On the Mountain Jam 2 Book End, was "Will The Circle Be Unbroken", just a tease, or was it played out? Sweet

For those of us fortunate to witness the show from Atlantic City house of blues last night, wasn't that an absolute blast? Just waking up from my 4:30 roll in time and wanted to relay just how good a show it really was. Whoever planned the setlist last night, was feeling a bit nostalgic and we all greatly benefited from it. From what I can recall at this time... The mountain jam into one way out (was the first time I had ever seen that),Dont keep me wonderin, Revival, statesboro, guilded splinters, Maydell, Stormy Monday, Smokestack Lightning, Hot Lanta, Leave My Blues at Home, back into mountain jam, whippin Post for the encore. Im sure I missed a few but my memory is a little ''hazy'' if ya know what I mean. The boys had two days off and it showed last night. They sounded fantastic and the crowd responded accordingly. Standouts for me were the big shock of having MJ go right into OWO without skipping a beat and the pure look of surprise on everyones face when it did. I love this version of Revival they are playing now, Derek takes a real spacey jam that almost seems too ''spacey'' for this particular song, then Warren comes in and grounds it with a traditional dickeyesque solo that just floors everyone. Fantastic stuff. Derek just tore up Stormy Monday, and I always love the tradeoff. Tonight it was on Leave my blues at home. Derek and Warren trading back and forth like whirling dervishes. The rythm section just building and building, until it seems it cannot go any farther, then it goes over the top with a fantastic Derek cascade. Can you tell I loved the show last night? whippin post was Great. Anyone else notice the almost'' Spaghetti western'' sounding solo that Warren uncorked at the end of whippin Post. I absolutely love that. I had noticed that he did that back on 3-18 when I was there. Makes you feel like you are in a showdown in the Good, Bad and Ugly. Just great stuff. The Crowd was great last night. I had never heard a concert hall shake from applause the way it did last night. I think Gregg was really heartwarmed by it. He kept thanking the crowd and smilin and wavin. He sounded great. Having never been to the house of blues before, I cant say that I liked it better than the Borgata. It is smaller, my guess is that it probably holds 2500 people? Most definitely the smallest place I have ever seen the Bros. play in. We were packed in like sardines. Dereks set was really good too. He really got people going with Key to the Highway. Mike Mattisons vocals were a bit muddy and drowned out, but when the Abb hit the stage, the acoustics were surprisingly perfect for such a small hall. All in all it was a fantastic night and it is the reason I will always go see them for as long as they want to go on. ps. I had to listen to the IL on the way home just to see if I was making all this stuff up.... I wasnt.

SAVANNAH - The produce has been tasty....how are you after your accident last week? Was meanin' to give you a call last week but got in the middle of some things (long story). I'll try you at the shop or on your cell later. Four more weeks (Good Lord willin' and if the creeks don't rise) and we'll be in Asheville with those hippies from Sarasota. Tryin' to decide whether to make a solo run over to Pittsburgh tomorrow to see Betts.

WOW! What a show in Atlantic City last night! When everyone has been saying this band is at the top of their game, it is not an understatement. I had a great time with Front Row Al, his wife Naomi and daughter Ari. We were in the second row of the balcony, dead center...excellent seats! Al got the tickets from his friend, Lee Allman! Gotta love that 😀 I saw Willie Howard's post about the Big House bike being in the casino...Greg Potter said they were having the best day of sales of tickets EVER! Anyway, gotta run. Heading to the airport for a flight to Pittsburgh to help celebrate a :birthday: , to see the Matt Barranti Band and to see Dickey Betts and Great Southern. Can my weekend get any better? 😆

Just rolled in from AC. Great show tonight. It's neat that both shows I've seen this year (3/25 and 6/30) opened with Mountain Jam. Before this year I've NEVER seen them do it, and I've been going to shows since '71.l

Well Scotty if you ain't experienced one, don't knock it. It is a combination of Merry Pranksters, D-Day and a Roman orgy. Ask anyone, it is an experience not to be missed at least once. (being my birthday weekend as well doesn't hurt, always lots of great parties!) Everyone have a great 4th and please be safe out there!!!
