awesome Barry..tell Captain I said hi...
Greetings from AZ! :waving:
I arranged my business trip to get out here a day early to see my good friend in the republic of tea, Capt. Skipper. We've talked on the phone, but there's nothing like a good manly hug to seal the bonds of friendship. Skip has a wonderful family and Mrs. Skip and his daughters made me feel right at home, like a long lost uncle. I learned a lot about life in the desert, and even though Skip and I had to spend a little time in Prison on Wednesday, I'll cherish the time I spent with him and his family.
I see big things in the future for Skip's twin girls and many of you have already seen a glimpse of Lia's art talents on Pedro's CD. Well, that doesn't even scratch the surface. She has many fine pieces of art in many mediums on display in the house and these are not refrigerator paintings, she is really talented in her color selections and is a throwback to the expressiveness of hippie days long gone by.
I can't say enough about my newest jamming buddy Stef. She is playing guitar 'seriously' for less than a year, and before you knew it, we must have played 4-5 hours and talked about music and influences and all sorts of stuff that you wouldn't expect a 19 year old to know or be interested in. I can see unlimited potential in her too, and she picks up stuff so fast, that I think she learned just about everything in my bag of guitar tricks. I may have unleashed a 'monster' in that a few hours later, after skip and I got released from prison , she was still practicing, and I heard today she already mastered Little Martha. It makes me proud that she is carrying on the music that we all love and keeping it safe for another generation.
Mrs. Skip (Sherry) is a real hoot too, and made me feel like I knew her my whole life. She is the Yin to Skip's Yang. Skip and I had a real nice time climbing though the window into the studio and hangin in the republic of tea.
Can't wait to get back out here again, thanks for your hospitality.
have a great time everyone...our schedule has some on purpose holes so i will be sneakin around on the road somewhere..:walk:
Thanks for the info Zambi... Sure would like to hear Herring, Rodgers & Sipe while in town that weekend - been a while way to long….
Hoping for an update on Luke from origapch soon - can’t imagine that man having to sit still for nothing! You get well soon Luke, ya hear?
Safe travels to everyone going to Cincinnati, Chattanooga and Birmingham! AND, same to those going to hear DB&GS tomorrow night in Philly. I expect a concert call Sari and Terri!
One more sleep!
:bounce:
That is, if I'm able to sleep. Kind of getting that "kid on Christmas morning" feeling right about now.
Nicole and I will be in our usual spot on the lawn at Riverbend tomorrow night, so y'all come up and say hello...maybe share a cold one or a rolled one with us.
And yes, Ryan, look for a full review on Saturday.
All right, then. Let's get this party started!
I'm responsible for the chicken tortilla soup. I hope y'all like it! Let's get to ordering the cookbook folks!! 😀
Just noticed that the Herring, Rodgers & Sipe run of shows in August ends in Buckhead, Georgia the night before the Allman Bros. play Lakewood. It'd be nice if they could work up Loan Me A Dime and have Jimmy stop by and sit in for that one with Derek, among other tunes.

I turned some young musicians back in the hills on to the Bros with the Great Woods VHS. One of them called me a year ago and said if anyone wanted to be turned on to the Allman Brothers Band, that Fillmore East would explain it all.
Husband Pleasin' Beans,Breakfast Casserole, Chicken Tortilla soup, and Tater and Onion Stuff, YUMMO!, and more then 300 other tummy pleasers. The Come on into My Kitchen cookbook... preorder on thread in AG, it's the right thing to do....
Hope all goes well for brother Luke. Get well soon bro.
Live at Fillmore East - My favorite of all time. I also consider Eat A Peach as companion listening.

Funny, and I can picture it!
Just wanted to thank once again those who had suggestions for transporting Steve's motorcycle from NY to FL - He chose Express.
Hey there sweet family,
Ok, out of context with anything and everything going on in the GB today I just thought I'd share a couple random things I've run across in the past week:
* A tour bus parked in front of Pier One at a mall in NE Raleigh, with associated commotion. I called Shey to see who was in town that night - Nine Inch Nails. :eyes: Ok, what were they shopping for? Rowland's guess: incense. Mine: incense sounded good ... maybe throw pillows? The mind reels. In any case, it would make an amusing commercial for Pier One.
