The Brothers doing Revival at Farm Aid was on CNBC this morning. Been hearing Layla on the Weather Channel. Not sure what it all means.....

Damn - say it ain't so - no Jacquie at the Beacon Hotel - just won't be the same
Just take over the Bear Bar or Blondies!!!
Way cooler than to have it at the uncool Beacon Hotel....
Not sure if this is the case with the Beacon, but the Fox Theater in Atlanta has at least a couple of smaller rooms (I went to a wedding reception in one of 'em a few years back) that are available for rent. I know the Beacon Theater is pretty small, but it might be worth checking out.
I mean, how cool would that be, to have your Beacon party AT the Beacon?
😎
The Milburn Hotel is the place to stay for the Beacon run. Good rates for NYC, kitchenettes, 1.5 blocks away. I highly recommend getting your reservation there (right after I get mine). Sounds great that the Beacon is still on! All we need now is a guarantee that there will be a West Coast swing next year and I'll be a happy camper!
You may want to try starting with the local hotels, churches, synagouge, restaraunts, social halls. They all rent out...the question is do they want us riff raff & our devil music...
Therefore,if it was billed as a specific fundraiser(i.e. to distribute to all the people on this site without health insurance) then it would be more acceptable with them...they will have legal & institutional rules requring an attorney( i may have a pro bono buddy who would help),accountant, insurance etc...---if ya want pm & i'll try to think of more stuff....
While we're on the subject of the Beacon....can anyone recommend a great fan friendly place to have a party in and around the Beacon Theatre? After the cold e-mail that we received from the Beacon Hotel "uninviting" us to have our parties there anymore, I have decided not to stay there next Beacon and find another hotel. Finding a hotel to stay in is not a problem, but finding a place to host a party is. Both Scotty and the Sweeties would like to explore other possibilities and venues if, in fact, there will even be any large parties/fundraisers next year. It may be time to hang it up in light of being rejected by Beacon Hotel management....Any help is greatly appreciated. Please PM me privately if you have any suggestions.
Thanks for the concert call, Jeff! Mule came in loud and clear from Maine with a sweet Thorazine Shuffle. Boy, have you got a touch of wanderlust! How did you get from Georgia to Maine so fast? Ride on the tour bus?
Posting this to help out this good cause a little. Here's an email I got from my buddy Dave Duncan
Hey Friends,
I hope this note finds everyone well and Thankful on this holiday.God Bless You All. I'll be brief so here goes :
Just (2) weeks from tonite we will be doing a fundraiser to lend a hand to Jimmy and Minni Nalls and their family. As most everyone receiving this email knows, Jimmy has had a long hard bout with Parkinson's Disease. He has had some pretty good days physically over the last 6 or 8 months but there are still not some so good days as might be expected.
Harder for the family at this point, some 12 years into the ordeal, is that the financial end never really lets up. We have all heard stories about how expensive medicine and treatments and surgeries are in today's world.. well Jimmy & Minni has had a dozen years of this mess and have soldiered on bravely. Jimmy has been producing some tracks on his friend Alan and had played some guitar on some demos and is doing all he can. Minni has been the rock through this thing and she does more than everything than needs to get done.. she is a Saint.
All that being said, the debt load is overwhelming..credit cards, home loans, doctor bills, prescriptions, physical therapy... the whole shebangee..its maxed out.... SO.. we are doing what we can to help a Brother out..
Which brings me to you.. we would like you, Jimmy's extended family of friends, to do two or three things for us:
1) forward this email to as many people(friends and music lovers worldwide) as you think it would be appropriate to { Jimmy's one page/bio is attached to this email}
2)Come to Douglas Corner on Monday Sept 24th to see Jimmy and his pals making some beautiful noise.. Jiimy will be sitting in on guitar with as many of the sets as he feels up to
3) If you cannot make it to the gig on Monday Sept 24th, please consider sending whatever size donation you are comfortable with to the Recovery Fund address below.
We can't Thank You enough for all the Love and Support that Jimmy has received over the years and for the enormous generosity the Jammin 4 Jimmy event has raised over The Nalls Family over the previous years. Thank You with all Sincerity !
Here is the lineup as of now.

:guitarist: I think it was the LOVE of the music that made EVERYONE sound good! :guitar:
Can they TOP it this year!!!??!!! :yep:
Just booked my flight! Really looking forward to this! :megacool:
found Jam For Duane 2004 tucked away, deep on one of my 4 hard drives in this computer tonight.
Have not listened to it in over 2 year
wow
it is pretty epic....by my standards.
I felt everyone was hitting the note that day....more so than in previous years, but that could be my own personal observation. Maybe it was just the sound crew making EVERYONE sound good... maybe the mics were just in the sweet spot..I don't know...but I know You would be hard pressed to believe that hardly any one of the open jams were off the cuff...just on it...right there...in Gadsden...for Duane.
That is what it is about
pure jam
pure bliss
pure Duane
elements in his life that affected everyone there, and the music really really shows it.
If you have never been, you should come.
I really can't wait to get back to Gadsden.
It is magic

"skydogs coming up...hard to say without a J"
on now...Lefty Collins and the No Mercy Band!!
My perpetual calendar has a daily quote. Today's quote, September 11, reads " Love is the only language everyone should learn."
Love and tolerance, I say. If there were more love and tolerance, we could reach and maintain peace in this world.
Also, on the drive home from work today I was behind a young woman who had painted her back window with, "The other half of my heart is in Iraq."
I hope the other half of her heart makes it home safely...and soon.
Peace, understanding, tolerance and love to all...
It was mentioned today that someone hoped future generations would look at 9/11 and actually celebrate the day for the freedom it brings. The idea with that thought was to compare 9/11 to the 4th of July, and the lives lost as a result of signing the DOI.
Its an interesting concept, although the wounds are too fresh to consider. Nevertheless, it is interesting in concept.
Happy Birthday to my now 15 year old guitar student and bandleader boss;Ms. Desiree Bassett. Her birthday is today. She is exceptionally talented and is a bright rising star with great abilities, drive and spirit.
I am very happy that we are a part of each other's lives.I am also her bassplayer which I thoroughly enjoy. Some of you have already heard of her.The rest of you probably will! She is proof that good things happened on 9/11 as well.
Speaking of which, may the souls of the casualties of 9/11 be blessed.May the guilty be brought to justice and dealt with.Peace to all here!
