I'm looking forward to taking my grandkids to see the ABB when they play the Beacon on March 13, 2021 to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the best album ever - Live At Fillmore East!
Lammie! LMAO!
Hey all,,if you get a chance, peek your head into the AG "pics from 3-14 Beacon Show" 🙂
Thanks, Dave.
If Brofan can find the cab driver who drove the plane I'll be there...

Hey Lammi!! I heard that!!!
Hey Tony, definitely we'll meet next year. You just keep gettin' better bro.
Joe, I happening to be listening to Gregg tour 1974 right now. I ought to buy the T. You guys should now refer to me as Sir Peach Head. Check out my thread on the forum. We are having a lot of fun. I am trying to think if we have talked about anyone badly. Nope, don't think so.
Hey lammie good to see you. Are you Beacon bound this week?
Man, what a good time this Beacon run has turned out to be! Our boys keep shakin' it up and keeping it VERY interesting!
For those of you wondering about the new ABB merch at the Beacon - Hittin' the Note will have it up for sale in the next few days.
We currently have three new items up on our "new stuff" category. First , the 35th anniversary poster of the Fillmore East recording. Second, a Gregg Allman Tour 74 Retro T, and third - the new Devon Allman CD - Bootleg.
Those of you that came to the HTN party on March 11th or saw Devon's band at BB Kings know just how good this man (and band) has become! The CD showcases a recent live performance in Florida along with some very cool studio demos - including my favorite - "when I call home." The 35th anniv. Fillmore poster we have for sale is larger than the ones we gave away at the Beacon and on thicker paper.
