Alright Red Dog, I must have been off with the dates too. Tuscaloosa was on 3/24/71 which would make the bust sometime between 3/21/71 and 3/23/71. Maybe the bust was after the Warehouse gig on the way to AL. That would give you three days in the can and out in time for the show.

Hi again sweet family, Private messages are absolutely meant to be private. If anyone finds something someone writes to them in a private message threatening, offensive, etc, they can let me know and I'll address the situation. Take care and know that you are loved, Lana

Seems to me, any type of post that elicits discussion belongs in the forum. That format is more conducive to such things. Whatever is said, it should be kept civil. Putting nasty disagreements here for all to see is just childish, and looks like you're trying to get folks to take sides. If you have a beef with someone, the PM feature works real well. Some may disagree, and that's OK. Lana and Rowland have the final say...we should all respect that! Sending love to Bobo and family; you are in my prayers. :birthday: Mrs. Yankweed! Have a great day!

Happy Hanukkah to all the Peachies celebrating the festival of lights! Always a treat to come home and find a new Hittin' the Note in the mailbox like I did yesterday. Derek and Susan are featured on the cover and inside in two separate interviews. There's some good story telling in there, too. Kim Payne and RedDog contribute with a nice piece remembering Callahan. Keeping those suffering close at heart. The Holiday season can be a slippery slope for many - for many reasons. All the more reason to practice a little humility and tolerance. Piss and vinegar do not make good stocking stuffers. Sandman's new book does, however! Check it out. And for those that want to try something completely different this gift-giving season - livestock?! Yep, I read about it this morning.... Heifer.org Have a good day, all!

Getting the time line straight here... Fillmore shows were March 11,12,13, 1971. March 14th says Seldon, NY in the database but Willie's book says a community college in CT. Either way there was a gig and they probably hit the road home right after that gig. March 15 through 19 were the off days. The 15th was a travel day, I think that would lead the shooting on the 16, news article on the 17th, Marshall's photo shoot on the 18th. The 19th was the bust in AL. They were released on the 20th and made the gig that night at the Warehouse. Feeling my guesses are pretty close on this one.;)

Different guys, Brock. Another famous Jim Marshall is owner/creator of Marshall amps.

Is the Jim Marshall you all are referring to the same person who was Macon's mayor, and a law prof at Mercer Law School? Thanks, Pam, I'd have been really disappointed to be in the same bldg w/ Prof Marshall for 3 yrs and not made the connection.

There was an article about the shooting that appeared in the Macon Telegraph on 3/17/71. It was just after the Fillmore, where Jim Marshall had photographed the band in front of the Fillmore marque and no one liked the pics, so after they got home a few days later Marshall was flown down to Macon to take more pics, which was, to my guessing about 3 or 4 days after the shooting before the band packed up and went on to the next gig in LA at the Warehouse. Red Dog, I sent you a PM....

My my, the story has wings. I am still not sure of the date Payne got shot. I can say he was home from being shot when we got busted in Al. Calihan was in FL. Going to court. When we went on the road, the only roadies that were there, were me, Tuffy and JoDan, we were two short. That is how to bring the date to surface. Dates of the Fillmore pictures and the date of the bust will be close together.
