A cult, eh?? Nah, family maybe but not a cult. We have religious moments, for certain. We meld our differing faiths into a common musical thread to create that common shared experience referred to as hittin the note.

see, thats what I love about you Bup..anyway, we are out of here, closing shop early tonight..making sure we get over the Peace River just in case winds do pick up..I once saw a truck blown off the Peace River Bridge by a nasty gale. actually quite beautiful right now , Southerly breezes, Coconut Palms dancing... Fay looks to be headed into the heart of South FLA..our fabulous Everglades, with a little bit of luck, she will blow out some of the bad man has done there the last century, do a little Mother Nature "restoration"... Unfortunatetly, the Glades have been drained all but dry...Mama Fay is badly needed there....Gotta run..Ca

Wishing Carol and Kevin, and others in the area, the best as they deal with Fay. Not near as bad as Charlie, but still a potential pain in the *ss. Y'all take care...

Best damned cult in the world! 😀 Reminds me of Red Rocks 2006. SmilingJack's wife Phyllis gave some of us necklaces that she made. They were hearts that had blinking lights. The weather during the ABB show was horrible! Raining and cold. A bunch of us had these black ponchos on. So there was a whole group of us with these black, hooded ponchos and blinking lights. Talk about a cult!! What a sight! 😆

Hop, I didn't know we were a *cult.* That's kind of like calling motorcycle clubs *gangs,* isn't it? In essence, he has it right, but I'm not sure I like the *cult* association. 😉

This is from the review of the Mansfield show in the Sun Chronicle: "The Allmans' jam-heavy shows may not be everyone's cup of tea. But the band manages to keep things fresh for themselves and their dedicated fans, probably the reason the band enjoys a dedicated, cult-like following after so many years of touring." He's talking about US folks!

It has always made me mad that society asks our youth ( and now grandfathers ) to fight for them and then provides little when they return. John Prine said it best IMHO. Semper! Sam Stone came home, To his wife and family After serving in the conflict overseas. And the time that he served, Had shattered all his nerves, And left a little shrapnel in his knee. But the morphine eased the pain, And the grass grew round his brain, And gave him all the confidence he lacked, With a Purple Heart and a monkey on his back. Chorus: There's a hole in daddy's arm where all the money goes, Jesus Christ died for nothin' I suppose. Little pitchers have big ears, Don't stop to count the years, Sweet songs never last too long on broken radios. Mmm.... Sam Stone's welcome home Didn't last too long. He went to work when he'd spent his last dime And Sammy took to stealing When he got that empty feeling For a hundred dollar habit without overtime. And the gold rolled through his veins Like a thousand railroad trains, And eased his mind in the hours that he chose, While the kids ran around wearin' other peoples' clothes... Repeat Chorus: Sam Stone was alone When he popped his last balloon Climbing walls while sitting in a chair Well, he played his last request While the room smelled just like death With an overdose hovering in the air But life had lost its fun And there was nothing to be done But trade his house that he bought on the G, I. Bill For a flag draped casket on a local heroes' hill

Happy Birthday, Jeanne see you at Red Rocks.. enjoy your day.. Leah.. gotta love John Prine.. such a great story teller. He posesses a great sense of humor and manages to blend the laughter with the tears. ------------------------------- Clocks and Spoons John Prine Clocks and spoons and empty rooms It's raining out tonight What a way to end a day By turnin' out the light Shoot the moon right between the eyes I'm sending most of me to sunny country side Runnin' through sky of blue rollin' in the sun Every day has a way of overflowing one Shoot the moon right between the eyes I'm keeping most of me in sunny country side Don't know how I did that now wonder where it's gone Must have spent the way I went waitin' for the dawn Shoot the moon right between the eyes I'm screaming Take me back to sunny country side

Happy Birthday, Jeanne--thanks for being a part of our family here. Very cool that the rain stayed away for Wharfstock....from looking at the pictures, looks like a great day to be a part of the Peachcorps. I believe I'll go click on the Home page. Just in case....
