Tony, To be fair, if the split was because Dickey was doing (fill in something here) or refused to accept the band doing (fill in something here) then it would only reconcile if that changed. If both parties still feel the same way, then the bad dynamic would just continue. Any of us had parents that divorced? How many got back together?

I really think we all understand after 8+ years that you had no choice at that time. I don't understand after all this time has passed, how two educated, mature and talented human beings cannot simply talk this out! It is not like negotiating w/ N. Korea for God's sake! (or maybe it is!) Whether you want to admit it or not you do have fans after 8+ years liking what you are doing, but still crave Bett's tone (with you guys!)! It is now a different time!! You guys have busted up before...Please don't end this thing with regrets...

Thank you Butch! Keep on doing everything you are doing because the majority of us are loving every single minute of it! The Band sounds wonderfully vibrant and dynamic... and the Jams are over the top. Be well and give our best to the guys...

When Dickey was let go, I was vehement and outspoken. I swore I was done with this band. I decided to see them again, though, for a few reasons. Butch was gracious enough to email me and explain the band's side. I realized that if I felt like I couldn;t work with someone, I would have that right. Life goes on. The music isn't the same ... and it is. I miss Dickey. I love what I'm getting. We can choose to embrace it or not but the members have a right to do what the majority want to do.

Just read some more posts. Our deal with Ratdog is they get to play two hours. This only leaves us two hours. We're not cutting our show to two hours becasue we want to. I challenge any of you to show me one concert on this tour with a twenty minute drum "solo" (for all of you music critics out there a solo is one person. There has never been a drum "solo" in the band's history). We know that we only have two hours to play and we have cut the drum ensemble to 5-7 minutes, max. Last two shows we finished playin and Gregg, Warren and Derek were all still backstage. Bad feeling when you're sitting there having said all you wanted to say and ya just gotta keep banging until the band shows up. Anyway we do still get a strong reaction when we play these things so I guess somebody likes em. Sorry if you don't. Go get a beer or pee or something.

Thanks Butch. For the record, I've had many, MANY hours of JOY w/your band since those tough decisions were made. Thank you for staying together - I can't even imagine the last 7-8 years w/o the 35 or so shows I've been fortunate enough to witness. Keep at it, please!! And thanks for caring enough to post. 😎

I just want t make a comment about some of the statements flying around. Augie, I am truly sorry that you have decided that I am the great Satan. I was the one that stood up for you when the crew and my partners, led by Dickey, wanted you gone. I fought until I was told that the entire crew was going to quit because of your negative and confrontational attitude and all three of my partners, led by Dickey, left me all alone in your defense. Now this. Please, this is not the place for this. Please take the "advice" you gave me and "show some growth". I want to make a statement: The Allman Brothers Band reached a point several years ago where we had two options to choose from. 1) Split up!! 2) Try and make a go of it without Dickey (and, we truly weren't sure if this was possible). These were the ONLY options on the table. As much as we hated option two, option one was worse. This is reality. What has happened since is reality. What everyone thinks or wishes was reality is not. There is no perfection in this life. We are always faced with hard choices and our lives are formed by which direction we choose. No matter what Red Dog says, I did not lead the way to what happened. I may have been the most outspoken but that is my nature. I talk too much. Gregg and Jaimoe tend to keep their opinions to themselves much more than I. Bottom line is what I stated above. We have had a wonderful time playing the music that we have played since we had to make that choice. Many people have had a few hours of joy because we made that choice. As much as I wish that we were never forced to make that choice that just isn't reality. WE HAD NO CHOICE!! That is a fact. Please try and understand what I just said and let's get on with life based on reality and stop fantisying about the "what if's".

I'm stoked for a little ABB at Red Rocks Saturday night. Will they play my favorites? Maybe. Will they play something I don't really care for? Maybe. Will I be enjoying the heck out of where I am alongside the people I'm with at that very moment? Most definitely.

How ya'll doin'? Wow, it's three years since my last Allman's show. I'm writing songs of my own to tie me over 'till I get a chance to see the Band again. Maybe the Brothers might consider recording one of my songs for their next record--Ha! Feel free to check out some of the songs that the Allman Brothers inspire at my space /hanahanshuffle. "Summerville Blues" is kind of like "Southbound" (the acoustic version), and pays tribute to the Allmans with lyrics like, "I know women in Statesboro and Hot 'Lanta..." "Poor Man At the Market" has a "Smokestack Lightning" vibe, and "J. J.'s Alley" [now called something else] is an inspiration behind "Hanahan Shuffle..." Thanks, and "eat a peach for peace."

All the trash talk just makes me look forward to Beacon '09 that much more. I don't expect the band to change what they do because some fans who do not understand what The ABB does, were upset and came here to complain. They have their opnions, we have ours. I agree with the people who say it might make it eaiser to get Beacon tickets. No one here likes Dickey more than me, except Rainy of course, but I just don't see how it will happen. That being said, like a child whose parents are divorced, I am always nurturing the possiblity in my mind, that Dickey and ABB will play together again. Who would have believed that you would have to use those names seperately in the same sentence? However, it does seem like the chances of that are very remote. Recapping... i love the jam....don't stop jamming...wish ABB and Betts would reunite for at least one night...don't expect it to happen. Mitch

You either "get it," or you don't. Just not everyone's cup of tea. Not mainstream. Some newer, perhaps younger folks, don't realize what kind of music is the forte of the ABB--and what makes them different. Only know the name, and a few hits here and there. Maybe buy a ticket, find it's not for them. To each, his own. I was blessed to be raised on Ellington and Basie, got it right away.

Hey there sweet family, Thanks, Lammie! :glow: Rainy, Red Dog the problem is the “&” in “manna&coldcuts” should not be a legal character in a username and it is causing a database retrieval to pull the wrong info. Rowland is in a meeting right now, but will look at it as soon as he can. Take care and know that you are loved, Lana
