I listened to MTB all day today and thought about all the great shows I have seen them play the last 30 years. They were all very special and so damn good. I miss Toy, Tommy, and George. What a band! spdb

Mr. George McCorkle......RIP.......here is a clip from the CMT website..........'Marshall Tucker Band guitarist George McCorkle died Friday morning (June 29) in Nashville after being diagnosed with cancer earlier this month. He was 60. He co-founded the Marshall Tucker Band in 1971 in Spartanburg, S.C., with vocalist Doug Gray, guitarist Toy Caldwell (who died in 1993), bassist Tommy Caldwell (who died in 1980), drummer Paul Riddle and flute and saxophone player Jerry Eubanks. McCorkle, who served as rhythm guitarist through 1983, wrote one of the band's Southern rock anthems, "Fire on the Mountain."'..................... It is almost funny that they say 'rhythm guitarist'..............watch Tuckers DVD 'Live from the Garden State'..............especially on Searchin' for a Rainbow.......he sure has the right stuff!

George McCorkle, One of Spartanburg's finest and as jambase.com quote's Paul Riddle "A true blue collar working man whose contributions to the Marshall Tucker Band were huge". Sounds like a pretty darn nice guy too.

this is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay of-topic, but just a reminder that Fetchin' Bones is having reunion shows this weekend - tonight in Charlotte at Amos, tomorrow in Atlanta at Smith's Olde Bar. Hope Nicholls is a gen-oo-ine rock star, and a southern treasure.

Great words written for Mr. McCorkle here today. George will never be forgotten but it's going to be one heavenly jam in the sky. Me being from Greenville, SC the Tucker boys were always from right up the road. The upstate of South Carolina has taken great pride that this band called Spartanburg home and I'll be forever grateful for the music that George, Toy, Tommy, Doug, Paul and Jerry gave us. Take The Highway!!!!

Six long months on a dust covered trail They say heaven's at the end but so far it's been hell And there's fire on the mountain, lightnin' in the air Gold in them hills and it's waitin' for me there
