...sorry to hear about that Bird...really. I saw nothing but beautiful, groovin' people at my Beacon shows this year but of course it only takes one incident to ruin things for someone. Even security was excellent, just friendly as can be and they really let you move around on the floor no problems at all - they were almost non existant downstairs. Hey let's face it, these things can happen anywhere...coming across an a-hole has nothing to do with geography. To those going to closing night of what has been In many opinions the BEST run of Beacon shows by far...Have fun! WE are very very lucky. Peace always...

Tony, that sucks! Unfortunately, there are some "bad apples" in the Big Apple...I'll bet they were similar to the moron who was in front of me last Sat.,that wanted to know where Dickey Betts was.Turns out this wideload wasn't even sitting there. So, while the brothers jammed their way thru the 1st set, I had the pleasure of looking at this guy's back...a shame...

To quote Goliath... ---------------------------------------- Haven't heard from Callahan yet this morning, his injuries are nothing compared to what his wife will be dishing out to him... ----------------------------------------- He will be alright, the bike probably wont. He was catching a ride back to FL with Red Dog earlier. I guess the wrist is pretty smashed. Thank those angels that were out in Macon last night...:angel2: On a lighter note...I am off like a herd of turtles for one last Beacon show. I feel a Spoonful coming on!

We had a guy directly behind us in the lower balcony last Thursday, that just kept shouting LET'S GO, at the top of his lungs between every song. People were trying to calm him down and it just got him more hostile. I thought something would happen, but thankfully didn't. In the middle of the second set, most of our row cleared out, so we were able to move away several seats. Obviously, he tripled his usual dose of crank. I wouldn't want to run into him in traffic. It's really the one downside of going to concerts. Fortunately, it's one in a thousand at best. One reason I especially love things like Wanee, Red Rocks, or GA events, is that you can freely move around.

Lovelight was written by Joseph Scott and Deadric Malone and first recorded by Bobby "Blue" Bland. Deadric Malone is the pseudonym of label owner, songwriter, and producer Don Robey, whose name should be on any serious list of early pop/R&B pioneers with his Duke/Peacock family of labels. Although most of these songs were composed by other songwriters, those he owned got tagged as being co-written by him under the name Deadric Malone. A bandmate of Ace, Gordon, and Parker in the Beale Streeters and a Duke artist before the merger, Bobby "Blue" Bland first charted with "Farther Up the Road," which was a number one R&B hit in fall 1957. Bland's batch of Duke-Peacock hits also includes: "Turn on Your Love Light" (number two R&B, late 1961). Joe Scott was a visionary arranger, trumpeter and band leader.

Second, sorry I missed ya at the Gin Mill, I got into the city late and into the show 10 minutes before the start. Why did I think you were in orch last night? I looked for ya during intermission and after the show...obviously didnt look up in the Loge....Enjoy the show tonight Bird, hope your experience is better than last night and hope the amatuers stay home.

Damn, Tony, that just sucks! I'm sorry that I wasn't there to help (of course, I'm sorry that it happened at all). I don't think the loge had anything to do with it. That's just were the mini-asshole convention ended up. Two against one and blind-side hitting. Aren't these guys tough?

Well, I guesss everyone should have a bad Beacon night. Yikes. I'll keep this short, it could go on and on..... I'll never buy a loge ticket again, whew...... nobody told me that was the inbred hostile section. Came back after intermission, couldn't get to my seat, so was in back of isle standing. Dude starts smacking my leg hard and it unfolded. Guy was nuclear, out of his mind. He wanted to fight, but wantrd me to throw first punch. I didn't back off, so his buddy (400 pounds or so) joins in. They both want to fight me. I was honored they thought it too 600 pounds of them to take on a 30 pound lighter chemod Bird at 160 pounds. It all culminated with me graciously going to back of isle and was going to get to my seat asap between songs. So this chickensh*t NYC tough guy when I didn't notice he had got up (bad me) he sucker slammed me into a seat from the blind side. I wanted to schedule an appointment for 4 months when I am strong again, but thought he might not like that. So if anyone knows 400 pound piece of cr*p or his buddy by D2 or somewhere and E2 or so. tell them we can reschedule and I'll rip their throats out then. Security was non-existant except to escort balconey people to yes, stand in isle of back loge for a $20 tip. Those guys must go home with green stuffed in pockets. I'm sure there are good ones, but they are scam artist idiots in my book. A literal joke as security. They did get me in orchestra when I told them they had a time bomb soon to explode up there. I was too PO'd to enjoy, so left. The pleasure is I know both those cretons had a rotten night after that. I feel for their shrinking in their seats women, who I would bet bottom dolar one of two got smacked at home last night. Good thing I am puny still the old me would have wound up touring NYC jails or hospitals. And to all the wonderful Peachheads who stood or satthere and acted like they saw nothing, thanks. Loge=Inbred Section, beware. šŸ™‚

Man, we had us a time in Macon last night. Lunch at the H with Red Dog and Judi and Kim and the southern bunch that were not in NYC...the spirit is so alive at the H&H. Words could never describe what Bonnie Bramlett does...She was showering Mama Louise with love from the stage all night. Just before Come On In My Kitchen, she started a rap about what that song really means, a history lesson about music, southern hospitality, and Robert Johnson....and Mama Louise and her significance to American music. There was chicken skin on everyone in the room. The chicken skin happened several times throughout the night, Bonnie hitting a note from so far down deep in her soul that it shatters your control... Bonnie was pulling people on stage all night..Kim Payne, Donna Hall (who sat in the whole night, the two queens of Capricorn!)...and then she starts to tell this story about the day Twiggs left us. She said Gregory Lenoir Allman, devastated, goes to the lobby of the Omni Hotel in Nashville and starts playing a very beautiful and slow Oncoming Traffic on the Grand Piano. Bonnie hears it from the 11th floor and she started singing it from 110 feet high and that she wished we could have heard the communication....then she starts singing Oncoming Traffic and when she was through, there were very few dry eyes in the house, including Tommy Talton. Oh my... Haven't heard from Callahan yet this morning, his injuries are nothing compared to what his wife will be dishing out to him...;-) The Capricorn Rhythm Section is giving some people a whole lot more than just super music. Another beautiful evening in Macon...with nearly all my friends. EAPFP
