Hey now - I just got back from Bhojanic Indain Restaurant http://www.bhojanic.com/ where Duane Trucks and friends jam every Wednesday night. Let me tell you, this was a wonderful night! Anyone who is in the Atlanta area and passes up these free shows is missing out on something wonderful. Following up on JNB's post about Duane's band Genetic Drift winning the Atlanta Jazz Fusion competition and a spot at the Atlanta Jazz Festival last night, I thought it only appropriate to to stop by and catch the show. Blew my mind. Here is this little Indian restaurant with mostly vegetarian food -- their motto is: Warning! Food has flavor! -- and it is packed with music lovers on Wednesday nights. Duane plays with a rotating cast of musicians, but tonight the show included Genetic Drift's Nick Johnson on Washburn hollowbody guitar. Take it from me ... I can tell when I'm listening to something special ... Nick Johnson is the Real Deal. He reminded me of a young Jimmy Herring. Speaking of Jimmy, his daughter Cameron (Duane's gal friend) was in the audience tonight as well as other celebrities. Col. Bruce was holding court at the bar in the back room. Ike Stubblefield was with the Colonel and sat in for a couple of numbers, and the incomparable Caroline Aiken sang Not My Cross To Bear! Playing tonight were Duane on drums, Nick on guitar, Ted Pecchio on bass, Spencer Pope on keys, and Gar on percussion. This is a band to be reckoned with ... I can't tell you how wonderful it is to see such important music played in a venue with such a great vibe! Duane said he will be visiting home next week but will return on March 12. Whoops! Forget I told you about this. I'd rather it didn't get crowded. Please stay away ...

You are wrong that the only choices are Boorack Ohbummer, Billary and McCain as choices. Nader is running again. And like I said you could always write in Ron Paul!

So I'm sitting on the couch last night, messing on guitar, had the old LP Special out, and I get a call on my cell phone. Answered and I hear this music, like a radio playing, thought it was a prank call. Listened for a bit, wait a minute, I know this song..... Pearly Queen.... yes..... isn't Winwood and Clapton playing togethor? aha, that JodyGirl must be the culprit..... a concert call.... it was the clearest concert call I ever got, I could hear the song really well. So, bless her heart, she left it on for a few minutes, long enough for me to figure the notes and runs for lead on the song. Now I'm Eric Clapton....

I don't know if anyone mentioned this. I bought 4 tickets for my older sister for Billy Joel at (Last play @ Shea) then they added another show after. This guy has got to be joking...they could have added another show prior to the one they sold as the LAST show. ticket prices are ridiculous to begin with....these multi millionaire's need to trick you too? Good grief...W

Hot press release from INIO Music President Paul 'HoraceGammet' Kelly: I am pleased to announce the very first INIO Music Showcase/semi-official pre-Wanee kick-off, co-presented by Hittin the Note Magazine, Wednesday, April 9, at the 5 Spot in in L5P, Atlanta (right next door to the Variety Playhouse). Admission will be the low, low price of $5. I think Rob Johnson will be there from HTN, peddling their wares, and hopefully Ron (hophead) will make the gig if he hasn't all ready split for Wanee. Here's the line-ups: Barry Richman's Blues From Mars and The Tomas Ramirez Group. BR's BFM line-up will be: Barry, guitar (duh); Joel Edwards, bass; Tom Grose, keys; Sean O'Rourke, drums; and....ladies and gentlemen, Paul Henson, vocals!! Tomas will also guest on a couple of songs. For the Tomas Ramirez Group, well, it's the band that performed on the Sin Palabras cd: Tomas, saxes; Steve Cunningham, guitar and lap steel; Marcus Williams, drums; Neal Fountain, bass, and once again, Tom Grose (aka "Mr. Gleason"), on all keyboards Batting order to be determined, but it'll start at 8:30. After both sets, there'll be a jam set. Hopefully we can get a couple of friends to show up. Oh yeah--nearly forgot: We'll be recording the festivities--both audio and video--for a future release (or two). Seriously, folks--this is going to be a monster of a show, and a great way to kick off the Wanee festivities. So come one, come all. Horace EAPFP
