Good morning everyone
Alittle more about Saturday's Hartford show....
We arrived in town, and wanted to get to Mr.Milas's Aurora Cafe for lunch, but it was not to be...traffic for that animal show had things blocked up for miles! Scott was late delivering some food, and it was getting close to closing time for the Cafe. We gave up, and went to the hotel, where we had a swim and were refreshed.
We left in what was enough time to get to Dodge Theater, but hit another traffic jam on the way to the show. We missed about 15 minutes of Jaimoe's show, but did get to see most of it.
Great to walk onto the grounds and run into Dave and Pam Stoltz, and Kriz and Aya Jensen. The crowd in front of the stage was small, but was really enjoying the music. Put Blues, Jazz, and Rock into a shaker, mix well, and pour it out, and that kinda describes the sound. Even Jaimoe couldn't help but smile.
We hung around a bit to talk to everyone, and then headed into the main area, where dTb was already on.
We only caught three songs, but I haven't heard anything bad from them ever, so it was short but sweet. The ABB came out next, and rocked the house. They played for 1 hour and 45 minutes, not wasting a moment, in order to get the most music in. It was mostly familiar tunes, and all of them done well. JaBuMa was about 10 minutes long, which was fine with me. I was not left wanting for anything except Oteil's solo. The crowd gave the band a big round of applause.
The crowd was mostly Tom Petty fans though, and they cheered loudly, applauded , banged on chairs, and stomped their feet for him. He did mostly his hits, and a few old tunes he said had inspired him when he was young ( including the Yardbirds arrangement of "I'm a Man", which was fun to hear). Little stretching out or experimenting, ( just a bit), he kept to the sound of the original recording. That was what his fans liked, and nothing wrong with that. I enjoyed it, although ABB is still my favorite.
When the show was over, complete chaos ruled in the parking lot. Cars facing different directions no order at all. It looked as if an atomic bomb had people were fleeing the city. Then, after an hour of waiting in our parking space, a single line of cars formed, and we drove out. Go figure!
We got to Sully's pub at about 1AM, and once again Mr.Milas and me had missed each other. Caught a couple of songs that Dave Stoltz, and Matt Zeiner were playing. All thing must come to an end, and Sully's closed shortly after that. Finally got back to the hotel and settled down. What a long, great night of music it had been.

Big thanks out to WharfRat for the generosity! Much appreciated.
Glad to see that there's been a Brofan sighting! Been wondering how you've been doing; hope all is well with you.
Saw the Black Crowes Friday night. Sound was a little muddy, but enjoyed Soul Singing and their version of Got to Get Better in a Little While. Was psyched to see Delbert McClinton play Saturday night but he got rained out (with threat of lightning) after three songs. But the band sounded really tight for those three songs.
Rich.....congrats on the seat.....4th row is sweet.... Hope to see you at the HTN booth...Take care
:birthday: Dusty! Enjoy your day!
:birthday: Dusty
show at saratoga performing arts was awesome!! derek and warren blew us away!! sec 3 dead center yup thats where we were.. heres 1 for the boys hoo raa!!!!!!!!!!
The 8/18 show is starting at 6pm sharp with Derek Trucks Band don't be late!!!
dratta, the line-up at Hartford on Saturday was Derek Trucks Band from 6:00 til maybe 6:50, the Allmans from 7:15 to 9:00, and Tom Petty from like 9:35 til 11:30 ish. I went for the DTB/ ABB shows but I was really impressed by Tom Petty.
The ABB were very focused, even concise. Fun tease of Mtn Jam in "Jessica" -
Hey folks, been quite a while since I've been around, but I thought I'd let those who are thinking of going to the Raleigh show know that I just picked a seat in Section 2, Row D from TM.....been waiting a LONG time for a seat like that to pop up.
See ya'll Saturday night!
Happy birthday to all celebrating today!! Betty, Karen and Dusty....PEACE
Can anyone shed any light on what the format has been for the Tom Petty, ABB, DTB shows. In other words, in what order do the bands play? The 8/18 show is advertised to begin at 7pm.... Do they really start this early?
Thanks in advance.
Listened to Deja Voodoo over and over this weekend - boy those words really hit home!! Can't wait for the new release! too many years doing ...
